I've seen a few pakols around, and while not distinctly Afghan our operators' long involvement considerably broadened the shemagh's appeal. When two cultures meet (or collide, in this case) the exchange is never entirely one-sided. Their war rugs are fucking hilarious too, big fan of their take on the classic "Grandma's Persian rug" tessellated pattern but it's all predator drones.
Not that I disagree with your premise - Americana's remarkable appeal being what it is tends to include things that nobody in charge counted on being traded. Like tough-guy personas' fascination with The Punisher.
