>holy fuck I LOVE driving through traffic somewhere and paying 20$ to the tired and sad gun shop wagie who will finger fuck my guns and check all my ammunition, to go inside a poorly ventilated and dimly lit room to shoot at paper targets, next to one of America's future doctors magdumping his muzzle brake'd "not real full auto, it's FRT" fully automatic 5.56 "not a real SBR, it's a pistol" SBR!Has anyone ever actually had a FANTASTIC experience at a public indoor gun range? It seems to me that it is literally not worth into guns as a pastime if you do not own your own land, or at least have access to a good public outdoor range.
OP is GAY
>>64674342>>64674342my indoor range is 10 mins away, very well ventilated, has knowledgeable and respectful non-fudd range boomers , lets me shoot steel case and mild steel core (7n6/m855) and lets me shoot FRTs .its pretty based.
>>64674342I've never had any problems with my local indoor range. the only drawback is that it's 25yds and pistol calibers only
>>64674342If $20 is too expensive, then guns just aren't for you.
>>64674342my local outdoor boomer range went up to $30 recently and the same senior citizen ro's still interrupt you to ask if you have a tax stamp even though you are there 2 sundays a month. I'm considering just driving over an hour to the farm range where you bring your own trash targets and need a 4x4 to get to the firing line
>>64674342>his state doesn't have public outdoor ranges that cost $25 a yearLmao even
>>64674342I’ve always preferred outdoor ranges, even in inclement weather, I can dress for it, just like I do when I go hunting. I live in the Dallas area and there are some nice indoor ranges like Mission Ridge, TGS, and the Frisco Gun Club, but they’re a little expensive for what you get. Then there are kinda lower rent indoor gun ranges like DFW, Target Master, and Shoot Smart… also expensive for what you get. Decent outdoor ranges exist in/around most major metropolitan areas. Give us some more info so we can help.
>>64674360That's not the point. The point is that paying any amount of money for a negative experience (and probably a health risk too) is retarded. In fact, doing it for free is also retarded.
>>64674360>as if on queue, the idiot incapable of understanding nuance who thinks he's clever and smart arrives in the threadMany such cases
>>64674367to get good shooting you have to go about an hour outside to get some distance or private shooting bays. otherwise just go to Texas Legends.
Then dont shoot or figure out something else.
>>64674373There really needs to be a delineation between citizens and civilians. Those are the consternations and thoughts of a civilian.
>>64674367Sup fellow North Texas anon. I prefer to go out to the one outdoor range in Sanger.
>>64674385I live closer to the city because I work a yuppie job so I can afford to be a redneck the way I want. I usually hit up Elm Fork or Gibsons depending on how I feel. I own about 160 acres, but it’s a 3.5 hour drive and I only shoot out there when I’m out there during Holidays or to maintain the property.
i work at one in a major city, its ok. as long as you arent doing the following i dont care what you do. yet somehow people still break rules>keep guns pointed downrange>dont bring guns outside the booth>slugs only for shotgun, no shot or tracers>dont shoot the walls or ceilings>one shooter in booth at a time, if the person needs your help to hold a handgun or rifle they shouldnt be shooting>dont tell me its not loaded>dont eat or drink on the rangeits pretty simple stuff. 80% of my interaction with the public is handholding for newbies which is fine, i actually like showing people how to shoot. ohh and aside from jeets showing up 5 deep who smell like curry/bo i dont have an issue with new shooters who listen
>>64674375I don’t like Legends. I dunno, suburban places like Allen just puts me off. I like tje flavor of the country or the city. Places where you drive 10 min to get out of your neighborhood development just to eat a chain restaurant is depressing fucking shit.
>>64674349Same except mine is 5 min, and a monthly membership is 30$ with unlimited range time instead of 20$ a session…. I usually go every weekend so it’s worth it. I have young kids so driving out to the middle of nowhere for a few hours isn’t something I can do a lot…. But an hour at the range while my kids take a nap is fine. Been going long enough that the staff all know me. Have bought a few guns through them. Every time I see people bitch about indoor ranges, especially about the staff I always think maybe just being a normal person and showing up more than twice will clear up a lot of the more annoying problems you can have…
>not having landshiggy diggy yngmi
>>64674397I work a blue collar job and live in a college town. Envious of y'all with property. One day, God willing.Elm fork is about half an hour away, Gibson is about an hour. I might give Elm fork a shot over the holidays.
>>64674405very true
>>64674402>Indians showing up 5 deep to try shoot a magazine on some COD looking rental>btw they’re always careless as FUCK and require hands-on direction at all fucking times. It bugs me because I know they live here, but despite that they’re behaving like tourists.
>>64674402>One shooter in booth>Breaking rulesSometimes my bro likes to shoot, he's paralyzed on his left side so I will break range rules by loading a pistol for him then place it pointing down range for him. When he's done I will unload and lock open the action.I'm a gangster.
>>64674417There’s some fine livin going on in that picture. Well done, anon.
>>64674342Yup, OP wasent a fag today. Shooting indoors fucking sucks, its a chore. All I want to do is shoot garbage and soda in the woods and do drills with my buds.
>>64674424most in my range actually dont live here thank god, my city has an international airport so a bunch of them want to shoot in between lay overs and what notits usually fine, but sometimes they are more concerned with taking photos than they are with shooting which is obnoxious
>>64674427i should have phrased it " one shooter actively shooting in a booth". picking up and placing a loaded gun on the tray doesnt bother me, its when you want to help hold/steady the gun or try to show finger placement on a loaded gun that is retarded considering we have cold steel bright green non guns you can do it with
>>64674367>>64674397I'm free until January 2nd. If anybody in n. tex wants to hang out and shoot at piles of trash let me know. I'm fat, I'm white and I have 10k rds of 7.62x29. uWu.
my gun range is a 20 minute walk away and is along a street where I pick up my morning bagel. I got a 200 dollar a year membership so I can literally just waltz up get a lane for nothing and shoot my own ammo without any inspection and I tend to shoot from 9a-noon when no one is there. Not all indoor ranges are the same. You just gotta keep looking.
>>646744377.62x39My shame is immense.
>>64674367Personally I prefer to take the drive all the way to Crockett or my dad's place 3 hours out east to shoot, but it's nice to know there are good ranges around here if I get lazy
>>64674405thats a fair point. i grew up here and use to go hunting with my dad 10 mins from my house.
>>64674437i'll go with you anon, I just got an ARC fire i need to test out
>>64674413or just don't shoot at the indoor range in niggerville.the employees there are just overly fatigued and stressed. ranges that have competent people shooting at them tend to have cooler staff
>>64674470(323) 763-5565 is my burner number. Hit me up.
>>64674413>elipsesYou’re a grouchy old man now, anon.
>>64674470If you have a preferred l contact method/don't use burners let me know here.
>own your own landyou mean you dad's land?
>>64674342Nigger problem cause and experienced by niggers.
>>64674531Or an uncle, a family friend, hell even a coworker. Literally anything is better than an indoor public range. How could someone be so antisocial they don't know a single person with a place to shoot?
>>64674591nta but all my land owning friends are across the river in jersey. I'd rather shoot indoors than go there on purpose
>>64674606Love PA, hate Jersey. They’re so different, it’s crazy. My best whitetail hunt ever was in PA.
>>64674525disc: mrstealyourgold
>>64674342>Has anyone ever actually had a FANTASTIC experience at a public indoor gun range?Yes, until it got bought by the local county police department. It had lots of lanes at varying distances, and the ventilation and lighting were good. I'm still salty about that.
>>64674372Learn how to spell cue. Or was it your intention to look like an illiterate retard?
>>64674349>>64674342More worried about lead exposure. Indoor will probably always be more no even with best ventilation .
>>64674375>>64674405This is where I go because it's close. I don't feel alienated from the suburban setting. It's kind of nice? Like there are running trails... eh, there are different preferences. Allen is kind of like where the kids from Starship Troopers grew up:https://youtu.be/DcDWMb6uins>>64674397Oh hey I've been there. That's the most Dale Gribble range I've been to around here. I used to go to Quail Creek a lot.
What's /k/'s idea of a good hobby and outdoor life?Since /k/ has so many opinions.
>>64674405While I hate the soullessness of suburban & urban areas(DFW is particularly bad) that food comment is pure cope. The whole frisco-plano-allen area is filled with pretty good restaurants with lots of weird ethnic choices and hole in the wall joints. Going from semi-rural Missouri to here literally the only good thing about it is the food.>>64675436Texas legends I remember as being OK back when I was in Allen but nothing great other than being new. The range rules here are really gay. After talking to multiple range employees at different ranges the pretty consistent story is that it's actually an issue with their insurance provider, of which there are almost no alternatives. Supposedly there were some high profile accidents resulting in large payouts a decade or two back contributing to things.I've been having decent luck with rangeusa weirdly enough. $30 a month gets you a basic membership and the ROs tend to be more lenient with members but ymmv.
>>64674342No, those are for testing guns. They don't even let you draw from the holster or present from slung, do reload or failure drills, or move. Not realistic at all. It's just to check if a gun fires and do initial noob safety and accuracy training. If this is where you shoot you're a notraining noob.
>>64674504… shit happens
>go to local indoor range>sign behind the counter saying AR and AK pistols are banned due "risk of damaging range">have witnessed three seperate occasions where niggers had to leave because they only brought "tha choppa" to shootLife is pretty kickass sometimes
>>64675500>The range rules here are really gay. That's true. I think Elm Fork might be better on that, iirc they allow steel 7.62 in their tac bay. Or at least they did last time I was there. There was a range out east of Lake Lavon that also allowed it but that was awhile ago since I was there, and I can't vouch for it. But yeah pretty much you're driving 45 minutes to an hour or more out of town if you want to relax.>I've been having decent luck with rangeusa weirdly enough. Huh. I've never been to that one.>While I hate the soullessness of suburban & urban areas(DFW is particularly bad) that food comment is pure cope ... Going from semi-rural Missouri to here literally the only good thing about it is the food.Food and shopping. I grew up in DFW and I was born dead inside. I think the soullessness comes from the city having grown up on back of "paper" industries from wholesale merchandising and then to insurance and finance. Texas oil became important during the world wars, but there's no oil underneath DFW, rather Dallas was the financial hub for the capital investments necessary to build out that infrastructure to the west with oil profits then recapitalized in commercial real estate like shopping malls. Then came big corporations and defense / aerospace with Lockheed in Fort Worth. It's not a sea port, doesn't have a navigable river, and the scenery isn't much to look at, so it's like it promoted itself into existence. Then JFK got his brains blown out in downtown which is the worst thing that can happen to a civic culture that prides itself on being NORMAL so the tendency was to double down and become Delta City. It's this giant economic sucking machine and now you're right here in the middle of it... with me.
>>64674342>letting anyone else fingerfuck YOUR gunsYou're literally a cuck lmao
>>64674342The indoor range near me is pretty good but I had to stop going there because it was like #1 in Texas for rented gun suicides and I nearly missed 2. In fact I can be seen leaving in the video of one of the suicides, I missed it by seconds and I hear everyone else was stuck there for hours. Red's in Austin, if anyone's interested. The one by the Tinseltown off the highway.
>>64675918Huh. I thought insurance companies made bringing your own gun or a buddy a requirement to avoid that.
Family land is always best. Finally got better than 50% hit rate at one mile. My brother used his 300 blk while I used 338 lapua. My father still cant get past 1000 yards and with his eyesight getting noticeably worse every year, probably won't ever now. Nephews are doing texas stars younger than i did and I will do my damndest to get them shooting regularly.
>>64675931AFAIK that's really more up to the ranges than anything else. I Googled "Red's Austin gun rental suicides" and apparently someone offed themselves the day after Thanksgiving 2020, which is years after I stopped going. Even a buddy system wouldn't have stopped one of my near misses, which was a lady shooting her kid then herself.
>>64674342>20$Noguns foreigner detected.
It gets better! In that enclosed space, the gunsmoke lingers in the air, so you get all those delicious lead particulates from the primer directly into your lungs.
>>64675918>Red's in AustinAh yeah. I went two or three times when I lived around there and got flagged on one occasion.
COME ON YOU APESYOU WANNA SHOP FOREVER?(The answer is yes)(Because you can't get enough of these low prices)
>>64674342>check my ammoDo gun ranges really? I've never had one do anything like this.
>>64674342Im the guy next to except im italian (read: not white) and its 6.5 grendel and a flash supressor not 5.56 and a brake.
>>64674364You have to wear a “I love Regan” shirt, this is a way for the RO to remember you.
>>64675747>DFW"the big rich" by Bryan Burroughs. It's on Audible. 11/10.
>>64674364Tell them in no uncertain terms to fuck off. The only person you have to show a tax stamp to is an ATF agent, and they aren't that.>You got a tax stamp for that? Let's see it!>Sure, you got a social security number? Let's see it, boomer.
>>64676313I've been to outdoor ranges in N. Texas that don't allow steel core. Worried about sparks setting fires. Others give zero fucks. Some indoor ranges prohibit steel case ammo because they're fucking retarded brass goblins.
>>64674342>public indoor gun rangeGod im glad im a private land chad
>>64674342Hey. You sound like you live in a nonwhite area and are broke! That sucks.
>>64674470>>64674488Mein Gott. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Protip: don’t eat the brownies
>>64676473>Tell them in no uncertain terms to fuck off.Which they will then do to you, with more significant results.
>>64674342>not living within 30 minutes of a private outdoor range with a $50 annual membership
>>64679118It's weird that some people here think having the equivalent of a chode off is a good idea
