It was stupid on a conceptual level. Like you're going to shoot somebody in the back at point blank range, and you need something that doesn't look like a gun in case you get searched by authorities as they hunt the assassin, so you choose a big strange gauntlet? Like if they were procured for northern Europe where people wore winter coats with long cuffs, then it might have passed a cursory inspection; but remember these were specifically procured for the pacific theatre by naval intelligence with either rolled sleeves or chambray shirts.

Sounds and animates heavily, feels good, and looks like something that someone at some point would have reasonably come up with.
