What are those tabs between the sights on top of the receiver for? Were they always intended to be used as an optics mount? were they on the original guns or added later like AR pic rails?

>>64831273>MFW it could actually work (minus the handguards just chilling out in space) with a redesigned BCG
>>64830302>>Were they always intended to be used as an optics mount?>Yes.The optics tabs weren't added to the MP-5 until 1973
>>64831550Quick and dirty shop.>Hanger for handguard could be attached to the now "double tree">Rear sight is the hole in the bolt carrier where the recoil guide rod used to live and doubles as a charging handle>Split the recoil spring guide rod into two parts and place above the receiver rails on the left and right side
>tfw learning the 3 lug was never actually used as a suppressor mount until civilian aftermarket 50 years later
>>64832563>HK adds the 3 lug in 1966>3 lug suppressor adapter patented by KAC in 1988>1988-1966 = 50????
