There is absolutely nothing creative about it. Varang was hot, sure. Other than that they put zero effort into making it "realistic" - I understand it's a cartoon for children and manchildren, but "we hide under the rocks" as a tactic two times in a row is insulting even to children's intelligence.

Not to mention zero character or story evolution and part 2 being a copy paste of part one.

They could have created a meaningful story and meaningful conflict given the budget and run time.

Personally, I would have gone for tunnels with muh lava. Can't just orbital bombard those. Can have WATER TUNNELS (whoah), etc.

As is, there is no reason why one AC-130 couldn't have cleared the whole planet.

Xenos are a hard sell, but they're pretty peaceful if left alone. They're not really a problem for humans until Predators and Weyland-Yutani bring them to Earth.
Predators have a strict honor code (or did before the new line of movies), do not hunt unarmed people, nor do they kill children. It's kinda funny that a reptilian race of aliens has more morals and ethics than a reptilain race of people.

Except it actually made sense. Instead of the blue people outreach program being a waste of everyone's time, they were ambassadors to try and convince the blue people to mine the magic rocks from the floating mountains. In the movie version, the avatars don't make any sense, the floating mountains don't make any sense, and the magic rocks only being under the tree doesn't make any sense. The bullet in that video is significantly more bottlenecked than the one in your picture, and 500 nitro isn't bottlenecked at all. I suspect the original cartridge was indeed meant to be similar to a big game cartridge at least broadly, but somewhere along the design changed.

In other words if that gun in the clip is 12.7x76, you're missing a vital third measurement comparing it to a straight wall cartridge of the same case length and projectile width.

>This was implied in the first one tho.
No it wasn't, they just wanted the blue people to fuck off so they could do the mining with their heavy machinery. In the original script, human tech didn't work in the magic flying mountains because the extreme amount of magic was like a permanent EMP.

>The unobtainium in the mountains and the ground creates a maglev effect, making them float
Except in the movie, the unobtainium isn't in the flying moutains, it's beneath the tree.

>It wasn't only under the hometree, it was just the biggest deposit that was the closest
And yet human tech works there, so clearly they could have just found a different deposit and landed a spaceship there and not have to deal with the blue people at all. In the original script the entire planet was incredibly hostile and the human-like blue people were the only thing they could really interact with. In the movie, the planet is largely peaceful and the human-like blue people are their only real problem. Just moving to a location without blue people would have been quick and easy and conflict-free.

Straight from Project 880 in 1995. The Matrix thing is completely made up btw. It's been human batteries as far back as the first drafts in the early 90s.
>Added to this unique phenomenon is another... Pandora is blessed with a naturally occurring substance a million times more precious than gold. Its joke name of "unobtanium" has stuck, over the years. Unobtanium is a rare-earth mineral, formed volcanically, which is a room-temperature superconductor.
>The room temperature superconductor has been the "snark" of modern materials science... a substance which transmits electricity with zero resistance, but at normal temperatures, rather than the liquid-helium cooled superconductors of human science.
>Unobtanium does not exist in our solar system. It is unique to Pandora. And it is the reason to go there...the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow bridge.

>Because it's a smaller concentration of the stuff but still large and more easily accessible than the mountains
Okay, so find a smaller but still large and easily accessible deposit somewhere else. They have spaceships capable of landing anywhere on the planet.

>No? Quaritch explicitly says this multiple times
Quaritch is a xenophobe bigot, we're shown zero evidence in the movies that the planet would make any attempt to fight off the humans without the guidance of the blue people. Even the whales were just going to fuck off before the blue people covinced them to fight.
>>
as a plant autist, the thing that pisses me off is that they turned the coolness of the real-life wood-wide-web, a complex connective system of Mycorrhizal fungi and grafted root webs, into the typical "mother earth" bullshit, with the entire pandoran ecosystem being a slave to this dumbass goddess.
in real life, this system is an incredibly interesting reciprocal system that allows plants to violently compete and still support younger generations of trees growing beneath the canopy at the same time. direct resources to damaged parts of the forest, create higher resilience to drought, and acts as an information highway that can transport data about humidity, plant predation, and possibly even the vibration caused by large animal movement. i understand it's less digestible or something. but i think it would've been much cooler if it was a completely unthinking third party to the conflict between the humans and na'vi and sprung into action without people praying and calling for it because it recognized parts of it were being destroyed by a foreign invader.
alternatively, it'd be more realistic if the na'vi could act as a highly effective insurgent force by using the forest as a covert intelligence network. allowing them to coordinate and track targets by tapping into the connected forest.

Marvel Studios is a literal content mill that pumps out slop by the quarterly. 75% of the films are already prefabricated by jeet vfx farms before the studio picks some flavor of the month indie director to shoot the dialogue scenes. They aren't even allowed to touch the action scenes.

James Cameron is an auteur/autist who spent 9 years lovingly crafting every object in Pandora down to the minutiae.

Not being able to tell the difference is a glimpse into what being a callous slop-poisoned tard must be like.

See, that's the series I'd make.
>nagging HR Eywa keeps Na'vi at stone age for her own pleasure

>Eywa's perpetual childhood of the Na'vi backfires and they're enslaved easily
>Humans come to Pandora to trade with Cardassians
>something something eventually Human-led Na'vi insurgency starts
>initially Eywa is happy for human support
>then it becomes clear that the Na'vi cannot and will not return to stone age
>Eywa switches sides to the Cardassians and now the Na'vi-Human alliance must fight the old "goddess" as well

the based position here is to not have strong opinions on the movies as they are a visual spectacle with a simple premise that will probably be a decent bit of fun to watch if your normalfag friends/family pay for your ticket (my situation) but ultimately it's biggest value is as a springboard for sensual erotic fantasies with 10 foot tall blue cat women, and the artisans who will make these fantasies come to life with drawings.

>Dances with Wolves, Pocahontas, The Last Samurai
The last samurai is pocahontas in japan, dances with wolves is civil war pocahontas, fern gully is magic pocahontas, so the fuck what? All of these are great movies midwit. All great art is iterative, since the fucking dawn of time. Shakespeare literally copy pasted plot points from antiquity.

the collapse of human civilisation is not good for a megacorpo anon, you're up your own ass.
>>
>>64693331
And solving the crisis isn't in their interest either

Also it is canon that they do actually sabotage the alternatives to unobtainium
>>
>>64693331
NTA
In the first movie the only explanation was "it's money" and there was not a single thing about it they said was specifically useful. They could have been snorting it.
I don't know what the later movies said because I didn't watch them.

Also anything that stops urbanoids from starving and dying of exposure is evil. /k/ is a staunchly pro collapse board.
>>
>>64693345
They say it's a room temperature superconductor
>>
>>64693331
The energy crisis is their own damned fault. The interstellar transport network uses up a truly colossal amount of energy with every single launch, between the energy used to create antimatter for the ship reactors and the massive laser that pushes the ISV's sail, which uses enough power in a single launch to run a large country for a year.

The funny thing is i actually like 40k. Few things can tickle the lizard part of my subconscious that craves baroque displays of violence and dominance like Big brutal space knights murdering waves of aliens can. I just accept 40k as the cotton candy retarded fun that it is. The "Um actually 40k is a total ripoff of Rome, the bible and medieval Knights" like midwits like to do to avatar is an extremely gay non-critique.

Honestly what ticks me off the most is powerscaling faggots going "Oooh, if this planet-busting Space Magic faction was here the stone age blue cat aliens will be in sooo much trouble!" as if it's somehow impressive.
Like. Fuck the entire hell off. Avatar is, for the most part, a hard sci-fi setting, where just GETTING TO Pandora is a herculean effort. They do not have the time nor the mass to 'just drop rocks on them bro' or whatever, nor is fucking destroying the only other known semi-habitable planet in the galaxy a viable option.
>>
>>64693379

Yes. Quaritch gets briefly captured by sexy fire shaman lady (Varang). She is amazed by guns which she thinks are magic. He teaches her to shoot and she's impressed by him. He escapes. But later when he needs help tracking Jake, he goes to her village to meet her and he offers to give her tribe guns in exchange for her help. She agrees and loves the guns so much she drags him to her tent to fuck and becomes his gf. It's the best sequence of the entire movie.
