Truthpill me on 5.7. Is it good? Is it bad? What's the use case? Are the guns good? Is the ammo good? Is it really more lethal than 9mm? I don't care about the price.
Truthpill is that it’s a decent round, but all the good/fun ammo is restricted for badgeniggers or the military. It would be the uncontested king of the SMG/PDW/PCC category if we could get the good ammo easily and readily.
>>64755034It's design imperative of giving rear echelon troops capability against 80s soviet body armor is not applicable due to improvements in armor and lack of civvy ap ammo. The one real world shooting, the army base Islamic traitor, seems to show great terminal effect. The gun tubers seems to show shitty terminal effect. Whatever your use case is, there is probably a better option. That said I have the keltec r50 I got for half price and it love it. 50 rounds of fast as fuck mouse terds out of a compact 16" barrel.
>>64755034The cartridge is a half baked solution to a contract they thought nobody else would bid for and it feels "unfinished" like they got 70% of the way through development and rushed the final product. Nearly all the guns chambered in it are similarly afflicted. However, it's still going to kill stuff, and its flat ballistic arc/near zero recoil/extremely high capacity all mean you'll be likely to get the hits. P90 magazines are also shockingly cheap and reliable if you get a gun that uses them. Fiocchi doesn't work in everything but their bulk FMJ is like $0.37, which is nice. Overall like 6/10 I guess?
>>64755034IF 9mmlets are to be believed and low recoil, shot placement, and follow up shots are all that matters for handguns then it and .30 super carry mog it into oblivion and 9mms only saving grace is price(irrelevent if youre not poor) and platform availability. Both beat it on capacity and recoil. .22 wmr would be king if not for rimfire, but rimfire has come a long way and its also pretty cheap these days
>>64755034Ruger 57 any good? Theyre on sale for pretty cheap at a LGS
>>64755177Look at the SW 5.7 M&P, factory threaded with suppressor sights. Good feel and capacity. Possibly my next.
>>64755122Shot placement, combined with reliable expansion, and penetration to the 12-18" range *after* penetrating a mild steel barrier and 4 layers of cloth. Shot placement is made easier by lower recoil, and higher capacity, but rounds like 5.7 suffer in regards to post barrier penetration compared to every other centerfire "duty" handgun cartridge. As much as it makes you retards seethe, 9mm wins because it can consistently reach required penetration depths post barrier penetration (with the right loading, but the same goes for .40 and .45), while not performing any different regarding penetration depths and expansion when comparing similarly designed JHP projectiles in .40 to their 9mm equivalent. .30 Super Cuck falls into the same realm that 115 gr 9mm does, where it struggles to maintain reliable penetration post-barrier. I can't understand why you hipster fucks can't just accept that the Deutsches Reich gave us the best automatic pistol cartridge that currently exists.
>>64755213.40 and 10mm mog then, but for any regular civillian defensive use(what YOU will be using it for, not shooting through 2 car doors and 20 feet at a person), 5.7 will more than fulfill your needs
>>64755213>with the right loading, but the same goes for .40 and .45The same goes for any cartridge, Mr. Cornercase provider.
>>64755228The right loading doesnt exist for .22lr
>>64755230Yet another cornercase. Just stop.
>>64755224.40 doesn't provide any better post-barrier penetration than modern 9mm loadings like Federal HST or Hornady Critical Duty, and still has higher recoil, and lower capacity. 10mm often performs the same as .40, or worse, since higher velocities tend to cause the projectiles to perform poorly, limiting expansion. It's not about shooting through 2 car doors. It's about being able to defeat common materials you may be around in day to day life (such as car windshields), and still reliably penetrate to the required depth range without over-penetrating and risking hitting unintended targets. There is a ton of data out there about this subject, which has been backed up by decades of real world results. 5.7 often struggles even after penetrating clothing you ape. It's better than .22 magnum since it's not a rimfire round, but it sure as fuck isn't better than modern 9mm, .40, or .45.
>>64755228Except it doesn't. Thank God the gun world has access to the information regarding what it takes for a handgun round to be ideal for defensive purposes, and doesn't have to rely on gun counter fuddlore spouted by mongoloids like you anymore.
