>>64836899You can't quickly toss a launched grenade around a corner or into a room without either running afoul of the minimum arming distance or nailing yourself with shrapnel. Go look at Ukrainian CQC footage - a lot of it consists of suppressing doorways and corners with rifle fire, and then tossing grenades in and continuing to suppress until those grenades go off. These sorts of tactics simply don't work with a grenade launcher.

The M67 produces a fragmentation threat in open terrain up to 240 meters, 40mm HE up to 130 meters.40mm is recognized as causing more casualties because it is commonly detonating above the ground - ie into the back wall of a room through a window, or into a tree in a forested environment sending secondary shrapnel everywhere, as opposed to a frag going off in the same environment on the ground, and the trees absorbing shrapnel and force.There are also hand grenades that are designed to bounce and detonate in mid air like a bouncing betty as well as offensive impact detonation grenades - ie chuck it into a window it explodes against the back wall.40mm also the effect of kicking up directional secondaries when it lands on open ground like rocks, this is not as pronounced with a hand grenade
