Huh. Cuba has MiG-29's.
>>
>>64711653
What little air force they have is made up of entirely by soviet hand me downs.
>>
>>64711653
They were slated to have the largest Mig fleet this side of the Atlantic but the deal fell through with the soviet collapse. AFAIK none of them are operational
>>
>>64711789
How'd that come about under Gorbachev?
>>
>>64711653
i don't think they fly much.
>>
>>64711653
Cuba's military is even worse than Venezuela's as unbelievable as that is.

They've been siding with brownoids and niggers for a while now to epicly btfo AmeriKKKa and the west(And you are lynching Negroes whataboutism propaganda from the 1930s).
>>
>>64713792
Brother peoples.
>>
Think their most noticeable accomplishment of late was shooting down a leaflet dropping light aircraft.
>>
>>64711653
Their Air Force has a cool fin flash. But reading about their inventory, I think they have like single digit operational jets. And those are old MiG 21 and 23s.

>>64713800
Other than a few parades and whatnot, no branch of their military does anything.
They have 1,000+ tanks (numbers comprised heavily of T-55) on paper but who knows what their readiness is.
Cuba's one of those countries I never think much about, suppose it would be interesting to visit someday. When there was a diplomatic opening in the past, cameras showed a lot of old American cars.
>>
Do they have the kerosene to fly them?
>>
>>64716510
I was gonna say Cuba's domestic airline still allows smoking but I was wrong, they banned it back in 2014
>>
>>64716510
The 23's are out of service, they're a maintenance nightmare compared to the 29 or the 21.
The only thing flying are a pair of L-39's, a handful of MiG-21's and helicopters, and some dilapidated cargo aircraft with no real drone threat - and the Chinese aren't interested as Cuba doesn't have shit worth exploiting and they aren't interested with international communism

We should just end this commie farce in Cuba once and for all
>>
>>64716529
Bay of Pigs 2 : Electric Boogaloo would be an easy enough prospect. Perhaps in 2029?
>>
>>64711653
The Cuban air force gives Tom Cooper something to masturbate over.

I didn't think the 23s were still up. Not many parts of the world still use them, the largest user was Syria and even those were seen less and less. North Korea has barely shown theirs either. Not great planes, but I think they're neat.
>>
>>64716529

At this point the Cuban govt. is so weak that the embargo could be lifted and everyone would be pretty happy. Just do some diplomatic missions to smooth out past grievances, accept both sides were wrong at points, and shake hands for a better future. Cubans get to have an actual economy, and visitors get somewhere new to invest in. Also keeps China from trying to do what the USSR did.
>>
>>64716529
Cubans need to be the ones doing that without us or the CIA, otherwise you get the exact situation in Afghanistan where the commies and Islamists are the patriots fighting off a foreign power
>>

>960 T-55A
>140 T-55M/AM

>400 T-62M

A lot of those T-55A have probably either rusted or been sold or parted out.
The funds dried up after the big bad soviet uncle died, they've been barely scraping along on cigars and tourism since and you just KNOW they didnt have the money for upgrade programs.

>250 2P26 "Swatter" and 2P27 "Fleyta" ATGMV Vehicles - less than fucking worthless esp. if they haven't been modified to use modern Sagger's from China (later HJ-73) or Serbia.
Best case is a 70's era SACLOS AT-3C
Russia's last Sagger variant was post soviet, SACLOS, tandem or thermobaric

>40 9P133
Again see above, AT-3C at best

RPG-29 is the biggest AT threat they have

>200 BMP-1
lol.
Considering they rarely used these in the limited combat they had in Angola there's no way they did anything smart with them like mount extra armor, fill the door tanks with sand, and rip out the autoloader

>150 BTR-152
>200 BTR-50
>400 BTR-60
No autocannons

The only thing they have going is a large amount of towed artillery, self propelled they have 20 2S1 and 40 2S3 and a slew of improv vehicles using either T-43, T-55, or other soviet hulls mounting either D-30, M-46, or ww2 trash.
They also have a large amount of BM-21.

Cuba doesn't exactly have operational depth to make long use of it's vast arrayed towed artillery, or esp. to relocate them, so they're going to be one and done targets. The self propelled stuff could at least duck into the woods in theory to avoid a hellfire

>boatloads of ww2 and 50's/60's era Soviet Anti tank guns

These are going to just be used to lob indirect frag at shorter distances than dedicated howitzers (but more than a 120mm mortar), like how Ukraine and Russia are employing their AT guns

If you look at Venezuela's army equipment in comparison, it was much more modern, but in smaller numbers, relied heavier on light tanks, Self propelled mortars and SPG's

Not gunna happen, Communism needs to be stopped wherever it is.
Their military is 1960's trash, we can do this and turn them back into a casino tobacco slave island - that somehow has a higher quality of life despite the vast exploitation
>>
>>64716608
Fuck that, lets do another Panama and kill half the island
>>
>>64716621
Communism asserts itself wherever people are poor, if you put Batista back in Castro looks good in comparison. Lift the blockade and everyone would become a christian democrat or a social democrat overnight. Who cares if the party’s name stays the same or they keep the che murals?
>>
>>64716628
I’d rather drink rum on the beach
>>
>>64716596
The Chinese aren't interested in Cuba, they have plenty of fertile soil to grow Tobacco, and there's nothing else of value there. It's too close to the US to not get vaporized if they base there, unlike the 1960, the Cubans don't have money and the Chinks arent exactly fond of conventional Marxist-Leninists nor willing to give them a handout or "build them up"

Venezuela has black gold and 3x the distance to the US, it was much more appropriate to basing PLA and PLAN Naval assets
>>
>>64716634
Nah we need a lightning raid to take out the remaining Castro and his top commanders. Then we can put Bautista, the Actor/Pro wrestler in charge alongside Marco Rubio and turn it back into an American protectorate chock full of Casinos, Rum and Tobacco production, and rife with brown girl sex slavery. No lie the living standards despite this vast exploitation would triple within a year
>>
>>64716640
So would the USMC after a job well done
>>
>>64716549
Why not this year? We already have forces in theater, and it's not like we can't launch the entire Air Force from Florida and vaporize their military
>>
>>64716510
>>64716617
So when are we going to see Cuban tanks and artillery in Ukraine
>>
>>64716685
Marco Rubio overthrowing the Cuban regime would make a nice historical footnote.

Much like Venezuela, Cuba has very valuable resources.

>>
>>64711789
Given that there’s literally only two air forces on your side of the pond with MiG-29s, that’s not a flex. That’s just the Cubans admitting they have fewer MiGs than Peru
>>
can we just normalise relations with cuba already, what's the point of antagonising them
they can be a little western commie nation, it would be fun
>>
>>64716608
Except everyone living there can see just how fucking badly communism has made their lives and is fighting soley to stay in power and extract tourist dollars for their own enrichment. It's nothing like Afghanistan. Cuba isn't a a rough conglomeration of disparte tribes and ethnicities separated not just by ancient territories and geography, but language, culture, religious tension, and competing interests. It's a homogenous society with a solid national identity. It's not like it was back in the 60s when people were excited about communism and believed it would improve their lot. It's not even like it was 25 years ago, when european tourism was still supporting something of a functioning economy for a decent number of people. They're facing rolling blackouts regularly, food insecurity, a break down of basic waste treatment systems, and all the money that was supposed to be improving the common Cuban's lot is going right back into the big hotels and their party boss's pockets. The average Cuban isn't going to help the remnants of a Castro government fight a guerilla war, they're going to be forming lynch mobs and hunting them down.

Eh, it's perfectly believable. Venezuela used to be on decent terms with the US, which is why they have F-16s and shit. All Cuba had was the rotting husk of the Soviet Union.
>>
>>64720090
Especially when you realize they've never kicked us out of Guantanamo Bay despite it being pretty useful for the Cuban economy. Even with the big bad USSR at their back they couldn't fully remove us from their country
>>
>>64713800
Has a lot more combat experience. Over 150,000 cubans fought in decolonisation wars in Africa. Of course the most recent experience is the 80s. But still better than Venezuela.

Castro hasn’t been in charge for a long time now.

Russians supposedly were second only to Americans in combat experience thanks to Chechnya, Georgia and Syria. Look at how much good it did to them in 2022.

To be honest Guantanamo is pretty fucked up even without the torture camp thing. America came along, beat them up, forced a 'lease' on them in 1903 for a piddling amount ($96,000 a year, which is fuck all even adjusted for inflation) and extended that 'lease' in perpetuity in the 1930s, naturally with thinly-veiled implications of what would happen if they told them to fuck off.
Cuba is not able to kick the yanks out because the contract stipulates that any annulment has to be a mutual thing, and obviously America's position is "Fuck you gonna do about it?"
They still deliver the lease payment every year, adjusted for inflation, but Cuba has a standing policy of refusing to take it, as they believe that it would legitimise the claim.
I don't sympathise with Cuba for most things, being commie dumbasses and all, but this just ain't okay.

>>
indians should be banned from the internet for spewing stupidity
>>
>>
>>64720472
Wait no I just checked, the original 1903 lease was for the grand price of $4,000 a year. $96,000 is the current-ish price. Shit wouldn't even buy a house these days, let alone a whole chunk of a country.

Incorrect their SF and med units have been and continue to deploy all over the world. I. Fact the main reason to this day Cuba is so influential in LatAm is that Fidel created a massive doctor training program to multiply their med staff. They've used their training and med teams all over the world and it gives them a ton of good will. Their SF units can be found training guerillas all over the planet and on loan to various allies in need of a loyal guard (see Noriega, Maduro, Chavez)
