Are Zerg weapons realistically comparable to Protoss and Terran weapons? It seems like both should have the weapons to wipe out the Zerg without that much difficulty.
>>64705686Magic zerg evolution means that even if you upgrade your bullets to penetrate thicker armour, they evolve thicker armour; you make longer-ranged guns, they evolve stronger projectile-throwing muscles; you make stealth fighters, they evolve psi detection organs; etc
>>64705686look up pistol shrimp and tell me nature isn't scary
the only thing odd is that their air units keep up with protoss and terrainprobably something about optimal engagement trajectory
>>64705686They had to nerf Zerg so many times just to keep the Finn down that despite being a M3 Zerg, my MMR is higher as Protoss because it's literally a sleep at the wheel and A move with a death ball race.If anything, it's a miracle that the Terrans and Toss have managed to even hold ground.
>>64705686Look at the numbers of the Zerg, Terrans, and Protoss in the original SC manual. There aren't that many humans in the Korpulu sector and the Protoss are so short of man power that they stuff their wounded guys in robot suits. Korhal was just inhabited by a several thousands. The UED managed to subdue the Dominion with just a tiny expedition force.Compare that to the size of the various zerg broods in the SC manual. The zerg are strong because there are so many of them. But SC2 threw that out of the window. The population numbers given in WoL make no sense. The population figures for Korhal are given as 6 billion. Several thousand people over a period of 300 years cannot create such a large population. First Tarsonis was destroyed and “billions” of people died. Then the Zerg invaded in Wings of Liberty and “billions” more died. And Korhal still has “billions” left on it. The math simply makes no sense, especially considering that Korhal itself was nothing but a smoldering desert backwater four years ago.Analysing the strength of factions is pointless because none of the writers of SC2 every cared about it. It's all about the characters now like in some shitty animu.
>>64705763SC2 fails on so many levels, it should be no surprise to anyone that the population figures in the background lore is just nonsense.
>>64705810It's a great RTS but the story is dogshit. The pic is disingenuous because the tank would need some form of high ground vision to spot its shots.
>>64705840>It's a great RTS but the story is dogshitI agree. I especially like the controls and the way the units move, it feels very intuitive. The tiny maps in WoL were pretty bad though, even if I miss playing on Metalopolis.
Thoughts on the Terran Marine power armor and its assembly process?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBKd-eas6So
>>64705852WoL had better overall balance for ladder. I don't like the 12 worker start and never have. It takes early game down to a handful of minutes and taking your natural first is almost never the wrong decision vs early harass to the point early Zerg pressure is outright awful.>>64705985It's iconic and timeless. The original Metzen artwork is better than the newer stuff though.
>>64705985The SC1 design was so much cooler, SC2's giant gun looks like a toy and everything's too shiny. Also, here's an old meme vid from the times of the SC2 beta.
>>64706016Fug, forgot the link.www.youtube.com/watch?v=iVktU3mTWKg
>>64706008>WoL had better overall balance for ladderHard disagree. T dominated early on, before the reaper and tank nerfs. Then you had all the boring garbage like the archon toilet and the blord infestor combo. All the early big design flaws were masked by WoL's tiny maps.
>>64705810>NOOOOOOO IT'S NOT A TURBO AUTISTIC ARTILLERY PHYSICS SIMULATOR!Ever consider that it was never meant to be, and maybe that's the reason people still play it in esports tourneys in SK but no one plays Total Annihilation?
>>64705840>It's a great RTSThe hell it is. It's very limited in scope.
>>64706052The point is that it has major technical flaws. It's not like TA is a a realistic artillery sim either, but it doesn't make fuckups that basic. And more importantly, it's much more broad. There's more kinds of aircraft or naval units alone in TA than units period in SC2.>no one plays Total Annihilation?People play its derivative mods, like Escalation, SupCom, BAR, and so on. Original TA has balance issues which is a different problem altogether.
>>64706074>The point is that it has major technical flawsNo, it doesn't. Do you also get angry that rockets to the face aren't one hit kills in TF2 or Quake?
>>64706008>The original Metzen artwork is better than the newer stuff though.Wish Metzen just stuck to doing edgy metalhead artwork instead of handling the story.
>>64705757>the FinnWho?>If anything, it's a miracle that the Terrans and Toss have managed to even hold groundZerg has always been OP competitivelyTerrans have to micro like Maru just to keep up; Protoss got major buffs with LOTV mechanics
>>64705686Conventional organic weapons in sci-fi are all bullshit. Star Wars, 40K, Starcraft, you name it. Flesh and blood can't compare to steel and oil, it's just nonsense. Sheer numbers is the only way these things can realistically win if they are to have even the smallest resemblance to what we call organics. Fundamentally they're all mostly sacks of water and that poses strong limitations on what they can achieve. The energy density of blood can't compare to gasoline, even if you saturate it fully with glucose or whatever equivalent you care to name. The heat output of any system outputting anything approaching modern weaponry will boil any creature alive. No organic material can compare to engineered materials, you can loophole it by saying you're growing metal alloys or ceramics or whatever, but at this point you've destroyed the aesthetics of both the creatures by turning them into robots with factories but with a superficial flesh veneer.
>>64705840Yeah. The story is garbo but I love WoL's campaign, I come back to it every once in a while because it's actually fun.>>64706179I concur.
>>64706026Kek
>>64705721Perfect image
>>64706179In the sense of meat-guns or whatever, sure. But there's a lot to be said for infantry with chameleonic nanotube skin and double the metabolic rate who can ingest hydrocarbons. Imagine the logistics.
>>64705686Since when did /k/ become some /vg/ nigger offshoot? Like holy fuck.
>>64706348Weapons are weapons, dude.
