When I submit a 4473 to a shop in order to buy a handgun, will I be flagged if I've admitted myself (voluntary) to the mental hospital for major depression, in Seattle, WA? I have no criminal record, ostensibly not on the police's radar, I've never even applied for a CPL and gotten my prints recorded. HIPAA keeps me out of the federal background check, no? Not currently on medication, haven't been for a year or so.
>>64759441You're fucked buddy, sorry
>Land of the Free>Can't even own a gun just because you were sad once
>>64759441Did you see a judge?No?You’re fine.
>>64759441No. If it was voluntary it's a private medical record that not only does the NICS not care about, the feds couldn't access without a warrant. If you were ordered to be comitted by a judge in a formal hearing that would be an involuntary commitment.>SeattleMove somewhere else.>>64759444>>64759450Fuck off black pill niggers.
first 1 or 2 times filling out a 4473 I convinced myself that I had committed a felony and just forgot
>>64759441Probably not. Did you go before a judge? People get confused over this one a lot. In order for it to get you turned down you have to have been in front of a judge who committed you. Just getting 302ed isn't enough, voluntarily committing yourself isn't enough. Usually after you've been in the nuthouse for a few days they either let you out or put you in front of a judge to decide what to do with you. Even if the judge decided to hold you it's possible it won't get you flagged on the check, but it is a lot more likely. Seriously just go try to buy the cheapest gun in the store and see if you pass, they probably have some single action .22 revolver for like 100 bucks, and those are decent to learn on and good to have around. No one calls the cops or anything if you fail it, you just don't get the gun. If you pass save up the 100 bucks you spent on the .22 and go back in a month and get whatever you actually wanted.
>>64759555>Seriously just go try to buy the cheapest gun in the store and see if you pass>>64759555>No one calls the cops or anything if you fail it, you just don't get the gun.Yeah, then you get a letter in the mail 11 months later about your court date where the cops argue in front of the judge you were a crazy person trying to get a gun.
>>64759555> No one calls the cops or anything if you fail itAs far as I’m aware, it’s not illegal to fail a background check. It’s only illegal to lie on the form. And if you don’t know whether your commitment counts as disqualifying, you aren’t lying are you? Plus, no cop is going to give a shit since even if they arrest you for lying on the 4473, the prosecutor is almost certainly not going to bother with prosecution. Other than Biden, I’ve never ever heard of someone getting convicted of lying on the 4473, if they even get charged it’s generally thrown out as part of a plea deal.
>>64759583>>64759597I had a buddy who didn't go into details about why he wasn't allowed to own a gun, but he wasn't. During corona he ordered a sig off the net to a gun store, did the 4473 and failed. No cops were called. No letter in the mail. He had to sell the gun to the store for half what he paid for it though to get any of his money back, which is why I recommend trying to buy some cheap thing from the store first so you're only out the money for the background check if you fail. On top of this I've been in gun stores multiple times now when someone gets turned down, and they usually start trying to explain themselves ("just a dumb mistake I made when I was a kid...blah, blah, blah") and the owners usually just say something like "look it doesn't tell me why you failed just that I can't let you have this gun." I've never seen them bother with calling the cops. It would just be more work for them for nothing.
>>64759441>will I be flaggedI hope so. Also, stay on your meds.
>>64759450post guns
>>64759597>Plus, no cop is going to give a shit since even if they arrest you for lying on the 4473, the prosecutor is almost certainly not going to bother with prosecutionAlso on this, fucking everyone lies on those things. I know a guy who only buys guns with a driver's license that says an old address on it so he doesn't have to give his address and puts down some bullshit summer job he had when he was 20 for his place of employment out of paranoia (I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to find him if anyone cared enough). Think of all the potheads in places like colorado that are saying no to the drug use question. All of the alcoholics saying no. Unlike druggies, Most alcoholics don't even admit to themselves that they're addicted and you want an honest answer from them? There's plenty of guys with multiple DUI convictions who have guns because they managed to avoid felony charges. No one gives a shit about that thing unless it sets off the bells and whistles in the computer system which is basically if you've been convicted of a felony 99% of the time, and the other 1% of people so deranged they were actually forcibly held long term at the funny farm. It's never from a case of "I felt suicidal and committed myself for a week" as far as I can tell.
>>64759649Im convinced the meds are what screws people up and makes them psychotic and suicidal in the first place.
>>64759735Meds are just chemicals, chemicals are neutral.Sometimes they are incredibly beneficial, sometimes they interact badly. Sometimes they help but you also happen to get some bad side-effects.
>>64759441>will I be flagged if I've admitted myself (voluntary) to the mental hospital for major depression, in Seattle, WA?Yes, of course you will. You should never ever tell anyone else your problems. It will always be used against you eventually.
>>64759463Correct. The '68 GCA calls it "adjudicated a mental defective". Key word is "adjudicated".
>>64759444>>64759450Yeah black pillers. Fuck off. Stab black pillers with pliers in the throat, heat up mercury and pour it into blackpillers eyes.
>>64759441>4473>SeattleEven better, you're granting WA State Patrol access to your medical records.>HIPAAMaybe for the feds, but not for Washington state. You're looking for SHB 2555, signed by Gov Inslee on 2020-03-18:>Section 1. (1)(c) provides as follows:>>A signed application for the purchase or transfer of a firearm frame or receiver shall constitute a waiver of confidentiality and written request that the health care authority, mental health institutions, and other health care facilities release, to an inquiring court, law enforcement agency, or the state, information relevant to the applicant's eligibility to possess a firearm. The State Patrol's Firearms Background Division will hoover up that data, store it, and make it available to local agencies via WACIC.
