Would you join the military right now if you had nothing going on? I'm at a crossroads as I've been laid off now for 8 months.
>>

Yes. But sadly my euro cuck country limits combat roles above 28 years. I'm 32
>>
Not unless China pops off. I'm not going back unless I get to kill people this time.
>>

If I were fresh out of high school, absolutely. Right now and for the foreseeable future it's a better career path than college or the trades. The market will even itself out in a few years which coincides with the end of a contract or two.
Personally, I wouldn't now. I own a home, have a wife, a daughter, and a career. Plus I'm 34 which is too old for many branches.
>>
What's the harm in giving it a try?
It's only 4 years and you'll get a nice VA home loan afterwards and have a decent amount in the bank if you're frugal.
>>
>>64672652
Depends. If you need a skill they can get you one, welding, machining, medical, piloting. Seriously, we need more helicopter pilots, we have a new flight course starting every two weeks - you can enlist and go straight to it.

I'm only signing up to fight if there's a civil war going on, and not for my country's government.

Fedniggers can have fun getting blown up in foreign shitsholes without me. I'll stick to my comfy bookkeeping job.
>>
I was 23 and burnt out as fuck when I joined the army. I guess I'm a rarity or something but everything just perked up in my life once I joined.

It's rare the military cures depression but it did for me. I really have to get on my knees (figuratively) and thank the army for everything it did for me. Met true friends, got a lot of confidence (turns out my parents coddled me a lot) and really just really began enjoying life again.

I really don't want to think about the before times. I was a sad person. My parents were some horrible enablers. Anyways, it's an experience.

That's because negative opinions are both voiced more frequently and given more attention. The reality is that you're far from alone. And what's even more common is guys like me, who get out of the army and realize just how shit civilian life is, in many ways. I'll take a hundred days of summer porta-john roasting over the civvie job hunt any day
>>
I already applied and failed the fitness test because I'm out of shape. I can't run more than half a mile without stopping.
>>
>>64672832
Then get in shape fag

> Would you join the military right now if you had nothing going on?

Thats why half if not more people join the military. If you dont have a job, house, or family, or any prospects of them and youre interested in the military then fuck it why not.
>>
>>64672652
Considered it, but they don't want me. Fucked joints.>>64672654
>>
>>64672918
I'm trying.

;_;

It's hard to get in. The hardest part is to get in. Once you're in you're golden.
>>
>>64673026
Didn't mean to reply.
>>64673029
You can do it mate, starting is the hardest part.
>>
Things are dire out there OP. It's bad when I'm even considering joining at the ripe age of 28.

Life is hard.
>>
>>64672652
How the fuck do you not get a job in 8 months you lazy faggot

You are not a doctor. Say nothing. Unless you are a broke as bitch.
>>
Does anyone in the military have something you want?

Who has the life you actually want? Ask that question before pushing the Hail Mary button that is a military enlistment.
>>
>>64672652
Yes, if I was younger.
>>
>>64673035
>You can do it mate, starting is the hardest part.

That's the easy part. Keeping at it is the hard part.
>>
>>64672652
nah I've got a heart condition that prohibits me from military and FAA first class license. Can't be a pilot or work ATC.
>>
>if you had nothing going on? I'm at a crossroads
Ooof, sad. Isn't this every military guy? They don't seem to be doing so hot post-mil either.
>>
One of the reasons I wanted to join but never could is because I figured giving myself a goal would motivate me to lose fat. I had the motivation but brain fog limited my sucess
The other half of it was an u spoken thing about infantry that can happen even if you do your job and everything right. I wanted death because I couldn't handle life
>>
>>64672652
I'm too fat, otherwise I would have joined
I figure if I dont have the self discipline to get fit on my own I'm not soldiering material anyway
>>
>>64672652
I joined when i was 27 yo, basic and AIT wasn't a big problem. It was a year of my life that was highly educational. I got in good physical shape and the drill sergeants left me alone once they figured out that i wasn't a idiot and that i was older than some of them. A 18 year old girl beat me on the 10K jog but i was carrying her friends (and a fucking M-60) so that doesn't count.

As long as you do your best that is all that will be asked of you, just try your best and everyone will love you for it.
>>
Yes. Go in, do dumb bullshit for ~10yrs unless you genuinely want to make a life and career out of it, get VA disability and enjoy my free $4k+/month for life.
>>
>>64672652
air force
>>
>>64673180
Men are at all time lows, arguably at no fault of their own. They realize the world is fake and gay so they'd rather get some camaraderie and a paycheck than deal with whatever civilian life is pretending to be.
>>
>>64673221
You can do that by joining a local motorcycle gang or activity club without having to throw yourself to daddy government.
>>
>>64673225
The thing is Daddy Gubment has the jobs whereas Small Town USA doesn't and Big City USA isn't worth having 3 part time jobs to afford the 300 Sq ft tenement you'd live in.
Pretty grim all around
