yeah so? She was a rookie pilot at the time mistakes happen. And by your own logic men probably shouldnt be flying either because more of them died due to the same engine failures at high AoA then women. The only reason you and everyone else even care about this incident is because the pilot was a women when the real problem was the F14 was a death trap until it got its engine upgrade.

A rookie pilot who was allowed to fly Tomcats for political reasons. Really it's equally the command's fault (or whoever wanted to push the agenda) slightly more so than her own. She was responsible for the accident but the blame ultimately lies with whoever allowed her to fly Tomcats.

The reality is both she probably shouldn't have been flying the Tomcat and a lot of pilots who should've been would've also made the wrong decision in that moment too. The guidance from the carrier also kinda sucked, at the critical moment she had a guy in her ear shouting 'THROTTLE UP' which just made the asymmetry worse.
Even if they still passed her on fast jets they should've put her in a Hornet or something else with more forgiving flight characteristics. Tomcats in general but especially early Tomcats were notoriously difficult to tame.
