We have piston AR's, why don't we have direct impingement AK's?
we do
and just like that I answer your stupid fucking engagement baiting question.
>>64832962>>64832945How is the Daewoo an AK exactly?
>>64832938Long stroke gas pistons are direct impingement if you really think about it
>>64832985
>>64833010If the only thing AK about it is the long stroke piston, then a DI Daewoo is nothing like an AK, is it?
>>64833010this isn't "DI"
>>64832945>>64832962piston ar NOT di aktry again
>>64832938Does the CMMG Mutant not count?
>>64832938there's no market. AK ammo isnt super cheap anymore. DI is lighter and more accurate but not reliable in SBRs or with suppressors so companies made DI ARs so you can keep the AR ecosystem but suppress and SBR it
>>64833167>The 5.56mm K1A assault rifle / carbine is a gas operated weapon. It uses Stoner-type direct impingement gas system, where the powder gases are feed through a stainless steel tube from the barrel into the hollow cavity inside the bolt carrier, as in an M16 or AR-15.>https://modernfirearms.net/en/assault-rifles/south-korea-assault-rifles/daewoo-k1a-2/no it's not. try again.
>>64833576its still a ar bolt and going by >>64833010it just has a ak gas piston.go its either a piston ar or a di ar. neither of those is a di ak.try again
>>64832945That gun is so similar to the AR-15 that it might as well be one you retard. The single feature it shares with the AK is the charging handle placement and even then it's structurally different. The K2 also has a different operating system and even then it's more AR than AK.
Easy answer is a piston is simpler to make than a stoner gas system and the benefits of the stoner gas system are only realized in the m16. Once you get the stock out of line with the recoil, or start fucking with gas port size, location, and dwell time it's drawbacks start outweighing the benefits.
>>64833766the K2 is long stroke, the K1 is di.
