Give me (1) good reason you need more than these three guns. These three cover 99% of scenarios you would ever need a gun for.
>>
Give me one reason you need more than rice, beans, and a few assorted vegetables to stay alive. That covers 99% of your dietary requirements for any scenario.

Excluding the beans, I already do this.
99% of my meals consist solely of chicken, rice, and a few assorted vegetables.

I find it ironic that people brag out this being a "minimalist" loadout, yet they never go hunting or shoot skeet and thus the shotgun is entirely redundant, defeating the whole fucking point.

The most gay thing are the people buying guns for "defense". Guns are toys.

>"need"
One concealable 357mag or 10mm is all you "need" for anything other than sports where other things are banned.

If you're an urbanoid, a concealable 9mm is all you need for self defense, home defense, and sport shooting at your indoor range.

If you're rural, you probably need a rifle chambered in a real rifle round for proper hunting. And probably some .22s for plinking and practice.

If you belong on this board, then you "need" every gun you can get.
>>
>>64684214
Those are the basic 3 that cover MOST needs, but there's a lot of other niches.

>Want to hunt.
ARs can't be used everywhere and 5.56mm/300 BLK aren't suitable for all game. A lightweight bolt action in 308 or potentially a more powerful caliber may be necessary depending on what is being hunted.
>Long range.
5.56mm tops out at about 500yd and is losing a ton of energy around 300 under ideal conditions. Theoretically the AR could be an AR-10 and accomplish multiple tasks, but there are steep trade offs.
>Plinking.
Ammunition costs are not as crazy as they were in 2021, but still somewhat high and most people haven't had an adequate income bump to deal with inflation. 22lr is a good way to get a lot of practice for not a lot of money. Theoretically one could convert a 5.56mm AR to 22LR with a drop in bolt and magazine. Similar conversions exist for many pistols like Glock, but it's just not as good as a standalone plinker.
>Skeet/trap/bird hunting.
Theoretically any shotgun CAN do that but not every shotgun can do it well. The most versatile affordable shotgun is going to be a Mossberg 500 or Maverick 88 combo gun with the interchange barrels which gets you most of the way there, but trying to shoot doubles with a pump action sucks. There's a reason why good over/unders are still popular.
A lot of people just get a tactical HD shotgun and miss out on everything else that a more versatile setup can offer. Besides which the training value of being able to shoot at moving targets is incredible.
>>
>>64684214
As somebody with multiple 12gauge pumps if you are only going to have 1 shotgun dont make it a pump.
You buy pump cause it's cheap. If you are limited to 1 gun you can save up to buy something worth having. A quality semi auto is better in everyway but price. You can argue oh a pump shoots every load but you don't actually do that. You do that once for fun then never again.

I want to kill a moose I put body armor on so I need armor piercing 7mm Remington Ultra Magnum.
>>
>>64684214

I have these three and then a 22 rifle with a nice scope just for funsies. There are lots of others I'd like but don't need to be wasting money on I suppose.

>yet they never go hunting
Do most gun owners actually not hunt? It seems like it would be the obvious next step after buying your first shotgun/rifle/etc.
Both hobbies go together hand-in-hand.
>>
>>64684214
For me it's
>AR-9 with a funny fart trigger
>Benelli M3
>Smith and Wesson Shield Plus PC
There, we have a great carry piece, loads of fun for cheap, plus technically 2 different shotguns with only 3 guns. If we're trying to maximize capability and fun with only 3, I can't think of a better lineup
>>
>>64688746
I went hunting for the first time roughly 10 years after I purchased my first gun. My dad didn't hunt, so I never learned how.

>Give me (1) good reason you need more than these
