Realistically how would you counter it?

I don't even know what "it" is
>>
>>64728235
Same way ISAF did, a low approach by a small strike force with anti-armor weaponry.
>>
>>64728235
By not letting your enemy have plot or armor, or just send overwhelming waves of bombers.
>>
>>64728259
it was targeting things literally on the other side of the continent every 30 seconds, it would shoot down the wave of bombers before it got within 1000km
>>
>>64728255
It's a railgun from a videogame.
>>
>>64728235
Is AC7 any good? AC just doesnt hit the same after playing Project Wingman

Bombers weren't really an option considering the location. It covers most of the continent.
>>

Yeah, it's good. Story is a bit more coherent than PW but i do wish i could get the same maneuverability to make funny retarded flips.

If it's fully operational and in the middle of a well defended continent it'd be a total bitch. Fortunately since it's far away from anything unironically: nukes, and a lot of them, preferably with a ton of decoys as well. Since it was made to shoot down meteors it's tailor made to take out high speed nuke delivery capsules too but enough volume of spam and decoys would still overwhelm it. Since it's nothing but desert for ages around shouldn't be too much of an issue to nuke the area, and it counts as a strategic weapon already anyway.

Second better choice would be if you can have spooky guys sabotage it, ideally you'll have detected the construction way ahead of time via satellite and worked to get moles in place all along.

Mass aerial attack with both manned and cruise missiles might work but even for the USA it'd be an absolute fucking bitch and expect very high losses. The AD network and distance to travel is real bad. A ground campaign to get close would be grinding, no quick answers there either. Like, imagine if the US had this in the middle of Nebraska or something, what would anyone else in the world do about it?
>>
>>64728318
Well yes but it comes after they had their mute super pilot massacre half the enemy air force and air defense already
>>
>>64728235
crush it with a dwarf
>>
>>64728235
Approach low and fast. Stonehenge had difficulty hitting targets under 2000 feet and didn't turn all that quickly. Ground attack might also work but you'd need a ground route.

What do you mean charge again? The thing has 8 guns constantly swapping targets with the help of a supercomputer that can target fucking asteroid debris falling through orbit. An installation that large probably has its own nuclear reactor too so it can run everything.
I also feel like threads about it completely forget that Erusea was guarding the thing with their own planes and air defense, it's not like it's sitting there alone.

The plot should've been about Spare squadron defecting and joining up with Princess Rosa Cossette D'Elise to dunk on the (((Osean))) globohomo cabal. Also get rid of Nickelback and have the brown tomboy as wingman.

>I also feel like threads about it completely forget that Erusea was guarding the thing with their own planes and air defense, it's not like it's sitting there alone.
I didn't forget but yeah it's weird how many people are acting like the thing is just sitting on the coast or something with absolutely nothing around it. It's in the middle of the continent with defense installations all around it. ANYTHING is easy if it's just all by itself but nobody actually does that, not even in video games, there's always layered defenses. Obviously the AC games are designed to (extremely competently and pleasurably) suck your virtual dick so you're supposed to be able to win and do quite a lot solo as well given you're supposed to be really fucking good, but even in the games taking down things like this is part of a massive multi-stage campaign and you've got a lot of others flying alongside you dealing with at least some of the spam shit so you're able to focus more on the important (cooler) stuff.

>>64733677

Fart artillery
>>
>>64733629
Well yeah but dealing with all that would be a year long campaign with suppressed air power. That's not something you can plan for without detailed reports on enemy numbers and locations.
>>
>>64733753
nta, but in game I think one thing which made taking down Stonehenge (originally the Spaceguard Turret Network) more realistic was that it was originally genuinely not a military installation at all, it was one of the efforts to deal with the incoming asteroid and created in a real fucking hurry. Then it got captured and repurposed years later after it had already done its job (and gotten damaged, losing a turret in the process to a missed fragment). So there was nothing secret about it, it was widely advertised, everyone also got to see it in action, the people using it weren't even the makers so complete plans were available, and defenses vs air/ground attack were all after the fact not part of the original design considerations. Things being more haphazard made sense in-universe.
>>
>>64733788
also eruseans were big fags and had tons of infighting between airforce and missile dudes. explicit plot point that they weakened their defenses after stonehenge shot down one of their own planes by reducing AF to just a yellow squad and a few misc
>>
>>64733811
well they did fly flankers
>>
>>64733820
cuz they were gonna replace them all with wyverns then erusean politicans were all noooo muh monies so they canceled that and then lost

>>64728235
I mean the original game they came from (Ace Combat 4) portrays how they got defeated quite logically and somewhat realistically.
>the anti-asteroid railgun has a useful EMP effect that shakes and crashes planes from the other side of an entire continent
>it's one weakness is it doesn't do much to planes flying at near sea-level
>trying this is a problem because these same people have a massive navy and a giant jungle-mountain with SAMs behind literally every crevice
>so bomb all their oil depots in the middle of the night
>then do a definitely-not-a-pearl-harbor-reference on the stranded fleet in the naval city and just cluster bomb the living fuck out of every carrier and submarine stranded there with no way out
>finally destroy their impenetrable wall of SAMs and advanced ground-based early warning defense systems
>ambush Stonehenge in the desert (storm) as it is relocating and mow down all the cannons while flying at ground level at point-blank range while your undefeated ace pilot Mobius One keeps damaged Su-37 pilot Yellow 4 off your ass long enough to complete the mission and give her wing mate a mental breakdown so he finally fucks off to go cry alongside an orphaned child or something

Markov...

>>64728277
Mostly yes. The biggest issue is that since the game went through developmental HELL all the cutscenes and missions are basically telling two separate stories. The DLC missions don't have this problem and also have one of the most entertaining antagonists you'll ever have the privilege of blowing up.
