>>64716528>expecting turdie dictatorships to actually train people to be competent enough to not instantly fold when an actual military shows up
>>64716528As dope as it would have been to see f35s and f22s finally get their first air to air kills blowing flankers out of the sky, its really not all that surprising that they never came out to play. Those flankers are 20 years old and the insane state of poverty in Venezuela for most of that time meant their air force had very little money to keep them maintained and (more importantly) keep their pilots trained. Their best missiles are older R77s and they have to rely on ground control radars to give them a picture of the air because they don't have AWACS. Now imagine you're one of those pilots and you're told you have to go up against 150 of the most advanced 4th/5th gen aircraft in the world flown by the best trained pilots in the world who, by the way, have experience fighting flankers in international exercises. They're shooting aim120D3s which vastly outperform your missiles, you're flying blind because your ground radars have just been wiped out by ECM and SEAD and you have less than a dozen of your buddies to back you up. You can't blame them for refusing to commit suicide on behalf of the unpopular bus driver in chief.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0AvoM8XeMM&t=2495s
>>64717163>You now understand why the Iraqi air force booked it to Iran in '91.
>>64716528If they could have gotten a couple of these up they could have taken out the Fucking attack helicopters!
>>64717295Actually they would have been jammed by the Fucking Growlers and shot down by the Fucking F-22s
>>64717163>unpopular bus driver in chiefThis is the crux of it, Serbian MiGs sortied against the NATO intervention despite an equally hopeless situation. And devoted officers willing to sacrifice their commands have prevented coups de main before, like King Haakon VII's escape from the Nazis thanks to a colonel 6 months from retirement in charge of a 40 year old torpedo battery.
>>64717410>be on newest German heavy cruiser>get raped by roastie-age torps and equal vintage coastal batteries
>>64717329The second they saw engines spooling or hangar doors opening on thermals they would have had a JDAM on the way.Or more likely they probably told the pilots they're cool guys, don't come to work today.
>>64717329My experience from flight sims strongly suggests that professional, suicidally brave pilots operating from dispersed sites and flying "blind" low over familiar territory could've done as anon suggests prior to the F-22s deleting them. EWAR and IRCM cannot save a helicopter from determined attack, and at least two posthumous Heroes of Ukraine gained their award while attempting to thwart this type of heliborne decapitation strike, trading their plane for a single-digit number of helicopters. Not the wise, favorable exchange that will ever win a war of resistance, but such sacrifices are necessary to have a hope of inspiring one. That no Venezuelan pilot akin to Yakovych or Vasilyevich were able or willing to do so for Maduro speaks volumes about his fall from power.
>>64716528>>64717602https://youtube.com/watch?v=ccz0EXDYg9EMost of Col. Eriksen's lines in this scene are direct quotations, unembellished. The hardware in OP does nothing as their way of life does not forge operators such as he, nor do they intentionally elevate to positions of influence those which fate or Providence grant them.
>>64717602Not to mention they were crewed by practically untrained troops
>>64717906The power of an educated, high trust society. Another one of Norway's great heroes from that time, Gunnar Sønsteby, was a meek-mannered accountant whose chief concern about joining the resistance forces was how to ask his office manager, one Mr. Thinn, for so much extra time off!
>>64717657Life isn't a videogame. Do you think if your fat ass sitting at homes recognizes the threat posed by fighter aircraft the U.S. military and CIA didn't have a plan in place to neutralize those aircraft.
>>64717329One of best contributions of Malaysia's military efforts is to combine the best of the Soviets and the West. Malaysian equipment are well-known to be extensively upgraded with Western technology beyond the capabilities of simple 'Slavshit'. The biggest challenge is the difference in operational philosophy between Malaysia and Soviet Union. Malaysia tried to address these shortcoming with SU-30MKM which uses Soviet airframe & Western avionics. The flankers are better built, have extensive air to ground as well as air to air capability and compatible with RMAF's mostly-western equipments. Malaysian SU-30MKM are the only Sukhoi SU-30 series that capable of using Sidewinder, Paveway and JDAM. Currently RMAF is able do do SEAD with Su-30MKM + Kh-31P. SU-30MKM "Growlerski" is also the first ECM/EW Sukhoi platform designed and build outside Russia.A multi-role platform with SAP-518 ECM pod and mix of SAP-14 jamming pod is considered similar to the United States ALQ-99 jamming system installed on the EA-6B Prowler and EA-18G Growler. Funny thing is the Russian are following Malaysian example that successfully integrated Russian-Western technology into their SU-30MKM.
>>64717657I also have experience in sims only, but over christmas a few years ago I got my uncle who flew f14s in the navy to play dcs for a few good days with me. He mentioned that his favorite part was being able to fly like a suicidal maniac. When you are actually strapped into that machine you need to have one hell of a motivator to fly like that, nothing short of regiligious fanaticism or something. Also imagine trying to take off in your flanker with that much ew and also dozens of other things above you itching to shoot their Hellfires or whatever else as you start, taxi, take off and start actually looking for a target. In a game it would be fun, in real life it would take quite a lot of back to back miracles to pull off even 1 kill. Then your family gets taken out and shot because it was the 1 helo with madero in it
>>64719879Not living in Russia or even just saying fuck you to Russia can be a motivator. Some poor brown country dictator is not a motivator.
>>64717163I think it's more like the situation you saw with Armenia where these jets are too expensive to risk. No point in throwing away your best aircraft and pilots on suicide missions.
>>64717657Sure, they could have gone out flying "blind and low", but that only works when they magically know where the enemy is.
>>64717410From what I remember those fulcrums were in really bad shape; their RWRs weren't working and some didn't even have working radars. At the risk of giving Serbs credit for anything, those pilots were very brave.
>>64719926Yeah but it kind of defeats the purpose of spending the money on those expensive jets if you're not even gonna use them when you end up in the exact situation you bought them for. If you were Maduro and you knew the Americans were coming for you wouldn't you order those jets to get airborne just to throw everything at the wall? I mean if the alternative is death or federal prison I wouldn't be super worried about how much money was at stake.
>>64721229sending your soldiers to what they are aware is certain death is generally not a popular decision
>>64721277Imagine the morale boost though if they managed to takeout an F-22 or F-35!

>>64716528>costsThirdie financial pro tip. Things only "cost" you, if you pay, which odds are, Venezuela didn't. (And Russia just waived debts a few years later)
>>64716544The Venezuelan military opsec is probably in utter shambles.I assume the CIA has completely infiltrated their entire command structure.
Well, actually, I personally believe that it was an act of MERCY by the brave Venezuelan warriors to not deploy their fighters, as frankly, any military analyst will tell you, they are vastly superior to American junk, and would easily crush any and all air attacks by the Americans. In fact, dare I say, a single SU-27 could dogfight against an entire air squadron's worth of F-22 and would still come out victorious. The American DEI hire chair force does not stand a chance against true Russian avionics.Next time, I highly suggest any and all operators of SU-27 aircraft or any other russian aircraft for that matter, to immediately deploy any fighters they have available if the evil imperialist white supremacist forces of AmeriKKKA try and violate their airspace.t. >>64716528These Cold War relics are bad even by South American airforce standards. They'd get raped by F-35 or F-22 backed by AWACS, US satellite intel and screaming growlers.

>>64716528The majority of thirdoids only keep these things to deter other thirdoids and these days their troops' loyalty is questionable even for that. It's unfortunate because it means US forces will never be involved in any A2A kino again in the foreseeable future.
>>64719887This. The Ukrainians were fighting an existential threat that would've oppressed everyone they loved for generations, deleted their culture and language, and likely executed them anyway.Venezuela is facing... >>64725057I really like the comparison by country and by missile range, but don’t overlook the importance of identifying your target effective enough to make use of that range. Does any SA country have AWACS to vector in attacks? US pilots are playing a completely different game when they have dedicated AWACS, F-35’s which apparently can play AWACS themselves, and a bunch of EW Growers turbofucking ground based radars. Not to mention any and all of those assets can share targeting info, I would believe a microwave on the Gerald R Ford can provide datalinked heating for a frozen corn dog on the USS Shiloh at this point
