Obviously it COULD end up being a decent jet that Canada is “missing” out on, but presently it would be an unproven gamble for Canada to go out on a limb and place an order for KF-21s. Before the KF-21 even officially enters South Korean service. Also, the KF-21 still uses countless US components, so it's hardly fully divorced from the US either, whereas the Gripen at least theoretically COULD be re-engined with an EJ200 derivative.
