Is now a good time to join the US military? I'm on the fence... but I also don't have anything going on as a civilian. Any branch/job recs? I feel kinda burnt out on life, maybe a change of pace would be nice. I don't really care for the current admin but it's just a job.

Hijacking this thread with a question, is there a civilian alternative to the coast guard if you simply want to help people stranded or sinking or is the USCG the only organization available that would allow me to do that?
it's not bad. consider it a place to lay your head (and the benefits that come with it) while you actively plan for the future. those 4 years will go by QUICK. pick smart job (try to get clearance)use tuition assistance asapsecure job with defense contractor etc at bestmaybe federal agency as backupat worst, commission with degree or you can go the fun route and do something cool, then figure all your shit out in college later, but this seems to be where it falls apart for most vets. it will change you. it could make you bitter. it could make you stoic. who knows. veteran suicide rates are up there. i can guarantee most of your remaining innocence will probably fade. but then again, your wagie job will do this too. but you really shouldn't. you might still do it anyway tho. i was told not to and did it out of spite.
