the seller says not to use them in self loading shotguns (pumps and semi) will they just get stuck occasionally or will it damage the extractor(s)?

>Paying $40 for a thing and then launching it 20 yards into the dirt every time you use it
Literally why not just buy a single shot .22? It will pay for itself the very first time you lose your adapter thing.

the videos i've watched on the rifled adapters show them to be accurate enough to take small game at reasonable range. I already own a number of rim fires.
I'm trying to make a concept gun out of a mossberg shockwave 590S. in my head I call it a "guide gun"
my boss was telling me a story of a hunter and his friend who were hunting in Alaska in september of 2001. they flew in and were supposed to be picked up on the 12th. as you can imagine, something happened the day prior that prevented them from being picked up and as they had no sat phone or radio, they had no idea what that was.
they ended up having to live off the land for the rest of the month and as they only had one rifle and one large revolver and less than 30 shots between the two, they could not hunt small game well. they were attacked by a bear that had previously stolen the goat they went there to get, and they killed it and lived off of it until it spoiled.
anyway, this got me thinking about a compact, gun that could lob slugs to kill bears, buckshot to kill wolves and deer, birdshot to kill birds, and now im wondering if you could bring a .22 adapter and a brick of .22 to kill rabbits and squirrels and the like.

I doubt that. The vitals on a squirrel are the size of a nickel. good luck hitting that with an adapter that doesn't necissarily align with the sights on the gun.

Shotguns are already great for shooting small game, just use small shot sizes.

I don't get how this concept aligns with an expensive adapter that will get launched into the aether every time you cycle the action.

>I doubt that.
well, I do too. But i'm willing to try it for 40 bucks. like i said, the on paper results from the video were impressive.
>vitals on a squirrel are the size of a nickel
we are talking about survival here. blood shot meat still sustains life.
>Shotguns are already great for shooting small game, just use small shot sizes.
i know that man. but in my mind there is an obvious advantage to being able to carry 100 .22 shells for the same weight and space as 5 birdshot shells

i would place my right hand over the ejection port with each shot and catch the adaptor upon pulling the action back with my left. as I do with any shell i eject for a shotgun that i want to keep off the ground.

It's called a shotgun

Then I think you'll probably be fine since I'm pretty sure that's the reason they don't recommend pumps or semis, but I still feel like there are much better ways to do what you're trying to do.

Why couldn't they get picked up

Im open to suggestions. but i can't think of anything beyond bringing a whole other gun like my AR-7. which would be an exilent choice for such a situation. but im trying to cut this down to one do all gun, mostly as an experiment or proof of concept. I am not actually going to be marooned in Alaska for a month. I hope.
I thought It might be fun to hunt each species the upland game in my area, fill my doe and buck tags, and kill a few coyotes all with one gun in 2026, just as a demonstration. and document it in a blog or video format. idk, maybe go down to visit some family in texas and kill a few hogs with it too. nothing ground breaking. we all know that shotguns can do all those things. but i think the idea is kind of neat

Combination gun, or a shotgun and a .22 pistol, or a break action shotgun.

I guess I'll contribute.
I shot one of these out of an AR once.

I still have the barrel. let me find the pictures.

Blood shot meat is fine for survival, but game that got away is not.

I'm sure they will shoot fine out of a semi or pump but you will have to manually single-load them through the ejection port. Obviously they won't cycle the action in a gas operated gun. Theoretically ones in large pistol calibers or rifle calibers could cycle an intertia action semi like most Benellis but I wouldn't trust them to feed reliably, and in .22LR they won't cycle a damn thing.

A .410. 3" 5-pellet 000 is no joke for emergency defense or hunting medium/large game and you've got smaller shot sizes for smaller game. Alternately, a 12ga but carry mostly minishells.

Combination gun is great, though they tend to fall into the categories of crappy or expensive as balls. Break-action shotty you can use with a full length adapter is absolutely worth considering.

>Combination gun, or a shotgun and a .22 pistol, or a break action shotgun.
I was wanting a repeating shotgun for follow-up shots on dangerous game. and a .22 pistol would be nice. but id like to keep this at one gun. also, the adaptor is far lighter than any .22 pistol.
>>64707787
squib load or did you try and shoot with that laser bore sighter in?
>I'm sure they will shoot fine out of a semi or pump but you will have to manually single-load them through the ejection port.
thats fine. Im not trying to get fast splits or anything. it would probably top out at two shots a minute. I just want to test the accuracy. but not if the adapter would harm the gun
>>
>>64707816
>I just want to test the accuracy.
Go for it. They might not be accurate but I can't see any way that they could harm your gun. I can see them not ejecting reliably due to the weight, but harming the gun? No.

chiappa make the double badger which ive always wanted to buy. they also make a more expensive version that has a wood stock and a bunch of cartridge adaptors.
like I said though. I want it to be a pump action shotgun. or in the case of the shockwave, a pump action firearm

Cricket .22 would be physically smaller than 10 shot shells and not useless like a sub caliber insert with a barrel shorter then 8"
>>
>>64707816
Shot a live round behind the boresighter. I was going to sight in a dot on a 300bo build after this one and for some reason I already thought I had switched guns so mentally I was expecting to see a dot and didn't think much of it.

I have this weird feeling that one day when I'm at the range I'm gonna come across my boresighter sticking out of a tree or something.

They work good; all except the .22lr. The center to rimfire doesn't work well. If you had a red dot on the shotgun you could likely get it dialed in pretty good. The short ones don't get the bullet up to full ass but still accurate up to about 100yards or so.

They cost like $30 on ebay.
