Why aren't Ukraine or Russia buying portable lasers for anti quadcopter drone work?

You have to train a little laser dot on a manuevering target. If they are not grenade droppers they usually are not hovering around giving you time to respond, on an attack dive they are coming at you with the speed of a car on the freeway. For a little handheld laser to burn a hole in something you would need to train it into say the propeller.. which is going to be spinning and dissipating the energy between the blades possibly enough for the thing to be intact long enough to reach you. Otherwise what, aim at the RPG warhead pointed at you? Probably not a good idea. The camera lens? You're gonna hold a laser trained on something the size of a dime from 50+ feet away? No, you're not. Unlike with trying to walk in a laser towards say a target on your wall, you won't see the dot if you are missing the drone since it will just go up into the sky. You won't just see where to aim a nudge to the left or right or up or down. People are trying various things however. In some parts they have shotgun shells that fling out a net to entangle a drone and I have heard these actually work. Sounds good to me, they just aren't mass produced I think. Some soldiers also have a magazine loaded up with special fragmenting bullets for shooting at drones with too etc. it's not like drones can't be stopped, more like you just don't tend to have time to react so it makes more sense to have something ready to point and shoot at one in your hands already.

But probably that is not so easy to do either or there aren't off the shelf lasers that can cleanly cut the wire with one fraction-second sweep over it.

Why doesn't the dot correspond with what the fleshlight is actually pointing at?
