>Soldiers and officers familiar with the tank’s operation report that the VT-4 has suffered from frequent malfunctions during both training and operational deployments. These complaints focus on failures observed under sustained use rather than isolated incidents, with crews describing problems that directly affected operational readiness.
Of course, we cannot forget the two tanks that blew up. Not because they shot 200 rounds, it was far less and that number was made up by chinks to try and do damage control.

Any alternative highly credible sources reporting this?

I'm just here to see the recovery and engineering vehicles at work, pretty cool
People have to remember as well, barrel technology is a fairly complicated thing when it comes to durability, weight and accuracy, lot of heat, pressure and stresses go through them so if at any point the alloys aren't up to spec, the forming is done badly and the bore a bit fucky it'll all go to shit in a hurry
>>
>>64727576
200 shot of dart or he?
>>
New vehicles always need stress testing till the kinks work themselves out, iterative improvements and relapses to failure are always part of RND. What matters is the failure rates vs cost vs overall readiness in numbers over % for the group of vehicles.

I don't think you guys understand, the old failure rates of western tanks weren't failures, they were just part of the refinement process of building up to the bleeding edge of an individual countries manufacture process.

Sounds like cope to me. Why are you beta testing on people telling them it's a finished product?

Also given that the Chinese are generally happy to sell underpriced temu shit abroad I don't think reputation with the thai's matters.
I'd test on foreigners first for a huge premium why not. Thai's are pretty desperate at the moment.

tanks break down anon
>>
>>64727597
The Oplot hasn't been seen in this recent conflict at all.
>>
All machines need spares and repairs. Buying for example 30 tanks really means you bought 20 that will stay working until the other ten have no more parts to take from.
That's the cost of not making them yourself.

Next shit thread please.
>>
>>64727688
Pure fucking copium

if you're selling shit to a customer assuring them they can operate so many hours before maintenance or have an estimate service life of X, you have the OBLIGATION to test it in the expected field conditions and making sure it meets those numbers, otherwise it's a scam. You don't get to have the customer do the beta testing for you.

This is why nobody buys chink shit and nobody ever will. America tested it's vehicles themselves in both peace time exercises and actual war. If China "tested" them and they still shit themselves like this it says one of two things. 1) China's testing conditions are woefully inadequate and their expectations of war are so delusional they will get absolutely steamrolled by any enemy they face, or 2) they can't build anything worth shit, and they don't care that the whole world will find out so long as they get the money upfront because they don't understand what consumer trust is.
>>
>>64727752
Wow you're retarded. There's videos everywhere.

Then why didn't the Oplots and M60A3s that Thailand extensively used in this conflict suffer from the same maintenance issues?

Thai here. Only one VT-4 suffered a failure after extended firing, Defence Blog isn't even citing its sources for "crew complaints" and no briefings from our media have said anything to that effect so it looks like "Dylan Malyasov" is pulling shit out of his ass. The VT-4 has been our most extensively used MBT during the conflict, the Oplot was mostly backline support. Most Thais were skeptical of using a Chinese tank early on but soldiers I've talked to say it's performed pretty stellar especially for what's basically the first batch of its type and taken out several Cambodian Soviet shitboxes.

Tanks do indeed break down, but this is more about main gun failures which the VT-4 seems to have a fairly well documented record of them doing
Not quite the same thing as bearings, pumps and tired engine parts wearing out after 40-50 years. These are brand new, export tanks that shit the bed on their main gun

>Birthplace: Arequipa, Peru.

>Education: He was educated in Kyiv, Ukraine, where he earned a degree in business management before working in defence journalism and consultancy.
Defence Blog – Military and Defense News

>Ethnic/Family Roots: According to a piece he wrote about his own life story, his mother is Polish and his father is of Mordvin heritage (an ethnic group from Russia), though he identifies much of his personal and professional life with Ukraine.

>He’s also been active as a volunteer supporter of Ukraine’s defence efforts during the Ukraine–Russia war, and has been recognized with Ukrainian defence awards.

So basically a nafo shill who probably thought he could get away with writing a hitpiece like this without anyone looking too deeply into it. Which is ironic because Thailand is literally using chink tanks to blow up vatnik hardware.

They've definitely come a long way, there was a time when Thais wouldn't by any chink hardware because it was objectively trash with every procurement but I really don't get people who thought it would stay that way, like they would just never improve or learn from past failures.

The Thais thought the T84 was great. The main problem with the VT4 is it's powertrain which is a cloned CV12 meant to make 1200hp but overstressed to up to 1500hp so jt can be marketed as competitive with MTU 1500 engines.

The reason Thailand didn't get more Oplots is that the 2014 Russian invasion destroyed a lot of the supply chain for it's production, leading to substandard models late in production. KMDB managed to start new supply chains to fix this, then the current war started and killed that. The Chinese actually have produced a tank that is very similar to the VT4 but with the 6TD engine and advanced transmission from the T84 for Pakistan called the Al-Khalid.

I don't think the Chinese just imported the engine for it's production instead of cloning it.
I think Turkey and Pakistan build the 6TD drivetrain under lisence so it's possible that we could get some T84-VT4 mashup to solve the problem but at that point it makes more sense to just design a new vehicle. Porkistan now has something called the Haider which is basically thr Al Khalid but with the bad CV12 clone and more composite armor. Peru was offered a what was basically the Haider but with the 1400hp 6TD engine and a VT4 turret due to projected high altitude combat. That seems like it means that a 6TD powered VT4 can be produced.
>>
>>64733125
The CV12 is fine. What isn't fine is NORINCO's cloning of it. Also, might wanna tell the USAF this because they use Rolls-Royce engines.

>>
>>64733257
The legacy CV12 is fine at generating smooth low end torque that builds up high RPM speed. It was designed for European plains combat. It is however, not great at dealing with heat at all nor steep inclines requiring rapid torque. There's a reason Rolls Royce engines were often swapped out for Continental AVDS engines or MTU MB series. The new version for the Challenger 3 seems pretty fucking great though. 1500hp off the bat for standardization with German mills but likely makes even more power. Old Rolls Royce terrestrial piston engines have nothing to do with modern Rolls Royce jet engines. The British are better than pretty much top of that indusry. I think aircraft engines alone still are a full 5% of the entire British economy.

>All machines need spares and repairs. Buying for example 30 tanks really means you bought 20 that will stay working until the other ten have no more parts to take from.
>That's the cost of not making them yourself.
That's not how supply chains work or how readiness works.
You keep spares of maintenance items, and you rotate vehicles out for maintenance as those items need replacement. Those vehicles go back into service and now a new round of vehicles need a round in the garage. Realistically speaking you're looking at roughly ~66% readiness for most vehicles at best.
>>
>>64727576
The M60 got more kills than either. Further proving it's worth. Turks own the rights to cast new hulls and the AVDS 1500 via Renk along with their new semi unmanned turret.
