>Do you go to Airborne before RASP with an option 40 contract?
No, stop asking.
>>
is 30 too old to join and shoot for some sort of special operations job, like swcc or army rangers?
>>
>>64729665
No, a decent amount of 18x contracts go to older guys. You just need to be fit enough to hack it. Rangers are more of a young man's game but a couple older guys have done it.
There's a SFAS fitness guide in the OP that USAJFKSWCS just dropped last year which you might find helpful. Pic related is from 2023 and covers fitness average scores for Rangers, as well.

Actually looks like that link got fucked up, gimme a minute.
>>
>>64729686
Its been a minute. What link again?
>>

>>64729988
Yes, 79, in fact.

I fell asleep
thought this link was broken:
https://www.goarmysof.army.mil/Portals/100/Documents/USAJFKSWCS SF Prep Manual.pdf?ver=b5Y4cCheXzm4z44sO0JVtg==
but it's not you just have to copy paste it with the spaces
>>
>>64730178
Oh so THATS how you use that link, always wondered that. Guess I'm retarded because I lurked here for a year before learning that.
>>
Probably a retarded question, but do you think there will come a time where celiac disease havers can join? Obviously we need special food, maybe we could all just be POG "stomach battalions" or something
>>
>>64730681
next world war
>>
i mean this with the best of intentions but
is it okay to join even if you dislike the guy in the white house?
not some weirdo leftist or whatever
>>
>>64730912
Some of the senor guys in right now have served under Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, and Trump again so really it's not your problem unless you're Sergeant Major of the Army. It's also only a matter of 2 years before there is a new one again.
>>
>>64730912
I didn't vote for Trump yet I still joined the service. Just don't drink the political derangement Kool-Aid and you'll see your general happiness go up two-fold.
>>
>>64730912
Presidents come and go. And really, you've only got about a year before he's a lame duck. A couple months in DEP, couple months in BCT/BMT/etc and then anywhere from 1-6-12ish months in AIT.

It will only become a problem if he actually gives unlawful orders.
>>
Is recruiting truly booming now? I'm concerned I won't get a good job due to demand.
>>
>>64730912
If you make a career out of it, eventually at some point there will be a guy in the white house you don't like.
>>
>>64729585
Okay no bullshit, I lost my Drill schedule and i just checked in. Will i get another copy when i get to AIT or should i call them before i shop
>>
>>64732027
don't you have someone at your unit you can call/text? your AIT will have nothing to do with your unit's drill schedule whatsoever and won't be able to provide that info
>>
>>64732045
I mean its 9 pm. I'll call tomorrow morning.
The NCO was incredibly pissy, so hopefully he doesn't answer
>>
>2 yr 11mo USMC POG NCO

>work shitty manufacturing jobs, snap and quit each time
>another 5150, regain gun rights 5 yrs later
>two nonviolent misdemeanors involving alcohol, spotless record otherwise
>no jail time, owe some criminal restitution
>failing out of engineering program
I'm 35 and severely regret not serving as combat arms because of that fucking combat engineer open contract. Would ANYONE take me at this point?
>>
>>64731592
Not really
2020-2024 was very bad so even a small jump is noteworthy
Now the economy is setting in and people can't find jobs so yeah a few more people joined, but still not a ton.
And since jobs are hard to find this makes retention numbers equally good because who's gonna get out when things are uncertain

If you wanna join it's basically the same as any other time. Wait for the job you want but you may not get it if you can't wait. There are still a lot of incentives they can give especially for army, like guaranteed duty station and/or airborne.
>>64730912
Normal question, yes. You have UCMJ if shit really gets out of hand
>>
>>64730686
Why not now?
>>
>>64732190
>honorable discharge after suicidal crashout
You shouldn't have done that in-service.
>>

I have work in the day and I'm gonna have to drive all the way out there minimum two more times and it will become an all-day affair running errands for my enlistment. A new recruiting station (no joke) a short walk from my house is now in operation since November.
Do I dump my recruiter and go to the closer one tomorrow?
>>

>trying to talk me out of it daily

what do, i don't wanna hurt them but i actually kinda want this. maybe this is autistic to worry about what your parents want. i'm 27 and feel like it's now or never. never really grew up after high school
>>
>>64735353
Well I think I will because where I have to run my waiver errands is next to the new station anyway.
Makes no sense to waste a quarter tank of gas every time when I can just walk down the street.
My recruiter is kind of ADHD, taking forever to respond and wrote wrong info down before I went to MEPS anyway. Not really trusting this guy.
>>
>>64735406
If real
Go to the recruiter
If fake
please come up with a better larp

Anyone here join in their 30s?
>>
>>64735937
>>64735406
There is no reason why your parents would be talking you out of it unless they are afraid of you growing up.
Either way, you will leave the nest eventually and its not their business to tell you otherwise.
Think for yourself, you are 27.
>>
>>64735854
Yes, I would advise getting another recruiter.
>>
>>64735406
It doesn't matter how much they hurt, because when they eventually see you've come back and survived, that's all that'll matter to them.
>>
>>64735879
You can apparently put anything except "atheist", because reportedly they don't like that.
>>
>>64736004
His parents sound too narrow-minded for his own good, and there's no reason to keep listening to them if it's continuing to make his life worse.

This isn't unheard of, and it isn't even that implausible.

I didn't really think so anyway...

What about TV (or a theater), gyms, libraries, or board games? I mean, they *should* have these things, and if they didn't it would sound really absurd.
>>
>>64735968
I have the same question. I posted in the last thread about trying to break into IT with A+/Net+/Sec+(I take my Sec+ Test tomorrow, wish me luck) but the Military is on my mind.

I am 29. Thinking of enlisting at 30.
Honestly, I feel like I've read every post, watched every video.
Basically:
>Go in with a goal
>keep your mouth shut & do what your told
>Basic will suck ass regardless
>embrace the suck

Some have a great time, some kill themselves over this but I think it's just a coinflip of trajectory.

The more I think about it. The more in my gut, I feel I am going to do it.

>Also a bit worried about the new BMT 2.0 which from my knowledge makes it a lot harder, not to mention them raising the other standards; So it's more competitive again to get in.
>>
>>64736353

>board games
I feel like someone's gonna say some stupid shit about this, so I mean stuff like Chess or Checkers. They obviously aren't giving them Monopoly.
>>
>>64735968
Not 30s but close. 28 as a scout. Physically I could keep up and I was never super athletic so you can be a smart soldier instead of a strong soldier. Mix of both works well. Being older the kids will look up to you and in basic it got kinda funny because we had the old man council of the 25+ dudes having our own corner and the high school kids coming to us for advise in relationships and finance. Don't be that retarded fuckhead that's 30 and acts like he's 14

>National Guard gets Apples to Apples
>the NCO-specific game is Monopoly since its based around fucking your friends over not getting rich
>Warrant Officer specific game is Scrabble because you'll never find the word like you'll never find a WO
>The Officer-specific game is Stratego
>The Reserves game is Uno
>The super secret game you only get after 20 years retirement is Solitaire
