Germany is getting it's war face on.
Saw like two scenes. Did the Tiger I have snorkeling ability? I don't remember that being a thing. The ISU scene is pure Fury bullshit.
>>64774436Not as insane/funny as T34. Not as edgy/comfy as Fury. But the tank looks nice. Almost makes up for the ending botching the whole movie. Gansel did a better job with Napola and with Die Welle. If it would be a random director I would actually praise the film. This way it's a mixed bag with pros and cons weighing out quite flat. Without the hype I would find it probably solid like The Bunker, Deathwatch or other fancy war horror slop.
>>64774457>Not as edgy/comfy as Furytoo lightweight, this has more a das boat stalingrad edge, watch the german version with subtitles "Das Tiger"Also "Generation war" all the WW2 survivors thought it was goodhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADg8zmj2vD0All the putin mosfilm stuff is shit and hollow as fuck.
>>64774453They did on the early models as they'd probably break most bridges. Could go 3-4m deep
>>64774436if you are wanting more 'serious' war movies that dooesnt necessarily focus on guns/firefights but just good war movies, these are the essentials>inb4 apocaplyse now isnt a vietnam war moviecounting it anyway because its a classic
>>64774453>Did the Tiger I have snorkeling ability"Early Tigers were capable of submersed travel. They had a snorkel that could be assembled and attached to the rear deck.Snorkel storage inside a TigerWhen not in use, the snorkel was broken into 3 segments that fit inside each other. The device was then stored inside the tank, at the rear left of the engine compartment. This rough sketch shows where it was kept; inside a large tube, fixed to the hull roof, that also served as the 4th segment of the snorkel. At the bottom of the tube was a connection to an air duct on the floor."https://tiger1.info/EN/RM5003-snorkel.html
>>64774508>>64774517Huh, neat.
>>64774453>The ISU scene is pure Fury bullshit.no where close, they survive because they land the tank in a shellhole and the ISU misses plus one of the crew gets killed by splinters from a valid glancing fromt armour hit, no brad pitt capseshit in that
>>64774457I liked the ending I'll let you in on a secret most people with survivor guilt wonder if they are in purgatory, it's common.
>>64774436for /k/-esque movies because of the gunfights, these are also goodi would include more john woo movies but it would wind up eating up the entire collage, if you havent seen them they are all greatpure cinema slop where everyone has unlimited ammo, a bullet hitting a red tank makes it explode, and its like the max payne gamesevery movie just has them dual wielding berettas and diving through windows while shooting, its pretty sickhonorable mentions are also lethal weapon & die hard
Am I the only one who thought the twist was utterly preidctable? Still, solid acting, especially from the lead.
>>64774493I'm German so I really enjoyed Generation War. For a state TV production a pleasant surprise that covered some of the less known aspects of the war. It does however suffer from the problem of most German movies: there are no Nazis. And if they are they are some comical villains. Think about it, how many friends or family members ate up the Covid fearmongering? Or the climate fearmongering? And now you tell me no average Joe in Germany back then bought into the Jew fearmongering? Doesn't seem likely to me. Let's see, maybe one day we will see Nazis in German movies, that are not a distorted caricature but what they were: regular people with their beliefs and ideologies that led them to do quite a bit of bullshit. No monstrosity or psychopathy, even though cases like that surely existed too back then.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IkDvHUrbHcc
somehow forgot to add John Wick to this >>64774547 , that is pure /k/ino slop
>>64774547I really appreciated that Tarantino paid attention to round counts and the necessity of picking up revolvers from dropped opponents rather than attempting a cap and ball reload mid shootout.Or in the Hell on Wheels series they copied Clint Eastwood and did a cylinder swap on an 1858 Remington as quicker reload.
This is peak Germanokino. Pretty dark, but darkly hilarious as well a lot of the time. Make sure to watch "Der Hauptmann von Muffrika" as well as a companion piece.
>>64774457Try thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq9iRTP0vwE>>64774555Generation war was sehr gut. The nurse was my favorite characterhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-Do0S9SUogI knew some ex waffen SS as a kid, they were very fucked up and did very bad things you would hear it when they drank together,
>>64774555I knew the daughter of the man who handed the Nazi declaration of war to the Americans.
more /k/ino slop, this time with /a/ shows tooi think this does cover about every /k/ino slop i know except for behind enemy lines, which is shit but the villian sasha is badass>>64774590while its over the top and unrealistic, i do like that the revolvers all have real impact to them and it doesnt just feel like its a toy gun that magically hits the bad guy who then does a dramatic pose and falls over, also that it doesnt have people just dying instantly and instead has them writhing around and bleeding out
>>64774457>Not as insane/funny as T34https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yZDix5w-SU4
>>64775024best part of the movie is the love interest simply walking out of the prison camp using her yearly vacation day.
>>64774517Huh, didn't actually know that. Kinda crazy to still learn something about the big cat. Thanks, anon.
>>64775024>>64775152there is no best partm unless you are on drugs and enjoy mosfilm cgi the problem oputinslop has is that it's both badly made AND cringethis is a better movie than t34https://youtu.be/sqDa_HQ54ig?si=alhX0Hb3WzPtSo6Y&t=67
>>64774659I know and love Stalingrad (1993). I would count it among the trifecta of excellent German war movies (Die Brücke (1950s version), Das Boot, Stalingrad). There's other nice ones like Adventures of Werner Holt and 08/15. Growing up we had a VCR recorder but my dad Uninstaller the satellite disk so we would ask neighbors to record movies for us to watch. When I asked for Stalingrad, agter recording it our neighbor asked my parents if it's ok to give us kids the recording. :DAs for Waffen SS. It's not such a black (ha!) and white topic. I remember the scandal when I was in high-school: one of the most celebrated and awarded leftist and Nazi critic author turned put to have been Waffen SS member as a teenager. Personally, I barely care which uniform someone wore, but how they conducted themselves. In the end when they stand before God He will probably care more about what they did than what colors they wore.
>>64775227Günther GraSS. I always thought the "scandal" was overblown. The guy was a seventeen, eighteen year old tank gunner.
>>64775227A lot of waffen SS went into the FFL but there were some real psychos in the ones who survived by being wounded they used cacle like hens togther talking about atrocities they saw when drinking reprisals on civilians and such things. The shit that went on in 43 was straight from hell on the eastern front, including the stuff the Russians did when they caputured field hospitals but it makes a difference to me, my expience of them is that they were still bad people and cruel and sadistic by nature. They had no problem at all delighting in killing wermacht too when they found a straggler and decided they were deserters. Like I say, fucked up men.My favorite is probably stalingrad, das boat and generation war, I have only watched the remake of das brücke which is no good, I will watch the 1950s one, thank you for the recomendation.I was also force fed sven hassel.
>>64775267the ones drafted at the end were not the same as the ones that were real fanatics mid war, they generally only suvived the war because they were missing limbs by 44
>>64775024>that paintjob on the model>that fire
Hallo frens, how are you today?I am Oskar a fun guy haha. I was also Waffen-SS and udner the command of SS-Totenkopf's 5th Regiment and later Waffen-Sturmbrigade RONA. There I provided humanitarian aid and engaged in conflict resolution and gave free hugs. Many thigs have been said that are very hurtful and not one of them mentions my love of making pictures using prints from carved potatoes. The Waffen SS were a peace keeping force, purely enaged in refugee relief that were placed in a terrible position and none of the rumours that you may have heard are true.
I just saw the Tiger movie. The only place I really take issue, is if they were all already dead, spirits wandering the Eastern Front, how did Keilig die a second time? The bunker scenes all gave me the creeps
>>64774436Now we need the brits to make one named The Centaur and a french named Le Renault.
>>64774514>putting the shitty 2022 remake instead of the better 1979 remake or the 1930 original movieOpinion already disregarded>Putting the slopfilm known as Enemy at the gates instead of Stalingrad 1993Opinion double disregarded
>>64775708I think you can take it as the journey of their souls after death. He is the one who was the most vocal against the war and he is the only one to die before they reach their destination and gets buried under a clear sky in nature. His suffering has ended and all in all he gets peaceful imagery, so perhaps we can take that as him reaching heaven. The others are last seen left back behind at the bunker party, which has a dingy, creepy atmosphere yet tries to project a sense of happiness. I think you can take that as a purgatory of a kind. The commander, who was the one who started the burning of the civilian shelter in Stalingrad and got his crew killed via his hesitancy to withdraw (be it from having lost his will to live or a desire to avenge his family) is the only one to reach the end, which is pretty much a clear-cut hell.So all in all I think Keilig "dying" again is basically him being allowed off Mr. Samsara's wild metaphysical ride early, having paid his karmic debt.
>>64774436Aren't they using the same Tiger as the one that showed up in Fury?
>>64775909Nope, this one is a bodykit.
>>64775909>>64775942I believe it was a Leopard 1>>64775889Thanks dude, good analysis
how can it be /k/ino if it doesn't have an actual entire infantry division acting as extras?
>>64774436This movie is piss-retarded. Full stop.Fucking SS tank crew with feelings? All the bow-gunner ever really wanted to do was get back home to resume teaching children? They the fucking SS crew) are appalled with a Wehrmacht colonel torching a partisan village? The worst enemy they face is a single piece of shit tank destroyer who apparently can't hit shit, even if the target is in the fucking open and NOT MOVING.Everything about this movie with the sole exceptions of the props and the sets itself was so fucking retarded it's deeply embedded in cringe territory. The Bunker and Deathwatch are way better fantasy/horror offerings than this piece of shit film. And Cross of Iron is so good, even today, anybody watching that and then watching this stupid movie back to back would be embarrassed for the film crew.Don't waste your time, unless you put it on mute and just enjoy the gear porn. The plot and script are straight garbage.
>>64774547going to go see the 4K of Hard-Boiled in my local theater this Sunday, anyone else going to see it in theaters?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ra-ZQ0hY3w
I thought Konvoi was nice. A Norwegian film about a merchant ship in the Arctic convoys.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrc9aRDKpyc
>>64775889The notion that an SS fanatic could ever pay a "karmic debt" in twelve lifetimes is fucking stupid on its face. And attempting to "humanize" SS suffering is fucking laughable. This could have been done effectively with Wehrmacht soldiers, and has been done many times. Trying to do it with SS maniacs, who were shot on sight by allies for a reason, is ridiculous.
>>64776074You might be retarded. The tank crew is regular army. The Deathsheads on their collar were a tank thing, not an SS thing. The unit burning the village is SS.
>>64776103>NOOO, all members of this branch filled with transfers from Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine as well as draftees are evil fanatics and deserve death because they are murderous fanatics to the last! You don't even see the irony in your statement, do you?
>>64776074>>64776106The commander also identifies his crew as belonging to 503rd heavy panzer, which was a Wehrmacht unit.
>>64776106Not a single armor unit on the Eastern front wore skull insignia, EXCEPT Waffen-SS, midwit. Get back on your school bus and learn something, dumbass.
>>64776103503. Schwere Panzerabteilung was not an SS unit to start with, so your whole rant falls apart within six words already.
>>64776130Wrong.
>>64776090Any love for Greyhound?
>>64776209No. Comically evil furry German uboat captains and criminally incompetent uboats makes it ameriwank.
>>64776302>criminally incompetent uboatsWhat? The convoy loses like 2/3 of their ships by the end. And it's not like U-boats had a high survival rate by IIRC 1943 when this takes place
>>64776130You have very strong opinions about stuff you know nothing about.
>>64776103SS were neo-pagan eccentrics with alien morals even in the context of the rest of the 3rd Reich, but they weren't always Buddy Oskar in their dealings; on an organizational level, they were only racist in so much that they viewed non-Aryans as being intrinsically inferior to themselves, yet generally still saw them as human [Slavs and Mongolians aside] and were the main minders of the Reich's foreign volunteer units. The SS as a whole had a more mild opinion of Muslims than the modern German right of today.
>>64776074>SS tank crewThere's your problem, you're too retarded to understand the movie
>>64776103You are aggressively retarded, holy shit dude. Take yourself and your fucking spacing back to red*it
>>64776130
>>64774590I wanted to like hell on wheels very badly but there was just way to much niggers in it. Deadwood was good though but not really/k/
>>64775889That's how I viewed it too. Keilig was killed pretty gruesomely, but quickly all things considered. And he was laid to rest. I think the theme of karmic judgment could have been reinforced with more hints to what's actually(?) going on. If others in the crew were injured/killed and we knew what their prior actions were. The ending scenes in the bunkers work enough, the commander leaves his mean at a party. He has to move ahead and face flames and it's because he bore the responsibility for giving orders. Still, I could have seen myself getting more into the movie if they leaned heavier into the Twilight Zone type stuff. As it was, I think it was a decent enough watch but I don't see myself thinking about it much after.>>64775991From what I've looked up: T-55 with extra magenetic roadwheels attached (or CGI'd in for moving shots) They definitely did a decent job with the mockup. For interior shots they probably just made a replica of inside a Tiger.A Czech museum has the mockup with the same number as the tank in the film (311) So I think it's the vehicle seen at 8 min in herehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toHpwbepdg0
>>64776884That was supposed to be a t-62 in the move right?I don't remember them having flamethrower modifications. I'm not sure if it was some obscure piece of kit or made up for the movie
>>64776939They may have been very rare, but a lot of online lists of T-62 variants include a flamethrower version. https://www.inetres.com/gp/military/cv/tank/T-62.htmlIn the movie, they're using an Israeli T-55 that looks a lot like a T-62 because of Israeli modifications, not done for the movie itself.
>>64776209I am amused by the U-Boat Captain awooing at Tom Hanks.
>>64776850>>64775889If we're going by merit for being a good enough person to "die" again, I would suggest that Christian the gunner was also a good man and probably deserved it about as much as Keilig did.Maybe it's just because he's my 2nd favorite character (Keilig is 1st)
The demonic sounding man speaking scripture in Latin over the radio stayed with me
Any battleship/battlecruiser kinos? I love their aesthetics
>>64774757JINROH IS FUCKING BORING AND FAGS THAT REC IT HAVEN'T SEEN IT
This Korean War movie will make a strong man cry
>>64777162It's about what you're trying to get out of it. A lot of "people" go in with warped expectations because of The Scene, without putting 2 and 2 together that there's probably a reason why there aren't any more like it getting posted.
>>64774514>Siege of FagotvilleThat movie is awful and the story behind it is lame
>>64776209I wanted to love it as the WW2 destroyers and corvettes in the Atlantic against uboats is a pretty fascinating conflictBut yeah, cartoonishly evil germans kind of ruined what could have been potentially great. I think they are filming a sequel though
not very /k/, but very ww2https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0039417/
