>Australia makes a version of multicam which actually matches the green trees in their own country
>Canada makes CADPAT which actually matches the green trees in Canada
>Estonia matches the green in their country
Meanwhile...
>America makes a OCP pattern which is completely unlike the green trees in the US
>Bongistan makes MTP which is again, completely unlike the green forests of Europe
>USMC makes a "woodland" camo which is majority brown, black, and a dark murky algae green which under sunlight literally looks turquoise
How fucking hard is it to just take a picture of a forest, us the dye dropper tool on paint and then make your camo pattern the same colour as the fucking trees where your soldiers will be training in 100% of the time?

>Countries fighting in a narrow range of biomes can match their camo to it
>Countries fighting expeditionary wars in a vast range of biomes try and match them all somehow and get mediocre to atrocious results
Yeah.
Of course the real question is, why can you not buy a few sets of clothing for each soldier. Back when it actually mattered, the germans had fucking autumn camo, that's how specific it was matched. Modern armies have approximately a hundred times the ressources available, so why not?
(Having a single general service rifle is the same sort of idiocy btw.)

That's because the US goes to other countries to fight, we the fuck would the camo need to match anything in the US?

>conus camo
Unironically Mossy Oak Everything.
>>
>>64727470
The 2000s happened. Camo has been totally shit ever since.
Anyway, not many know that solid colors are harder to see on a running figure than the same running figure wearing camouflage
>>
>>64727510
Make reversible combat smocks great again
>>
How effective would this be?
>>
>>64727533
It'd be a wet dream for me if the US adopted mossy oak or realtree as its standard camo.
>>
>>64727561
Anything that breaks up your pattern. Also, weirdly enough, light colored bellies make animals harder to discern than if it were just one color.
Pic related
>>
>>64727470
The bongs arent fighting in the UK, and posse comitas prevents the army and marines from fighting in the US. You would have to be a complete dumbfuck not to understand that implicitly, yet here you stand presenting it as if that angle had not occurred to you at all.
>>
>>64727568
It's called countershading. Objects (including animals) usually are darker on bottom because of shadows cast by overhead sun. Light coloring of the bottom offsets the natural shadows, so it is harder for predators (including humans) to pick them out from their background. There was a lot of good literature about this effect written during the late interwar period, and many nations adopted or experimented with countershaded color schemes for aircraft and vehicles, and even some static installations like anti air or anti tank batteries.
>>
>>64727592
no, its because its cute

You don't know enough about camo to have an opinion, based on your image.

>posse comitas prevents the army and marines from fighting in the US
ok so mexico can invade the the us army can do absolutely nothing and allow mexican tanks to drive right up to the whitehouse and kill the president right? meanwhile the whole us military just chills in their barracks doing nothing?
>>
Camo doesn't work
>>
>>64727470
>Countries that live in fear of invasion have defensive camo patterns
Yeah
>>
>>64727613
Brown hands for sure lol.

Mexico can't invade because it doesn't have the capability to invade, at all, and anything attempting to get through the bottleneck will be raped by every air asset available in the US, along with whatever psycho desert people who have had fantasies of their militia fighting for the US.
>>
You can track an amerifat from 40 km with a few seismic sensors, using camo is a waste of time.

The funny thing that that's almost literally what happened with the Australian multicam. The boffins were getting ready to start all the testing and iteration and stuff that they did when they designed DPCU, and one of them did an early mockup based on pretty much what you described for a powerpoint presentation, and his dumb fuck showboating uniformed L125 CASG manager "overbriefed" the progress of the project for good boy points on his PAR based on the mockup, got asked for paperwork to advance the project, did it up, it got signed off and went into user testing. The users in question were retarded diggers who just wanted multicam so they could larp as SF, so they all seal clapped being given multicam (and also the new cuts were way better and comfier than old DPCU), and the shit went full steam to IOC. Meanwhile the uber nerds were like "So you mean you really don't give a shit if we do all this testing or not?"

Source, was doing a lot of stuff at CASG at the time.

Marpat cammo was meant to operate in Tropical jungles of the Pacific for inevitable WWIII against China, not in the Temperate weather forests of Europe. It works great for Tropical environments.

Aus multicam (AMCU) is more suited to Australia's north, which is reasonable, but does struggle a little in more arid, dry grass parts of the country. AMCU, as stated, does have more darker green than traditional multicam.

For Conan or any other naked barbarian waving around a sword in a dimly-lit cave/castle/lair with flickering torches.
This would be like Navy "Dazzle" camo.
Yes, you'd see him moving.
Like a disco-dancer with strobe lights.
You'd have no idea what kind of stance or swing he was moving into.
So be would be difficult to parry or counter.

Estonian camo (ESTDCU) sucks compared to the old TTSKO variant. It's only blending when it is bright day (which is rather rare). I have tested multiple camos in that enviorment and the best performers are SLOCAM and multicam tropic.

ESTDCU is also quite visible when the target is moving.

No it's called CADPAT MT. It's just like CADPAT but for predicted loss of greenery in the future.
Also it has little maple leaves on it. No I'm not kidding.
>>
>>64728399
I wasn't meaning to be funny, I think there's actual utility to a lightweight reversible smock you can wear over a t shirt, under armor.
Can totally separate uniforms work, sure, I just believe a smock can do both while still providing concealability and comfort in one item.
I thought it was a good idea then, and I still think it's a good idea

A replica German helmet cover fits an M1 really well and looks cool

US has a lot of different forests
and a lot of areas with no forests
and we do not fight defensive wars on US soil
why should the camo match the one type of forest you are thinking while thinking about the us?

Because if he can't dress up like the real military soldier dudes and also be perfectly camouflaged while he runs around playing Wolverines in his back yard that's like the worst and stupidest and most unfair thing ever.
