Alright /k/I’m working on a game that has you up against machine human hybrid soldiers that are heavily influenced by the following.>Strogg from Quake 2 and 4>Virus 1999>Borg from First ContactI should note there is no nanoprobes stuff for the Borg or Strogg.If you had the chance to arm the common soldier against these creatures, which can range from crabs that move around and collect materials, to humanoids built from the flesh of the fallen employing the same loadouts, to large tracked cyborgs that tower over humans and tear open doors and corridors like it’s nothing,what loadout would you give them, and why, to counter this?

>>64771428The easy answer is some sort of EM weapon. In fictionland an EMP is usually harmless to meatbags but crippling to electrical systems.You could follow that trend.

>>64771428>what loadout would you give them, and why, to counter this?There is no realistic loadout that can counter that for a common soldier without figuring out some sort of really niche scenario, which isn't impossible and could be cool and fresh if done well but also would be pretty autistic and niche. You'd need the same sorts of weapons used for counter armored vehicles basically, ATGMs, big anti-material rifles in certain cases, crew served stuff, traps (IEDs etc), maybe drones now depending on if you make the tracked cyborgs artificially shit but not giving them any point defense. If this is meant to be more quake/doom/unreal/marathon style arcade-y then the typical range of sci-fantasy weapons, magic plasma and coilguns etc will no doubt work fine. Or you could lean into that painkiller style and flat out use magic stuff, countering tech with creative meaty blessed hand cannons or ballista or whatever and just have fun with "1800s tech + magic vs soft scifi monstrosities".
>>64771439Also give the peashooter a separate ammo pool (maybe regenerating or even straight up infinite) and make it decently accurate compared to the rapid fire gun. This way the starter peashooter doesn't waste a slot and is always useful as a secondary plinking tool for low tempo situations and interacting with the environment.
