Why isn't the 5.56 RDB more popular? I shot one at the range today as it was extremely pleasant to shoot. Nice trigger and adjustable gas system
>>64692773Lots of reasons. It isn't a military design so people don't trust it.It's made by Kel-Tec so people REALLY don't trust it.Their accuracy is only so-so. You aren't going to be measuring groups with a ruler, more of a rifle for shooting steel at medium range.Heat management is poor, so you get heat stringing due to the thin barrel warming up pretty fast and there is no metal heat shielding in the handguard.Taking it apart for cleaning is a process most people aren't familiar with. The downwards ejection likes to shove hot brass down your shirt or pockets. You have to flip the rifle upside down to check/clear it.Most of these are minor problems. I have one and I like it. I think it does a good job scratching the bullpup itch and it is affordable, but you have to be down for the Kel-Tec Jank or it's cheap build quality will bother you immensely. It is far from the first or only KT product I've owned.
>>64692845Good assessment, I had a su16. Keltec is one step above airsoft build quality. It's a shame, they have interesting ideas, but will not invest in infrastructure to improve their manufacturing capabilities, or license their products to someone who will make a better version
The action is inherently unreliable due to the finicky ejection system. Not that this matters for civilians...
>>64692898If it was more expensive it probably wouldn't sell. The RDB is currently the cheapest rifle caliber bullpup on the market, if it cost north of 1k it would have to compete with a lot more designs on more even footing.>>64692919No worse than the forward ejecting chute of the RFB and F2000.
the RDB has the chunkiest recoil sound. Almost like a scar. Otherwise trigger is nice and recoil is very nice. It definitely feels cheap tho
>>64692845>Their accuracy is only so-so. You aren't going to be measuring groups with a ruler, more of a rifle for shooting steel at medium range.About 2.5 MOA in my experience, using M855
>>64693012>using M855That's actually quite good, half my AR uppers are around there with M855.What twist barrels do they have? Tried anything heavier like 75 or 77gr?
>>64692845I got one for essentially 450 dollars, so i Think mine fucking kicks ass.but for 1000 i can see why people are hesitant.
>>64693069Same, got mine secondhand for about as much. Used KTs sell for basically nothing so there's nothing to lose.
>>64693062I haven't. Actually I have exclusively run complete dogshit ammo through it - reman ammo, my buddy's questionable reloads, steel case, everything cheap. Ran great for thousands of rounds of that (3000-4000 if I had to guess) but a spring in the trigger assembly snapped a while back and I still haven't done a warranty claim on it
>>64692773I could see it as a decent backpack gun if you were schizo enough to keep one in your car
>>64692773i love the C model if only because it's a giant middle finger to gun laws and even slips through IL's fucking absurd AR ban
