No, stop asking.

is 30 too old to join and shoot for some sort of special operations job, like swcc or army rangers?
>>
>>64729665
No, a decent amount of 18x contracts go to older guys. You just need to be fit enough to hack it. Rangers are more of a young man's game but a couple older guys have done it.
There's a SFAS fitness guide in the OP that USAJFKSWCS just dropped last year which you might find helpful. Pic related is from 2023 and covers fitness average scores for Rangers, as well.

>>
>>64730912
Some of the senor guys in right now have served under Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden, and Trump again so really it's not your problem unless you're Sergeant Major of the Army. It's also only a matter of 2 years before there is a new one again.
>>
>>64730912
I didn't vote for Trump yet I still joined the service. Just don't drink the political derangement Kool-Aid and you'll see your general happiness go up two-fold.

>>64730912
Presidents come and go. And really, you've only got about a year before he's a lame duck. A couple months in DEP, couple months in BCT/BMT/etc and then anywhere from 1-6-12ish months in AIT.

It will only become a problem if he actually gives unlawful orders.
>>
Is recruiting truly booming now? I'm concerned I won't get a good job due to demand.

>>
>>64731592
Not really
2020-2024 was very bad so even a small jump is noteworthy
Now the economy is setting in and people can't find jobs so yeah a few more people joined, but still not a ton.
And since jobs are hard to find this makes retention numbers equally good because who's gonna get out when things are uncertain

If you wanna join it's basically the same as any other time. Wait for the job you want but you may not get it if you can't wait. There are still a lot of incentives they can give especially for army, like guaranteed duty station and/or airborne.
>>64730912

>>
>>64735968
I have the same question. I posted in the last thread about trying to break into IT with A+/Net+/Sec+(I take my Sec+ Test tomorrow, wish me luck) but the Military is on my mind.

I am 29. Thinking of enlisting at 30.
Honestly, I feel like I've read every post, watched every video.
Basically:
>Go in with a goal
>keep your mouth shut & do what your told
>Basic will suck ass regardless
>embrace the suck

Some have a great time, some kill themselves over this but I think it's just a coinflip of trajectory.

The more I think about it. The more in my gut, I feel I am going to do it.

>Also a bit worried about the new BMT 2.0 which from my knowledge makes it a lot harder, not to mention them raising the other standards; So it's more competitive again to get in.

>>
>>64735968
Not 30s but close. 28 as a scout. Physically I could keep up and I was never super athletic so you can be a smart soldier instead of a strong soldier. Mix of both works well. Being older the kids will look up to you and in basic it got kinda funny because we had the old man council of the 25+ dudes having our own corner and the high school kids coming to us for advise in relationships and finance. Don't be that retarded fuckhead that's 30 and acts like he's 14

What branch should I join at 31-32, for best civ prospects
>>
>>64736792
Really hard to say since each branch has so many different jobs to choose from. You could do SecFo in the Air Force, be miserable for 3 years, and end up qualified to be a security guard at a weed dispensary, or you could do cyber in the Navy and have a decent chance at landing a high paying contracting gig post service. I think you're over the Marines cutoff age but the Navy and Army will probably take you. Dunno about Air Force.
What are you interested in? Do you have a degree? Any criminal background, medical issues, foreign contacts or assets, massive debt, or other significant issues?

11B -> 35N here. Your retention NCO/career counselor should be the one to go to, not your 1SG (unless you're guard/reserve, idk what they do).
35P (if high demand language w/language pay) > 35N > 35S (INSCOM) > 35S (WHCOM), 35G, 35F (INSCOM), 35P (not language coded/low demand language) > 35L, 35T > 35F (WHCOM)
