Trying to decide what to get in .308 semi to replace the few I have that are just in the safe now and prohib forever ... I see these are the only options left, some more attainable than others when it comes to semi-autos still available in this country (not necessarily in .308), listed in order of ease of attainability I think:

Benelli R1/ARGO
Adler AD-500 Rifle, based on Benelli M4/R1/ARGO
Alcor Semi-Auto Rifle, based on Benelli M4/R1/ARGO
SKS
Browning BAR
Remington 740/742/7400/750
Winchester SXR/SXR2
M1 Garand
Sauer 303
Merkel SR1
HK770 / SLB2000
Valmet M78
Valmet Hunter

Turkish manufacturers might not be up to par in terms of their metallurgy or QC, but they really took that Turknelli M4 boom to heart and just decided to adapt the ARGO system from M4 and R1 into everything they could and sell it to Canadians, eh? There's a lot of room there for them to play with SKS or BAR or even the Remington and Winchester semi designs too. Hell, HK770 and SLB2000 uses the same roller delayed design as SL7, and Turks are very good at making roller delayed clones... come on now.
>>
>>64666936
I was just listing all the reasonable and potentially attainable semi that is not .22LR still left on the FRT and available for purchase new or on EE/GunPost. There's room for a .308 SKS if some manufacturer wanted to adapt the mechanism...

>>

Oh I should add HK940 to that, since HK770 and HK940 are the same other than action size.
>>
>>64666913
MAS 49/56?
>>
>>64666969
Too old really and inferior in terms of operating mechanism to these ones, also not easy to get at all, so it would be on part with the bottom of the list in terms of attainability.
>>
>>64666913
It's really funny that Benelli MR1 was OIC banned, given it is just a .223 version of R1, which is quite literally what Alcor-223 is, and the Merkel SR1 isn't THAT different either. Fucking clown world. Hell, same goes for HK SL7 and those listed HK.

It’s an 4 screw 1860 army, not a 51 navy, but thank you.

The 58 is arguably more accurate, but the 1860 points nicer. I think the major flaw of the open top Colt patterns is the rear sight being located on the hammer. They tend to shoot very high, so hypothetically aim at the belt and hit the heart.

I also have a lil .31 Manhattan arms that is sort of a copy of a Colt Pocket Model but differs in that there is a side plate that comes off as opposed to the frame and grip being screwed together.

One thing I do like about the Colts is how they used their rebated cylinders not only in the 1860, but in the 1863 Police model which is a .36 but on a pocket model sized frame.

I personally find my greatest interest in firearms is 19th century stuff. Pondering saving up for a Dragoon at some point as I think they are the nicest looking percussion Colts.

I know that antique dragoons are unobtanium, I moved to the US, I do come across antique percussion revolvers from time to time. An engineer at my old work place had an 1851 Navy with Hartford markings which I got to handle that he ended up selling for like $600 US, I wish he told me he was planning to sell it because I would have given him a bit more.

If you’re the anon who wants to get kitted up with an antique percussion revolver drop a protonmail address and I could help direct you or help make it more possible.
>>
>>64666989
It’s lighter than a Garand, actually the weight of an SKS, can hit things at better than minute of man & they are neat.
>>
>>64666969
fn49s are cheaper and look cooler and shoot bigger bullet

>Trusting a Canadian manufacturer to fuck up a design that was well manufactured as a result of having Command Economy’s.

Here’s your $5900 rifle.
>>
>>64667030
Yeah, they certainly are neat.

Some guy down here wants $800 USD for a 49/56 with a bunch of accessories and two mags.

But it’s one of those Century Arms .308 conversions which either work or don’t.

As much as I would love one, I don’t want to take a chance on a lemon grenade.

Also, I got a nice California Slim Jim rig for either one of the .44’s, more historically accurate than a right handed US flap holster, as all of the govt issued civil war era flap holsters were left handed.
>>
>>64667017
Ah, I thought the navy had the longer grip for some reason. I’m an amateur at the antique pistol game, but I agree that mid to late 19th century stuff is a very interesting niche.
I don’t know the particular anon you were referring to but you can contact me at aenid@protonmail.com

because poly doesn't already list various semi and pump shotguns and various bolt actions on their latest call to action PDF. Stop being a faggot, they'll do what they do when they do it, and they have access to armalytics and RCMP's FRT just like the rest of us. Nobody took heed of or did anything when that faggot traitor liberal anon posted this back in the day, and nobody will do anything about anything anymore nowadays anyway.

it's fascinating how this is exactly one year before the OIC and subsequent FRT additional fuckery, they had that shit loaded up and ready to go to take advantage of the first crisis they could get their hands on, the fact that it fell right at the beginning of covid was just godsent for them.

I will never forgive boomers and non pro gun folks for the suffering they have caused us all. (pro gun = wanting machine guns from vending machines no sales records of any kind).

why shouldn't I go print a bunch of p320 frames 10 round mags, and drop them across Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec city? Legally not firearms, or prohibited devices so the only crime being committed is littering, unless I just put them into public recycle bins, then no crime I guess. (did you know many garbage/recycling bins in big metro areas are transparent).

Hey CSE/CSIS are you hiring anytime soon. need a full time full remote dev job.

Like this year new I came at the ass end of it all when everything is fucked. I've seen the wooden crates of it which were around 1400 I think but I haven't seen one of those for sale anywhere since this spring it's like they just vanished.

yes but printed frame is like $3-6 not $90 for leaving in public.

I'm mostly concerned that since the stinky chinky has run out that the red box and clean chinky is going to rise in price and defeat the entire purpose of the cartridge.

FN49’a are precursors to the FAL designed by the same engineer who designed that and perfected the Hi-Power.
