Writefag here, I’m looking for real “out there” firearms that are advanced looking but not too impractical for my sci-fi setting.
>>64754501G11 is about as good as you can choose. It made it through trials and into initial production and worked well, if the Cold War had ended 5 years later it'd have seen a significant amount of mass production and might have gotten far enough to still be around. The action is actually pretty cool and there are a lot of neat features about it, and the caseless is still futuretech.I suppose if you want something in more a DMR or sniping role the WA2000 would be a classic pick, also worked well but expensive and it's still a pretty beautiful gun in my opinion. One amazing kommando actually made a really credible clone of it.
>>64754513GM6 Lynx or a scifi derivative might also fit in somewhere for anti-armor. If your setting has cyborgs or something maybe 50cal semi-auto actually is valuable.
>>64754501The G11 is a shitpile that couldn't even match the M16's performance. So was the Steyr, but at least it doesn't look like ass.
>>64754501Are you specifically looking for guns that match the G11's aesthetic, it's era, ones that are novel like it is?Tell us a bit more about what you're going for.
>>64754528Sounds like he just wants guns that were weird designs and maybe are dead or hyperniche now but did work IRL, not FUSION LIGHTNING PLASMA STREAM nonsense?
>>64754528>Are you specifically looking for guns that match the G11's aesthetic, it's era, ones that are novel like it is?The latter, like my story is mostly set in the 2300's in a cowboy-esque setting within a divided galaxy of inhabited planets, each planet has dozens of nations and depending on the planet, you may encounter nothing more than a few urban crimes and bank robberies and for that I want more impractical, weird designed guns. Other planets are full-on warzones, and for those I want more practical weapons, along with more experimental tanks and vehicles
>>64754523It looks like a starting enemy grunt weapon that you grab from a bad guy, use for a short time, and then quickly discard because it’s awful.
>>64754501side mounted trigger. 20mm grenades. hell yeah.
>>64754727Yeah I didn't have a picture saved but thought of that one, the neopup was wild.
>>64754501the aesthetics are not super outrageous but the logic behind the design is metal af. You can read it in the paper titled The Physical Limits of Rifle Performance. TLDR this meany shoots tiny 4mm *rocket* bullets... at 2500 RPM. Hell yeah.
>>64754501a classic from here
>>64754501artstation can be great for inspiration
>>64754501Laugo AlienThe top of the gun stays fixed when it fires to aid in the use of optics
