Cocobolo comes from an exploited, endangered species. I WILL be reporting ALL pictures of commercially produced cocobolo to Interpol, in adherence with the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, Appendix III.

Depends on purpose. Looking nice? Range toy? Or because carrying a .45 ACP is your fucking birthright that these fucking liberal faggots are trying to take away

I like this thing and fondle it every day, but I don’t carry it since I prefer more modern beaver tails and sights. Also trigger guard undercut and beavertail radius preferences are a thing.

Budget? Used Wilson Combats dip below 2k every once in a while. A 5 inch .45 Wilson combat that you got for ~2k is probably the pinnacle of price to performance of guns.

White/red oak are really hard, but brittle. They're used more for flooring and joists and whatnot. If you want to load wood repeatedly, like in an axe handle, you typically use something like hickory or ash or yew.
Also, woods like walnut are used in gun stocks primarily because their grain is nice looking, not for mechanical reasons. Oak isn't as nice looking as walnut.
>>
>>64850483
Also I got this classic Colt 1978 for 800 bucks off gunbroker, it was worked over by some unknown gunsmith (no paperwork) but it has a tight fitted Barsto barrel and crisp trigger

Very little reason to buy new 1911s when used ones exist and may have some great wear on the finish

>>
>>64850647
That's an NFA bootyhole game, it's not a handgun. """""pistol braces""""" are shitty stocks that we use to avoid NFA paperwork. There are probably 10 or 15 people on the entire planet that use """""pistol braces""""" as pistol braces.
>>
>>64850657
Gotta agree with this. Just because my 12" AR is legally a pistol with a brace doesn't make it actually a pistol, it's just categorized that way because our laws are written by scumbags.
>>
>>64850657
okay fine, then my favorite to shoot is my own person 10mm predator. I had answered the gun I want most to shoot again which is that MP5SD w/ FRT.

For the PREDATOR. The return to zero on it is crazy, the beavertail is perfect, the herrett cocobolo grips I have on it are the perfect width, the rollmark is aggressive to the point i legitimately worry about carrying it, the DLC is a perfect gray shine, the Harrison Design DLC coated smooth trigger with a fixed overtravel stop is perfect (discontinued now). Literally everything is perfect on it.

except it doesn't fucking work and keeps engaging the slide stop when cycling. the thing shoots so well I put up with it. Putting down .2 splits with 10mm is easy. I'm trying to get a good video on me doing a sub 2s bill drill with it eventually. My draw with it is around 1.3s since drawing a 5 inch gun out of my pants takes a little longer than a 3.5 inch.

Honestly, one that looks normal and is known for reliability would suffice. The prices on them just never cease to amaze me for a gun from 115 years ago.

I like your collection of 1911s a lot, I'm not into them enough right now to justify spending several thousand, but a Quantico Hicap is on my list for this year or next, provided I don't have any unexpected major home expenses again.

Anyway, sounds like a simple problem to fix, slide stop spring is weak or something. Would be miffed if I had an issue like that with a $4,000 gun.

If you have no qualms about a Turkish 1911 then Tisas is a good bet. They have a few models, the Enhanced Duty is one that I always look at since it has features well above it's price range like fiber optic sights, checkered front strap (rare on a 600 dollar gun). If you want something pretty and also traditional looking then the Springfield Garrison has a beautiful blued finish, I've seen a few anons with them. One guy had his bluing rust, I don't remember how he stored it.

I like the Raider since it's a clone of the M45A1, I had a MAC (they are also Tisas) JSOC 1911 that's the clone of the ones carried at delta, it was good and reliable EXCEPT when you tried to feed it 8 rounds of JHP, it would work from a 7 round mag but not a 8. Not a big deal for a range gun but I bought it to carry. They also make the MEUSOC which is a clone of the first M45.

Les Baer is a "production custom" shop that makes classic 1911s, just this year they started doing optic cuts because that's how old school they are. Used Les Baers are around 2k, sometimes 1.5k.

personally the one i have my eye on since shopping for guns is a hobby

This one is special, a 1942 Colt GI WW2 1911 that somebody sent to clark custom. Has the classic colt rollmark with the original patent dates. If you want something really special, it's both a WW2 relic and has all the classic upgrades 1911s saw before modern day novaks and beavertails.
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1155167341

If you want a GI spec 1911 then Tisas has one for 300 dollars. Can't beat that price.

Tisas > RIA in my opinion

>>64850713
It's been back twice, it's not super simple since the slide stop does see the forces from recoil since it retains the barrel link. I had it with another gun that they fixed and the gunsmith adjusted the lower barrel lugs. It honestly should be a headache but I like it too much. My DW 10mm does it

Can anyone spot anything particularly wrong with this Single Action army at a glance? I’m tempted to just go ahead and snag it since apparently I can return it within 3 days. I’m assuming the finish isn’t original. Something about the figment of the right grip is throwing me off too. The seller took the most dogshit pictures they could.

I have issues since 1911s should be American. Or Japanese if they suddenly started making custom 1911s with a master katana builder motif.
>>
>>64850896
Americans charge a lot of money for a 115yr old gun that doesn't even have to be imported, though. I get labor costs and all that, but shouldn't there be more dirt cheap but still work options like ARs by now?
>>
>>64850920
There's plenty of plastic frame striker guns that fit that description. The reliability of a US made striker gun for 500 bucks is going to blow most 1911s out of the water anyways.
>>

You don't get an opinion faggot you can not shoot. It's cringe to see the disparity. You are doing so many things with finger pressure at once it's like a ouija board. A lot of the parts weren’t designed for mass production, cast or MIM parts are in a lot of cheap guns and they fail over time. People demand quality machined from stock parts and those are 2x-3x the price of MIM/cast parts alone. 1911s already cost more than polymer guns in the price of parts alone before you start fitting them all. Barrels, slides, slide stops, safeties, grip safeties all have to be fit and blended. People pay a lot of money because they want perfection, the lower/mid market is full of production guns where people don’t care about that.

I don’t know how Tisas does it so cheap other than their metal is very soft. They don’t blend the beavertail that well, one of mine’s extractor wasn’t tuned right, one of the slide was very tight and another the slide rattled.

Someone will talk about how their tisas doesn't feed hollowpoints great or has an occasional cycling issue, and that's it. When you spend $4,000+ on a custom tuned version of a 115 year old design that is also available for $300 from the roaches it should function flawlessly, not malfunction just as often.

Also my Wilson Combat Elite Professional in .45 ACP has never let me down except one malfunction right after I optic cut it with PMC .45 JHP and a chip mag, I think it was the super short PMC JHP and the chip mag that did it.

I have bought 4 Tisas.
Raider. didn't like 10 round mags, never tried that much JHP out of it before giving it away.
Tanker Commander 9mm, couldn't extract every 4th mag out of the box.
Yukon 10mm. Couldn't feed reliably.
MAC JSOC. Couldn't feed JHPs out of 8 round mag. No matter how much extractor tuning, different mags. different JHPs, I couldn't get it to work.

Of the Tisas the Raider was the only once I'd say is just as good. The others all had slight fitting issues with the beavertails since they don't fit them at all, they machine them over cut so they drop in.

I don't know who you're talking about but the guy I'm talking about posted right here:

>What’s your personal experience with your 1911s?
My experience with them is not relevant. There's nothing available in DS that I'd want for a price range I'll spend any time soon and the only single stack 1911s I'd want:
>WW2/prewar era blued A1
>classic stainless Colt
>AMT hardballer
are megaboomer priced or cool looking but junk.
Because of this I've never owned one, I've used my father's Wilson Combat and those of a couple of friends (Kimber, Wilson Combat, Springfield) and I love how they look and shoot but the ones I want are either the historically significant or the cool but not really trustworthy. Don't want a $300 Tisas that looks kinda like an old GI gun, don't want a modern double stack that has a bunch of competition style serrations.

You should buy a 1911 and then be subjected to all the 1911isms like as I have.
>muh JHPs won't feed
>extractor issues
>feeding issues
>premature slide stop engagement (mainly a 10mm 1911 issue due to the recoil forces involved)
>picky about magazines
>etc

You can buy a P220 instead. Or be like my dad and have a S&W 645, 4506 and 4516, since they're "better" than 1911s.

I won't. Yeah, I know front serrations go way back (pic). I don't like em. Simple as.

The series 70 you posted there is as modern as would I want to get looks wise and that's hard to come by in the second hand premium double stack market. Everything is tacticooled out. I would have purchased a Platypus but they do not plan to ever offer a more classic style of serration. So I'm going to keep trolling for deals that are what I want.

There is no production 1911 that you can expect to work reliably out of the box. They can come like that, but only if you're lucky. Any 1911 that isn't custom made for you should be assumed to be a project gun.

the mecgar 18 rounders are a slightly wider and more efficient body + better follower and spring design. Beretta's 17/18 rounder is where they just made the tube longer.

Mecgar 18 rounders will work in all fullsize 92s. Beretta's 17/18 rounder also works in all fullsize 92s.

How is it? I'm personally more interested in the P38s or C96s but I get why the Luger is popular

I think thats pretty neat for a 9mm handgun.
Also the Beretta 92FS is also "giant and heavy" for some people
>>
>>64852292
The P320 just eclipsed it so hard and the historical value or whatnot is stronger with the P220 in a cooler caliber.

The P320 aftermarket is too exotic and diverse to make the P226 appealing still
>>
>>64852293
But doesn't the P320 have a lot of issues?
I have a P320 in the form of an M17 and personally I don't know if it's trustworthy for carrying OWB

The timing is fucked. A properly timed Colt SAA won't have that canyon of a turn line on the cylinder. In fact, there won't be a turn line at all. And there's a shrinking number of people out there know how to fix them. So if that thing wasn't owned by Wyatt Earp or Doc Holliday, it's not worth $2300.
>>
>>64852326
you know this is an original because the OG poster of this is extremely self concious about his tiny pencil thin wrists. He'll unfasten his poorly fitting gloves or crop out his wrists or even point the gun down so his wrists wont strain to hold the gun as much. Its really funny when you notice it.

I used to think rifles were cool but 95% of the shooting you get to do with them is point blank or maybe you get to shoot steel targets at a solid distance and have a vague idea of your accuracy. That or its a bunch of benchlarping where you get people making NODs/doorkicker setups and are sitting down to shoot at 100-200 meters so they can take some pics of tight groups for bragging. If you think the people here fudging their distances by a few feet is bad you should see how awful the lying is with rifles.

My problem with rifles is that you absolutely cannot have fun with them in any fucking way possible
I swear to God I wanted to shoot the goddamn RSO so badly.
Like fuck off and let me shoot my rifle like it's fucking supposed to be and let me shoulder it at 25 yards you fuck sticks.
You shitbags are why outdoor ranges suck unless it's unsupervised which brings its own set of problems.
This is why I want my own private property since I don't want to move to the fucking left coast or waste resources moving to the least authoritarian rocky mountain state with BLM land.
Fuck you RSOs, you're not heroes, just a bunch of karens with fucking facial hair and arthritis

The buying your own land doesn't work. You'll spend a decade (I did). Stacking and building the perfect range for yourself. You have parties out there, you practice everyday, you start criticizing and judging others shooting and grips, and rightfully so. They are less than you, they have to pay someone else to watch them shoot. But then they sell the land behind your range to some mexicans and you cant shoot anymore. They clear cut and level the land behind yours.
>>
>>64853002
There are unfortunately quite a few megafudd outdoor ranges where you are only allowed to shoot from a rest or bipod. They're pretty much only good for zeroing your rifle.

>>64852967
It is becoming increasingly hard to find land you can shoot on because of development and skyrocketing property values. My family had some land in FL that used to be usable for shooting, it was big enough that my dad and I had considered clear cutting and leveling for a small private strip back when I had just gone in on partial ownership on a plane. Then the orange groves and nearby farms started getting sold to developers. Now there's a 55+ gated community "next door" (1/4mi or so from the property line) and "down range" sold a couple of years ago and is supposedly going to be a bunch of townhouses. While it may still be legal to shoot there, unless the "no shooting in city limits" ordinance now covers that land, there's no way you could do it without invoking the wrath of a bunch of retirees who have nothing but time and money to make your life hell with lawyers.
>but anon that land must have been worth a lot go buy some more elswhere
Where? In the middle of the frozen expanses of the north or the sweltering desert where neither my dad nor myself want to live? Somewhere in the south that will be in the same situation in 5 years? Trust me, we've talked about it, it is legit hard to find a good place.

If it was hard then the drop would be much more significant. The article you're referring to says the rate is 33%, down from 47% FYI. Which is correlated with delays in many other developmental milestones over the past couple decades. Nothing to do with housing specifically really.

It's not the "economy" per se, it's the fact that visa workers and immigrants through sheer numbers are providing downward pressure on wages and upward pressure on housing and medical costs, plus the shift toward treating homes as investments including organizational ownership of single family homes has also caused some price inflation.

None of this will ever be fixed because boomer wealth is disproportionately in property and homes, so it's political suicide for any government official to do anything that might lower the meteoric trajectory of home prices or even worse cause them to fall.

Theoretically you can buy a Tisas GI model for 300 dollars, a frame for 350 from JEM with a standard .45 ramp, and a prodigy grip module for 50-75 dollars. And have it done under 1000.

I've thought about it. Just don't know if a high end 1911 is a good first build. I'm more than likely capable of because I have been an hobbyist engine builder and fabricator for going on 20 years but the closest I get to tight tolerance fitting like rails and slots is building a wankel engine and fitting the side and corner seals. Ideally it would be a 9mm because I rarely shoot my .45s due to the nearly 2x ammo cost difference over 9mm.

Yeah, but tech jobs dying doesn't mean indians are going away. Once they put down a 7/11, indian family is already quite survivable, since they are both in the know about how things work with lower castes, and at the same time have a protected minority status. And once they upgrade to a motel, only danger is that their kids could troon out if they aren't allowed to beat them and arrange marriages.

Should I zero my red dot to 15 yards or 25?
>>

7, then shoot at 25 to adjust vertically.

You ideally want a 25 yard zero but zeroing at 25 for most handgun shooters is a crap shoot. So I recommend a tight 7 yard grouping and then shooting at distance to adjust vertically.

Also depends on purpose. If it’s a conception gun and you’ll never shoot past 10 yards in your local steel challenge then do a 10 yard zero

>>
>>64854729
Nobody fucking cares about Epstein bro, being “anti pedo” is not a political platform that will win. The majority of people do not care about the files. I don’t like them, I want them all hunted down and killed, but the Epstein files is optical suicide. There is nothing in the files that can incriminate anyone. Either because
1. They didn’t exist in the first place
2. The pedophiles covered their tracks and deleted the files. The chain of custody of the material is not air tight. The FBI and DOJ cannot be trusted.
There is nothing in the files that will satisfy the mythology the theater kid right believe. Its capeshit. There is no smoking gun in the files.

I believe a mixture of two. It’s not a platform that will win, you can’t start witching hunting pedos off hearsay. What will win is
>fighting illegal immigration
>blowing up drug runners
>bringing back American manufacturing and jobs

How about instead of wishing to be put into a gulag and killed before it has even happened, how about talking about all the reasons to vote for the party that’s NOT the kill all white people party? Under Trump’s first administration Epstein was arrested. Trump also massively increased the size of child abuse taskforces in the DOJ and FBI.

Stop fucking black pilling. Liberals are literally getting shot in the face by RWDS and polling doesn’t shift at all. There is no huge BLM movement like 2020, the left is losing on this issue.
