That could be "80% life" or it could be a voltage threshold wherein it stops working at all (like phones when the battery can no longer supply a high enough instantaneous voltage for max CPU power causing the phone to immediately die if it asks for it, even if the battery can still run for hours at rest).

Some of the /gq/ boys are rolling laser dazzlers like LA-12s, fearing issues like crowd rushes or needing to do checkpoint deterrence, but they're only 200mW and can be at least partially blocked by cheap laser eyepro like $12.99 SPECS off ebay. Obviously this stuff is for extreme situations only, but if these laser rifles are genuinely putting out a kilowatt (the fuck?) they'll be a brutal asset.
