What's /k/'s opinion on Project Sundial?Should it have been built?
>>64771649Give us 200 years and we will have with AM something you can fit in a Tomahawk and not a immobile structure the size of the Empire State.
>>64772706>the CIA suit who makes AM rifle ammo in Three Body ProblemSo insane I love it.
>>64771649Who says it wasn't? Black site in Antarctica.
>>64772731A failsafe? Huh…thought the better idea was to have it near the caldera…just in case.
>>64772731>a weapon that will melt the ice caps causing major floods across the globe and rising temperatures leading to mass starvationSounds like some plot for a Tom Clancy book
>>64772745>>64772758*Allegedly* it's a NATO-owned weapon and requires more than just POTUS to turn the key, hence why it's in ostensibly neutral territory. It should, it's a 10-gigaton cobalt-salted nuke.
>>64772821Ah, the Fuck You bomb. Our answer if the dreaded “other” try’s to take the planet.
>>64772848If detonated, the fireball would be over a hundred miles wide and cause third degree burns a thousand miles out. The premise is quite sound. If the grays attempt to conquer earth, whether by invading or the captive ones escaping containment at Dulce Base and the other DUMBs, it will make any and all resource extraction definitely not worth their time.
waste of resources for the most part, since getting it to an opfor nation is relatively hard and multiple smaller warheads are almost always more efficient.it's possible and workable to put a multigigaton device on something like an enlarged poseidon (functionally a full-sized nuclear powered suicide submarine in the case of sundial), but it'd probably just be better to use warheads in the 100s of megatons to reduce size and weight like poseidon itself and make multiple of them for the same cost.
>>64772874The purpose is a suicidal "final weapon" like Pluto. They did plan on a smaller Sundial called Gnomon, which was only 1 gigaton but never went anywhere I think...
>>64771649>cant be used on a planet you want to live onYeah it's a fucking great idea let's build several
>>64772870And render Earth a waste for us to live on the surface >>64772898Hasn’t stopped us before
>>64772898It's final deterrence. You nuke NATO, NATO guarantees your destruction via a nuke you cannot intercept. Rumor has it the Chinese have massive nukes onboard large cargo container vessels. Cartels south of the border have stolen Russian backpack nukes, hence why the US has never done a Salsa Verde desert storm.
>>64772898nah. it'd only be dangerous on a global scale if it was salted with something like cobalt-60. its actual blast isn't all that terrible for said global scale. it's more impractical than anything else even if you're capable of getting it to an opfor nation reliably. you don't actually need that much overall energy to cripple a nation and take them out of the race for a very long time if it's distributed across the most important strategic targets.
>>64773240>if it was salted with something like cobalt-60It is.
>>64772915>>64772931>>64773240Look at all these retards crawling out of the woodwork
The glowie has arrived. We know MJ12 built the sundial chief.
>>64772821Do you have a single fact to back that up?
>>64771649Teller bombs are pointless unless most of a state's population and economy isn't on earth. I'd guess these things are built around ~2200 AD
>>64773268It came to me in a dream
>>64772731>>64772821>>64773273They made a movie about this in the 60's you Philistines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmCKJi3CKGE
>>64771649No point. For the same reason the Sovs didn't make the yield of the "Tsar Bomba" 100MT. The fireball would have hit the top of the atmosphere and been a waste resources.
