you only join the marines during a long drawn out conventional war. particularly in vietnam, it was either deal with draftees or join the marines. i dunno how hard it was to join the air force but something tells me, very hard.

i recall in afghanistan marines were constantly hitting IEDs on convoys because their retarded SOPs told them to drive as fast as possible to lower your chances of hitting them.

All the Marines I met made a very good impression on me, funnily enough the same with ex FFL who were European, absolute gentlemen and honorable in the real sense of always repaying a favour or debt and being polite and not headbangers or bullshitters.

There is a joke someone once told me though

The miltary are doing a recuitment drive for 18 year olds in the UK and they send a para and a royal marine commando
