Do the upper echelon military dudes continue to train with firearms throughout their careers, or would they be completely useless in a fight?
>>
>>64691064
The upper echelon military dudes job is coordination and administration, if they are running around shooting dudes on the ground instead of the rest of the soldiers seems like you've fucked up
>>
>>64691085
What if their base gets overrun?
>>
>>64691089
Then you have fucked up
>>
>>64691091
So in that scenario, would the big wigs be able to hold their own?
>>
>>64691095
In that scenario they’ve already lost
>>
>>64691095
Probably better than the average person but it would be irrelevant because everyone will be dead shortly after because their base got overran which means all of the others are already gone.

To get to your root: they’ve trained for years, some of them are probably fantastic shots, but they’re older and it isn’t their core competency, and if they need to shoot - it’s a last stand for honor’s sake - not for winning.

(These captchas are tangibly wrong sometimes)

>>64691112
So you don't think Lieutenant Colonel Michael A. Aquino Jr. would have been able to "hold the line" as it were? Why don't they train these guys more with guns?
>>
>>64691124
Just say outright what your personal agenda for making this thread was.
>>
What embarrasment has the axis of stupid suffered today?
>>
>>64691124
What part about "it would be irrelevant" did you absolute brainlet fail to understand? A Lieutenant Colonel who is in a firefight is not doing his fucking job.
>>
>>64691126
My personal agenda for making this thread was finding out whether the top salamis in the military would be capable of defending themselves using military weapons, or if they would not be able to because they don't really train.
>>
how come we never talk about chinese generals?
>>
>>64691150
Because this is an American website hosted in America that was created by an American for an American audience and is primarily used by Americans.

They will be able to point and shoot a fucking gun. Happy?
>>
>>64691160
>They will be able to point and shoot a fucking gun.
So can I. Does that mean I'm military grade?
>>
>>64691144
I don't think you understand what LT Col's job actually is, especially in an infantry battalion.
>>
>>64691169
What was this Lt. COL's job?
>>
Is this not just the "pilots don't need to train with guns" autist again?
>>
>>64691175
The guy who's obsessively replied to my thread and every post in it screeching about how officers don't need to know how to shoot? Probably.
>>
>>64691124
considering he was a green beret I think he'd do just fine
>>
>>64691186
His role with the Green Berets was making spooky ghost tapes to play in the jungle to scare Charlie lol
>>
>>64691188
he still completed the green beret course and got his special forces tab. whould you like to keep moving the goalposts?
>>
>>64691064
They cannot.
>>
>>64691211
>he still completed the green beret course and got his special forces tab
Am I supposed to find that impressive?
>>
>>64691222
you asked a question and I gave you the correct answer, how impressed you are is irrelevant
>>
>>64691164
No, you also need an IQ of at least 80.
>>
>>64691230
>You asked a question, and I gave you the correct answer. How impressed you are is irrelevant.
ftfy
>>
>>64691239
I only missed three questions on the ACT. What IQ does that correlate to?
>>
>>64691064
The short answer is that you made this thread because characters level up linearly in your games.

In the real world they re-class to office work which sometimes does involve understanding capabilities of various systems and logistics chains. It does not include training basic weapons skills.

If a high-up officer can shoot, it's basically because they are a "cool" officer that has passion for the job and does it on their own. The position does not require it and any "tactical" / "squad" / "individual" level skills are remnants of whatever they were before they got promoted to captain/major.

This is somewhat true with a lot of professions - a lot of IT directors can't type or code for shit, but the ones who can are given more respect and arguably understand their underlings better.
>>
>>64691371
I assure you, that was not why I made this thread lol
>>
>>64691376
>Admitting to making a slide thread
>>
>>64691376
No, I'm saying I can't stand when people compare real life to video games, and you'll never see me doing that shit on here lol
>>
>>64691387
oops, obviously meant for
>>64691382
>>
>>64691376
1. Why did you make the thread then?
2. >>64691387 - right, because you are way too much of an adult to do that, especially given the question you just asked.
>>
>>64691250
Correlates to you being smart on paper and a fucking retard in real life
>>
>>64691424
I didn't "just" ask. I made the thread two hours ago.
>>
>>64691064
Michael Aquino was a mentat?
>>
>>64691489
There are photos of him as a small child and his eyebrows were always like that lmao
>>
>>64691164
>So can I. Does that mean I'm military grade?
I think you're under the impression that the military is a bunch of supermen kicking in doors 24/7 rather than the reality, which is that the military may be stafed by a not-small number of illiterates and the mentally ill. This misimpression is understandable because there is an entire industry dedicated to making it appear like it's the former. In reality it's basically a human trafficking pimp that hangs around high schoolers and says, no, baby, it's gonna be great. Just come work for me and I'll make you rich, buy you nice clothes, take real good care of you... ain't nobody gonna fuck with Uncle Sam's girl. Before you know it you're blowing dirty truckers for $20 and addicted to meth.

So did this guy fuck all those little children at the military daycare in San Francisco? Does anyone believe he's actually dead?
>>
>>64691169
If you think a battalion CO should be on the frontline and spend his time shooting at people, your understanding of military matters is some 150+ years out of date.
>>
>>64691064
No more than the CEO of Pepsi works on the bottling line. They might go down there occasionally out of nostalgia or curiosity.
