Last one dead. These threads need to be more common.Between a Mossberg 590 and a Remington 870, which should I keep? Recently was given an 870 and I don't really care to have two shotguns.
Or was it /sg/
>>64668914Learn to dual-wield, niggah.Too bad you ain't got two autos.PS - always buy two identical cheapest possible weapons. You had two RIA VR60s modded for 20-drums you'd be out one grand and be well armed right now :D
Shotgun card question. 7-shot ones fit in mag pouches for 30-round AR15 mags. How are 5-round shotgun cards compared to 20-round AR15 mags?
>>64668914>which should I keep? What do you do with your shotguns? The 870 is general-purpose, you can get any kind of barrel for it. The 590 is more of a one-trick-pony, it's a dedicated combat shotgun so it's min-maxed for that, but you can't get rifled slug barrels, long barrels for clays or hunting, etc, for it. I say keep the 590 if you want to combat larp, keep the 870 if you want to hunt or shoot clays.
>>64670780I dont know, but I do know you can stuff the bottom of AR or AK mag pouches with bandanas, extra supplies, etc. to accommodate for shorter mags or shotgun cards. Has the added bonus of extra backup kit just in case.
>>64670865They'd just be for range shooting, I dont hunt, have anywhere nearby for clays, or larp. I have a dedicated home defense gun already, so whichever shotgun i keep would just be for fun. I hear a lot of more modern Remingtons have issues, and if I did the serial lookup correctly, mine was made in 2014. I know you can treat 500 series guns like shit and still have them run
It fired one box without issue and jammed on every shot on the other. Is velocity really that big an influence? No clue if this thing still has its barrel seal activator in it or not
>>646715691200 FPS is the magic number. go below 1200 and it wont work right.
is 20ga enough to defend self
>>64672013From humans yeah. Grizzlies or Dogman, might want 12ga
>>64668914Why doesn't mossberg sell aftermarket forends? I think it's just fagpul and hogue which is dumb because what if someone breaks their forend or something?
>>64671513>They'd just be for range shooting, shotguns for range shooting is retarded. shotguns are for hunting and clays
>>64672453>shotguns for range shooting is retarded>poorfag who's never been to a trap range
>>64672543the guy I was replying to literally said he wasn't using it for clays. I literally said the point of a shotgun is hunting and clays. Did you stop reading mid post you retarded illiterate? shooting a shotgun at a static target on a range is retarded
>>64672557Oh fuck the Maverick 88 hating autist is here
>>64672583the only thing I don't like about mavs is that they're made in mexico and not the US and that there are better HD options if you only plan on getting one gun. I also think any shotgun not designed for shooting clays or hunting is retarded
>>64672557>gets mad because somebody pointed out something stupid he said>still a poorfag who couldn't afford a trap range membership even if he sold everything he owned
>>64672587>any shotgun not designed for shooting clays or hunting is retarded>every combat, riot, and coach gun every made is laughing at your stupid redneck generalities
>>64672699you can't read and you have no dick. the range I'm a member of has a trap range, faggot>>64672723>the year of our lord 2025>buying a "combat shotgun"let me guess, you're gun is painted zombie green, has a bayonet and you keep it with your mall ninja machete?
>>64668914I personally prefer Mossberg to the 870. 870’s to me are more clunky feeling. I mean I’m sure you can break in an 870 too, but I’ve got an older Mossberg, and the action is like butter.
Does anyone here have a hammerless coach gun they like?
I don't know much about shotguns but we've got an old jc higgins model 20 that has had FTEs both times I've shot it. It's clean and in good enough shape so what I should look for? It doesn't throw spent shells but I don't know if that's normal or not, it looks like there's just a little ramp that pushes the shell out as it comes back. The chamber is free of burrs and a spent casing cycles just fine and doesn't seem to stick so I'll try another brand/type of shell just to see.
I want a 12 gauge for as cheap as possible to use for trap shooting and maybe get into bird hunting. I'm looking at PSA and see this shit. This would be my first shotgun and long gun in general. But I'm cheap and broke.
>>64672884If you need a cheap shotgun, it should be a Maverick 88. If you need an automatic shotgun, it shouldn't be cheap. And always avoid turkshit.
