Could you do what they did for the F35 were its stealthy and hard to lock onto Via radar and thermal but for ground vehicle.Like a tank were ATGM strugle to lock on?
>>64672046Like PL01
>>64672046I've always thought tanks should be diesel over electric so they can operate with a lower heat and sound signature
>>64672046Google "saab barracuda". There's more out there, but it's the one with the most info. I know the turks and puccians have copied it as well, probably more also.
Most ATGMs don't use radar. Those that do, use MMW radar which has enough resolution to use the radar as an imaging system. So to counter them, you make the vehicle not look like a tank, rather than being radar absorbent like stealth aircraft
>>64672336>make it not look like a tankNaw fuck that, give it one giant technomagic emitter that makes any radar see the entirety of 1920s Berlin with centimeter precision.
>>64672046Build it out of non-metallic material. Make it an EV. Have active optical camouflage. Probably not worth it unless for scout vehicles.
>>64672046>He doesn’t know about the stealth tank.
>>64672046Might as well just blind the observation system at that point, it'll cost less and actually achieve results today instead of later on after a multi billion research program.
>>64672046Sure, look how invisible the Armata is, for example
>>64672046>hmm that's weird. Why doesn't this weird rectangular patch reflect radar back like the rest of the ground?
>>64672046Making a ground vehicle radar stealthy would be very hard because blemishes will give it away anyway like you know, dust and mud. A bush branch scratched your RAM as you drive by, uh oh that's not gonna be good etc. Proper stealth needs a lot of fancy stuff to get to work and assumes the environment is not gonna actively be trying to abrade it just by moving around. The other aspect of stealth is thermal, which would actually be relevant for consistently avoiding being spotted on thermal cameras and IR guided munitions, and they have been trying to do that already.Lastly a lot of antitank stuff is visual range in general. Being stealthy and angular just doesn't matter for someone who already literally sees you on a drone camera or in a scope for an ATGM. You would need Star Trek invisibility cloak shit to make it literally unobservable physically and the closest thing we have is just a lot of camo and good positioning and concealment techniques to hide yourself. Which they already try to do in Ukraine along with anti thermal blankets if available.
>>64672046No, not without cold fusion hover tanks as tracks are insanely radar reflective and warm up very quickly while simultaneously being hard as shit to cover without risking mobility or creating failure points. On top of that, sensors have been in an arms race with aircraft that are much more stealthy than any ground vehicle could ever be, so its already a losing battle.
