Christmas Eve 1944 in the Ardennes forest (near the Belgian border) during the Battle of the Bulge.A 12-year-old German boy, Fritz Vincken, and his mother Elisabeth sheltered three lost American soldiers (one wounded) in their remote cabin. Later, four German soldiers also arrived seeking shelter. Elisabeth insisted on peace for the night, declaring "It is the Holy Night and there will be no shooting here." The soldiers surrendered their weapons, shared a meal (including a rooster intended for the family's Christmas), prayed together, and spent the night peacefully. On Christmas morning, they parted ways amicably—the Germans even helped the Americans by providing directions and a stretcher.
