can iranian forces win? while they have the numbers they seem outgunned by irgc/basij so far. ive seen shotguns,pistols.. any automatic weapons are rare and the enemy has tanks and artillery they have not yet deployed.

i think if they just take over key cities, roads and choke the enemy of supplies they have a shot

This story is extremely important and not widely reported because it is boring and unsexy

There's a real argument to be made about the fragile rigidity of authoritarianism, that well apart from any moral or philosophical argument, the "strongman" CAN'T get shit done due to human fallibility and corruption; the best thing you can actually have is peaceful political rivals because then at least occasionally good ideas are squeezed out by darwinism

I'd note that China benefited tremendously from Deng, not being some idealist or democrat like Westerners might hope, but perhaps just because he was a foe of Mao and recognized the ways that Mao was a fucking retard. Jiang and Hu largely carried Deng's concepts of a a more flexible dictatorship forward; Xi has largely discarded them because he apparently thinks himself immortal and infallible.

Remember that Chinese dictators used to actually retire, and what a rare and wonderful idea it is of a "retired dictator" - Deng had actually solved the ancient dictator's paradox of "Riding the Tiger," if you were Boss Chinaman you really got to leave office at age 70 and just be a pain in the ass royalty/celebrity until you die at age 100. Xi just took that very solid idea that might be one of the few ways to bring efficiency to a dictatorship and threw it in the fucking trash because he knows better.

More importantly Hong Kong filled the role of counter culture where opposing ideas could flourish. This basicly allowed a two party discourse even though one party always remained in power. That was removed a few years ago when they ended the mostly autonomous rule and cracked down on Hong Kong with the same censorship the rest of the nation has.

Yeah, rising expectations combined with those expectations being suddenly dashed or reversed or frustrated in some kind of way. It's when a regime is attempting reform that it can end up in a dangerous situation.

>If the jews or americans DON'T get involved.
Something like 28/31 provinces are facing either full revolts or heavy riots to the point where the security forces are stretched far too thin for them to effectively do anything to stem the flow. Even if the Israeli's and the US get involved, the strikes will be focused on the Ayatollah and his inner circle. Meaning that the collapse just happens even faster.
>>
>>64737506
this revolt will hinge on how the Iranian army and republican guard react
if the US and/or Israel intervenes than it's going to nudge them to staying loyal
in general don't stop your enemy when he's making a mistake
if it turns into a full on civil war great
if the regime has to start tuning the army on the protestors also great, more decent and turncoats
>>
>>64737506
The other post already mentioned it, foreigners involving themselves in favour of rebels will cause the military and some people to rally around the flag.
It would give a source for the bullshit the ayatollah is saying about US and Israel already invading them.

Desalination isn't the answer. It's energy intensive and produces concentrated brine that's toxic to the local sea life. You need to pump it deep where it'll pool and not contaminate the local waters. It only works for Israel because they're so small.

Nuclear reactors exist, can double as desalination plants, and still produce grid supply. Maybe if the faggots in CA weren't scard shitless of nuclear because they're too stupid to understand it the problems would have been solved already.

Desal has and could be an option. California benefited and still benefits from federal management of the Colorado River basin which explicitly allows CA to keep getting water for economic reasons
Until the cost of that water was reflecting reality (which it is now due to shortage), desal issues is very attractive now due to that, but it wasn't twenty years ago and certainly not before then. CA now has to do desal or else they will not be able to sustain their southern farms (tho to be fair they were retarded for creating those southern farms anyway)

Fucking bingo. Open spigot irrigation/pivot irrigation is the most wasteful way to do agriculture in that climate and the state still refuses to do anything about it. On top of that there's the massive inefficiencies in landscaping for the climate that still happen despite them knowing how wasteful it is. Building shit like data centers in a fucking desert is also a terrible idea, but that's not just CA being stupid.
>>64738235

yeah, and Iran has oil. but they also have energy problems because Iran's oil refineries are dogshit. so if you solve oil problem they would also solve their desalination problem.
of course it won't be nearly at a scale big enough to sustain Iran, but putting any dent in the water problem is worth it.
they should also combine it with wastewater reuse tech which is a big part of Israel's system, they recycle 90% of their wastewater for agricultural use.

the problem with iran is that there is a solid ideologically loyal base that supports the regime as well as deep state that is heavily dependent and enriched by it.

The vast majority of Russian muslims are Sunnis, and Sunnis as a rule absolutely despise Shias like the Iranian mullahs, seeing them as apostate infidels. Its a political conflict turned sectarian that is roughly 1300 years old.

Imagine a round object. Everyone can see it's round. There are a thousand pictures of it being round. Someone fakes a picture of it actually being square. A group of people, who have seen the thousand round pictures, see the square picture and exclaim, "Ah ha! See! I knew it was psyop! The round object was fake all along!"
This is /pol/. Terminal contrarians who will ignore a mountain of evidence but latch onto one schizo or troll.

Victory, or the perception of victory, destroyed Assad.
He didn't see his enemies as a threat anymore, but the Turks prevented him finishing the job. With a stalemate that he thought would end with his victory inevitably, he was more interested in avoiding a replacement from his own ranks. In the process he hollowed out and destroyed his own power base. Too many factions, too many groups, too much corruption, no sense of purpose.

Before Russia's air force got involved (and to a lesser degree Hezbollah) Assad's fall was only a matter of time. Their involvement basically turned it into the years long stalemate
After Hezbollah's great neutering Tahrir al-sham basically went
>Hold on, Russia is up to its neck in Ukraine, Hezbollah was reduced to irrelevancy and Iran has its own problems with Israel
>This is an opportunity to recover some ground, forward men!
As they pushed, the handful of Assad loyalists stationed in the area got out of the way, which prompted tahrir al-sham to keep going and build up momentum until they ended up in the presidential palace going
>Wait what? did we win?
Basically they discovered Assad's strategy was the military equivalent of leaving the lights on so burglars think someone's home.

Educate yourself you STUPID FUCKING RETARD
Anything that has a nuclear half life has useful energy left in it as nuclear fuel, merely lacking a reactor built to harness that energy and in the process turn it into a lame lump of lead
And anything with a half life more than a couple centuries is so minimally radioactive you can't even measure it's health effects even if you were to build your house on top of the stuff
You have absolutely NO FUCKING CLUE what the FUCK you're talking about, it's a shame that someone as retarded as you has any voting power whatsoever

That anon is a retard but this isn't right at all. The majority of known nuclides are radioactive, but most of them decay so slowly and are so stable that extracting energy to do useful work from them is completely impractical (even theoretically). About 40% of nuclides are stable, 60% aren't, but of those unstable nuclides 52% are stable enough that we've never actually observed a evsn a single decay event, and most of the rest are so stable that you can't do useful work with them.
