What do /k/ommandos think of full face mandible ballistic helmets? Would the shit vision be worth the better ballistic protection? Found this one from a chinese manufacturer for $740 aussie dollarydoos. NIJ Level IIIA coming in at 2.8kg.

Thoughts?

Giving, straight.
Receiving, gay.

Is this Jinwudun or is this a new outfit? Keep in mind this business is only NIJ-IIIA and will lose to rifle rounds. Nice to have against fragmentation, handguns, and shotguns but if you're in the business of stopping rifle rounds look elsewhere.

Somehow the government has allowed head protection to remain legal to import and own in my state so I won't get v&ed over this kek

Company is called Shenzhen Loop Circle Technology Co. Not heard of Jinwuden before. And yeah I know it's only IIIA but better than nothing

I looked at their plates and saw everything I need to see. Cheat ring is massive. Crack arrestor in another pic looks like rice paper. That's what you get when you pay $43 for each plate. This is strictly C-list. Maybe a little better than Linry or GTEagle, but Jinwudun at least has some reputation.
If you're going to buy Chinese armor of any kind, it's Militech first, then Longfri or Jinwudun if they have something Militech doesn't, which they do.

I feel like it would still fuck you up pretty bad if you took a .44 to the chin. Has anyone run tests to see how much energy these dump into your head and neck?
>>
>>64764290
Thanks for namedropping the better companies, I'll look into them

Depends on the quality of the polyethylene. The Chinese, particularly the cheaper outfits, have a bad habit of not pressing the layers properly or not pressing them at all, which inflates backface deformation of the armor.
If the mandible has reasonable standoff from your face you'll be fine even if the PE is substandard. There's a reason why nobody in their right mind uses the masks that press up right against your face, however.

>>
>>64764293
Yeah it'd absolutely fuck you up but you have a better chance of surviving a round to the face with it on

Not a problem. Are you able to buy a shield at least down under? Jinwudun has a lot of pretty attractive options for under $1.5k. Some anons in New York are entertaining the same because you can't buy armor that you "wear" there. A shield is held, not worn.

>>64764331
Yeah, the entire thing really.
>>
>>64764325
That's also a decent argument for wearing extremity IIIA in a rifle-intensive environment. The soft armor will still reduce terminal ballistics, even though you would have to stack a IIIA panel six times over to even have a chance at stopping M193 / M855.
>>
>>64764344
As far as I know you can buy ballistic shields so I'll check them out too. Mili-tech has a pretty nice IIIA visor that covers the majority of face that I'm now considering
>>
>>64764356
If you extend that argument to its logical conclusion, then you would just be in a tank. But it turns out those have tradeoffs too.
>>
>>64764322
I don't even mean from deformation, there's nothing to stop it from twisting your neck. I looked it up and .44 mag can hit with double the force of a heavyweight boxer. Obviously better than taking a bullet directly to the jaw, but it's gonna rock your shit no matter what.

what would happen if a rock or a brick flies off and smahes the hemet would it crush your face?
>>
>>64764368
Not really, it's risk management coupled with trying to maximize protection while minimizing weight. You'll see plenty of dudes in Ukraine rolling lots of extremity armor because it does matter there due to frag threats. Also, the medical situation there is very shit (people leave TQs on for too long because med care is a ways away, bad juju) so anything that can reduce severity would also be welcome.
Another reason why people roll extremity IIIA is that getting reliable, reasonably lightweight rifle extremity armor is super dicey over there. The all-PE stuff won't really help you against steel core.
>>64764370
That's the newton's third law problem. Watch this video of a guy getting shot with a .308. More than double the energy. Much faster, more effective round.
You'll be fine if the armor is appropriately built. That's hard to verify with the Chinese a lot of the time.

Massive mobility penalty in terms of weight and heat retention. Good luck on those 3-5 second rushes.

The funniest part about ballistic helmets always not being covered by the laws that ban body armour is that the whole police panic attack about body armour is unironically a fucking reflex action to Ned Kelly dabbing on police in the 1800s and the most iconic thing about him was his helmet.
>>
>>64767884
Digital NVG/IR do not need the viewscreen physically behind the detector. We are already to the point where full face helmets can just have super low latency 240fps, 4k VR screens connected to a camera array.
>>
>>64768275
It's less than a pound for every 6x8 or equivalent panel you add on, lol.

It would be extremely painful.
