Would soldiers having a HUD like in games improve their combat effectivenes?
yes, better situational awareness about teammates, communications, ammunition, navigation and team status would be useful regardless of 'cringe' statements
>>64769450Cringe.
>>64769450They tried this in Aliens and almost lost the whole team.
Depends what it does. Ammo counters and objective lists are useless gimmicks, you already know that shit. 3d maps with live-updated route waypoints and target markers could be very useful, would make smoke grenades and IR designators irrelevant because you mark a target on your HUD and everybody in the whole network knows immediately exactly where you think the fire is coming from. Or maybe you dont even need to, with gunshot microphones on all your vehicles automatically marking where fire is coming from, maybe with the right blue force tracker setup they could even automatically take them out with smart munitions. Skies the limit desu.
>>64769450Absolutely, having a minimap is a godtier superpower for situational awareness. On the same level as F-35s sensor fusion. The years I played MMOs I probably spent more time watching the minimaps than the graphics

>>64769450>>64769469Already being made.
>>64770074It bothers me how sometimes the minimap is anchored to the viewport with an acceleration and overshoot animation, and sometimes it's anchored to the world.
>>64769469fuck it give soldiers wallhack
>>64769450Try playing a video game with and without minimap and markers and see the difference, and what to say about the ability to spot and mark objectives for others to see.
>>64769450Yes, which is why they've been trying to build one for years. The problem is that the real life versions have a very narrow field of view so they have to cram everything into the center of your vision rather than putting it around the periphery like in videogames, and you can't increase the field of view without making it too bulky to wear.
>>64769450they just need to come up with a way to display it without sticking a brick to your face
>>64771164Oakley and Meta by way of Anduril already have it covered
