Today I learned that full frontal ATV assaults are a waste of human lives and equipment.

>A large Russian ATV assault in the Novopavlivka direction was stopped by the Unmanned Systems Battalion "Perun" of the 42nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of Ukraine

Our weapojs have evolved a lot in this centuries.
Our main weapon platform(humans) has not.
The balance will start coming back only once we get cyborg alas.
Then war will become fun again
Unless you re the guy getting crushed to death by the cyborg because you were to poor to afford full body replacement i guess.
There is so much you can atill squeeze out of stuff like air power or artillery before you hit a plateu, the Human form as barely been taped into

They scatter troops as much as possible, hoping some will get through through gaps that neither they nor the Ukrainians are aware about. Such gaps always exist in a dynamic frontline as both sides posture and position.

Eventually enough of the trash filters through to cause problems, and the Russians advance another snail-length westward.

the Russian attack strategy very seriously is this:
>drive forward until people start dying
>find a hole and crawl into it
>use a radio to tell your commander where you ended up and potentially get supply drops via drone
>hold position, you will be relieved in 5 to 30 days
>>

Russia hadn't turned all its equipment into scrap by that point, and Russia's prisons hadn't been sucked completely dry of able and willing rapists and murderers. They also had an overwhelming superiority in artillery back then. Despite Prigozhin's famous whining, Wagner was sucking up all the resources of the regular army. They were the best equipped and supplied unit at the time. We might have been laughing at the Russian army's alibaba gear back then but compared to the donbabwe tier suicide troops being sent out now, they might as well have been delta force.
>>
>>64792474
Alot of territory held by russians is literally a single guy hiding in a basement for weeks on end. Clearing russians positions is a much about just finding them in the first place as actually killing them at this point. The same is true for the Ukrainians positions in some areas.

Comparing prices directly is completely useless here, what matters is each nation's relative ability to sustain losses (if you treat ammunition expenditure as losses)
A nation with a GDP of 1 trillion fighting a nation with a GDP of 200 billion dollars can afford to spend up to five times as much on any given exchange and still be ahead economically. To take it further, if you spend expensive systems and munitions to end a war quickly, or at least to kneecap your enemy, it doesn't matter if you "lost" 10x more or 100x more monetary value worth of munitions, avoiding protracted attrition warfare is still worth it

To have what Norway has you need a liberal government. But liberalism is a weak ideology and conservatives have the advantage of the willingness to do violence in the name of self-centered greed.
If you gave a conservative a magic button that could kill anyone, he would use it to threaten people into licking his boots.
If you gave a liberal the same button he would use it to convince people to stop fighting among themselves and work together to lift everyone up.
If you put the button on the ground between a conservative and a liberal with ownership of the button up for grabs, the conservative sees that all his evil dreams are within his grasp and he kills the liberal to realize them. The liberal does not have the instinct to kill the conservative to realize the dream of "peace on Earth."

Russia is ruled by Putin because he was willing to kill for the button, and he maintains control by lying to the conservative base that attacking the West will end with the West licking their boots. They support him because they believe that his use of the button will lift them up through hurting others. This is a very simple and straightforward ideology that speaks to your basest emotions, while liberalism is an exercise of intellect.

>I don't buy this. You don't climb the prison ladder by pretending to have friends.
You're thinking too hard on this. Putin himself doesn't have friends, only tools. While those very same tools can be mislead into believing that Putin is a friend of theirs in one way or another. Everyone knows that Putin's word is law in Russia and what he says/wants is what happens/gets done. The moment that Prigo began his march on Moscow was the moment that Putin knew that the man had to die. Throughout the entire Wagner debacle, Prigo made it abundantly clear that he wasn't after Putin but two other of his closest confidants. Both of whom were far closer to Putin than Prigo was. Prigo believed that his loyalty to Putin went both ways without realizing that the moment ammunition was starting to be drip fed to his forces was the moment that Putin had most likely given his quiet consent to have him killed. I say this because I think Putin feared Prigo's ambition as well as feared that his openness towards the ongoing of the war was starting to turn the public against Putin. So the moment that Prigo began his march, Putin was locked into the mindset that Prigo had to be removed. And once Prigo halted the march in order for him to make a deal with Putin, Putin took this as an opportunity to allow for him to "air his grievances." at the cost of exiling himself and his men. Prigo took this because he trusted Putin wholeheartedly and once Prigo got onto his personal jet to leave, Putin struck.

you guys are all retards, this was just a typical failed coup. Priggy was hoping to catch Putin completely off-guard, but Rosgvardiya didn't flip-sides or stay on the side-lines and were in the process of fortifying Moscow. If the coup were to succeed, Wagner would need to slug it out through the city for weeks on end, and hope that it had enough firepower supplies to see it through, and that no-one else intervenes on Putin's behalf. Then there's the possibility that Putin might've already fled to St. Petersburg (which was very likely), making the fight for Moscow a prelude to a full-on civil war at best, and completely pointless at worst. Prigozhin probably figured that the best thing he could do at the moment was negotiate a surrender, even if it meant getting shot out of the sky as just about anything is better than getting your dick skinned in an FSB basement.

I miss the post drone videos. I think Russia was at its lowest point when the internet was full of videos of their tormented deaths such that they couldn't escape seeing it. It was a snowball kind of thing, where it forced their commanders to distance themselves from their own troops and to dehumanize them completely and that made them even more callous with their welfare and lives. I think it convinced them that their mobiks becoming NBCAS was a kinder fate and made it more prevalent, I really mean it.

Basically I want more sadistic mobik gore on the internet again. I want the internet to be a a hostile place for ziggers that is hazardous to their psychological wellbeing.
>>
>>64796169
Russian aspect of subhumanity at it's best. They unironically believe themselves to be the most manly, trad, smartest, honest, honorably, best at fighting, the least gay people in the world, and they can't discern that their own actions prove otherwise. So from the position of people who dealt with Rusniggers, who are the most apathetic, cowardly and servile people to exist, it was the obvious do or die, but for Prigo, the Russian, it was Russian brotherhood, the czar that didn't know, the most peaceful ruler to exist, so naturally the czar will be lenient towards him, will he not?

He was sold out by Surovikhin at the last moment. At the time, Surovikhin was commanding the entire southern front, to include Kherson - the only front going remotely well for them, and the one being given better quality troops to defend it. Surovikhin was actually a pretty decent commander, but he was allied with Prighozin, and was presumably supposed to mutiny alongside him. He would have provided the forces and legitimate commanding authority needed to make good on this rebellion. Instead, he did nothing, either chickening out or selling out. Prighozin's coup failed and he was assassinated shortly thereafter. Surovikhin, by contrast, was very quickly replaced and shunted to some dead-end role for general officers whose careers are over. But of course, he and his family were alive, and allowed to keep all of their honors and assets. Which leads me to believe he did sell out.

When considering the russian tendency of projection, one must wonder about the little drone footage they do occasionally publish.
I've heard mobiks whine about their own side's night bombers before, and we all glow the same on thermals.

Just draw it to the logical limit. Have computers simulate the conflict, losing side admits defeat and pays (digital signing of resource ownership transfer).

This way, nobody dies and you don't waste money on destroying or rebuilding infrastructure. The true Platonic end state of war is a mathematical balance adjustment.

Yeah. TLDR russian lieutenant and another soldier try to save two ukie civis from getting killed by other russian soldiers. Russian political officer spots them and give order to fire at them anyway. Lieutenant and mother dies while the daughter and other soldier escape.

I've seen plenty of dead civilians and dead Russians since this war started but there's still something profoundly sad about a civilian side by side with a Russian that actually had a conscience.
Glad it wasn't for nothing at least and the story got told. Makes me wonder how many others are decomposing in the open or feeding the stray dogs as their reward for trying to show basic decency in war, indistinguishable from the uniformed savages rotting beside them.

Boyars are there to bleed the population dry and send the meat into the trenches. And it's for the great czar to step in and "save" the people when it gets too bad.

He did the one mistake no boyar should make - he got himself liked by the people and made the czar look bad in comparison, which means he became an actual threat to the throne.

It's why his supply lines suddenly dried up. Within the next couple of years he would be forced to leave the public eye and later fall out of a window.

He realized he was dead anyway, so he gambled.

It's why Kadyrov gets such good treatment - he could never backstab because in the eyes of an average russian he's some mountain subhuman who could never replace a russian in the throne.

>tit for tat always wins, its literally a mathematical truth.
Eh, not really. Tit-for-tat is robsutly effective, but generally outperformed by strategies more tailored to the game (and your opponents). It is also highly susceptible to noise and retaliation loops, while being strictly outperformed by Generous Tit-for-tat.

Really? An fpv done with thermals cost 500 dollars? I know the drone is cheap and the payload is just cheap surplus, a 1080p camera is also cheap. But if you put thermalk on it its got to be more then 500 bucks

Only in multiple rounds prisoners dilemma where you don't know in advance what the number of rounds is and only if you sometimes randomly forgive.

The problem with math is people who believe that the very simple problem they solved rigorously would apply to much more complex issues.

The fall of the Communism had a transformative effect on the minds of everyone alive in Russia. The scramble to the top introduced a mentality whereby success made you a better, more deserving person than the unsuccessful. Sure, you lied, cheated and killed your way to the top of the pile, but the others around you would have done the same, but were spiritually weak, thus you were always destined to attain your position. It's not corruption or theft; it's taking what was always yours.

>russia collapses again and becomes a caliphate.
Nothing would make me laugh harder if Russia 'wins' and then immediately starts to fracture because Kadyrov (or his replacement) decides that Russia is weak and wants a better deal and or independence. Fun fact, nearly 90% of ISIS members were from Russia, essentially paid to go cause trouble by Russia. Which is hilarious when they did that opera terror attack a few years ago.

This. For a society to function like a western one largely does you need to hit a certain critical mass of people willingly binding themselves by laws, rules and norms. If you fall below that critical mass, you end up with a whole lot of people wondering why they should be bound by them when nobody else seems to be. Nobody gets the benefits of a functional social contract so by trying to adhere to it, you're just asking to be fucked over by the people who won't, at least in theory.
It's a vicious cycle and it's a pretty deep set rot in Russia at this point.
>>
>>64826738
It's more like encountering the capitalist mentality with zero inoculation against its worst aspects. They saw the west and all they saw was a way to get money, fuck everyone else.
Kinda like we're seeing now in reverse with the rise of political correctness in the west.

human body is way too fragile for war yes. Torso and head protections are adequate but limbs are completely unprotected. Random shrapnel or bullets can easily lead to amputations. Its pretty telling the main killer of experienced soldiers is not death but loss of limbs

Replacement of lost organics with plastics/alloys that work just as good as the originals will be another revolution in military. When soldiers can get second and beyond chances to return and amputations become a painful inconvenience, not a life altering event like it is now

Full body replacements is still firmly in the realm of sci-fi as one can't imagine the level of nanotech required to restore all of the nerve synapse connections with the artificial bodies structure. Imagine removing the brain and spine, nevermind keeping them alive through the ordeal, and then supplementing them into a new body. Even if you keep the actual skull and vertebrae intact to not damage the core nerve clusters as much as possible

If you can connect artificial limbs to replace amputated ones and they respond perfectly to signals from the nervous system, then might as well take the most severe cases (quadruple amputees) and put them into pic related half mechs. Keep the supporting organs of the torso area intact that is specifically evolved to keep the brain alive. While having the benefits of a full armored heavy cyborg, albeit a chunky one

Those lumps of fat called brain are still susceptible to shockwaves even if you encase them in sturdier materials.

If you have all that scifi-tech either scan the brain and upload it or remote-control the war bodies.
Realistically speaking we're just going to get more autonomous robots, not upgraded humans on the battlefield. But that trajectory is socially destabilizing because it puts the tools of power into the hands of fewer people.

>Russia is ruled by Putin because he was willing to kill for the button,

he took over during a period of weakness, because he had established himself as head of the St. Petersburg Mafia with his KGB connections and the money he stole while in the service. He's been described as a lifelong kleptomaniac who can't stop stealing.

In another context, Putin is a bug the state sentences to 40 years and confiscates everything he has.

So Putin primarily comes from the period of weakness, where Russia didn't get its house in order after the fall of the USSR, and didn't stamp out corruption.
