Army HPSP here, happy to answer questions about what its like getting medical school through the military. Dental and vet are pretty much the same.

A few threads back, he sperged out, got really sad, and broke character. Basically said something to the effect of “My constant, gay, retarded trolling doesn’t matter because my shit life will suck no matter what.” Maybe somebody can link it.

I guess he actually expected sympathy or something after wasting 10 years of his life being a lolcow on an irrelevant forum. At least Chris Chan got famous.

Anyways, we continued reminding he’s a retard, and he’s sperging even harder now.

Yes, my language is a bit wishy washy, I'll admit. Every year in, even enlisted, is still another one towards the 20 year mark. The four year mark seems apt to aim for for the O1E pay, rather than O1 pay, but this wasn't the topic I intended to get into.

Rigidity makes organizations brittle and discourages self-correction.
>>
>>64875577
It would be welcome to have criticism from people who served, but it would be foolish to disregard years of pattern recognition that has clearly demonstrated the following
1. There is one very upset loser in Illinois that spends every day ranting on /meg/
2. That very upset loser always complains that "everyone thinks its just one person complaining"

With those two facts in mind, surely you understand why you are being referred to as Robert. The last guy to complain here who actually was a different person was never, and I mean NEVER, confused for Robert. One has to wonder why that is...

Did you have specific goals going in? E.g. a qual, training, school, or type of work (sar/le/prevention..) you wanted to experience?

>>
>>64876269

>Are the barracks still packed?
hell yeah, see the recent barracks town hall by the 25ID and USAGHI command teams. the tl;dr is that they are trying to get more space but for the near future (~1 year ish) they have a waiver from HQDA to potentially house soldiers doubled up in barracks room.
>How long are renovations going to last?
hard to forecast, the barracks/housing situation is murky because there are multiple layers to it, especially in Hawaii where space is already at a premium.
>Am I going to be bunking with NCOs as a junior?
probably not unless shit gets really bad, all units try to prevent that kind of thing. senior E4 with a junior E5 is possible but that's another thing.
By no means should you let this discourage you from showing up here. IMO Hawaii is the best duty station for a young infantryman (or, I might add, intel guy) right now and the unit culture is really good. Show up hungry, ask for Jungle or Air Assault, get your ESB, you'll have a great time.
>>
>>64876299
Please refer to the first line in my post. This will not be repeated.
>>
>>64876302
oh one more thing, if you go to a unit that is not 25ID the barracks situation is very different.
>>
>>64876302
Thanks for the reply, that was fast. Anything specific why it's good for intel?
>>64876312
So if I show up to the 500th MI Brigade as an intel guy is it better or worse than the barracks for 25ID?
>>
>>64876304
Not me, but what you said applies.
>>
>>64876322
Better. Most units besides 25ID have separate barracks or different housing rules, particularly those stationed on Fort Shafter or elsewhere.
It's great for intel because basically everything interesting in the Pacific Theater happens here. You could work at INDOPACOM, at USARPAC, at one of the intel units on island, even just in 25ID's intel units and do some cool stuff. There's a lot of opportunity for training as well because there are both tactical and strategic intel units located here.

>>
>>64876353
Good luck, hopefully you get it. It's hard for me to say which unit you would go to since basically everyone with any kind of MI system uses tangos.
Huachuca isn't horrible, as far as AIT bases go. Don't get in trouble do not fucking drink if underage (or at all idk if anyone in AIT there ever gets to), do go to the gym, do go hiking and go out to do things instead of rotting in your room.
>>
>>64876251
Marines are a harder institution in terms of bullshit. Army has more mediocrity when it doesn't matter, and when it does matter, they're really fucking hard.

Like you'll be told you can't leave base wearing certain civilian clothes in the marines. Army will leave you alone once they realize you're not a dumbass private.
>>
>>64876273
The enlisted would be in prison if they didn't have the military, and they deserve to be there
>>
>>64876273
The AF knows they will always have more recruits than they need so they don't feel the need to bend over for recruits. Just keep bugging their office by phone and email and go in person if needed.
>>
>>64876370
One last thing, am I fucked if I want to go to Jungle school or are they handing slots out like candy?
>>
>>64876390
Nope! It is true that there are limited slots per unit, but in practice this just means you work with your S3/schools NCO to lock in a school date and as long as your PT score is good/you're not a shitbag/etc you'll get it. I'm in a POG-ass MI unit and people go to Jungle all the time, and I'm going myself later this year.

Lol, what the fuck are you talking about? You only need 10 years minimum as an O to reach O retirement. If the ultimate goal is officer, then enlisted is not “wasted time.” 6+ years enlisted also totally flips the officer promotion schedule around. By the time you’re going up for O-5 (the first actually competitive rank), you’re already retiring. Officers get stuck in the Kool-Aid, brown nosing Olympics because of up-or-out. Mustang officers are insulated from that fuck shit.

My goal last year when I got in was to do 20, go BM and be a badass pursuit coxswain for 10 years, then go chief or officer for the next 10. I found out very quickly at my unit that I am very poorly cut out for the station life and the physicality of the work. I already don't trust myself to be able to do my job well when that SAR alarm goes off, which is why I'm considering the admin role, where I know I'll be able to at least be capable of getting the job done.

I always saw them as roidcel (or wannabe roidcel) dudebros with dumb standards and thats what put me off from the military as a whole.
That and the vax requirement but luckily they got rid of that really quick. If I joined when I was 18 I would have 100% refused the vax and get kicked out.

It’s virtually always Robert. He says shit that doesn’t make sense. Also, who else would come to “Military Enlistment General” to bitch about the military and the Covid vaccine (which hasn’t mattered for 5 years now). Someone who hates the military just wouldn’t read this general. Except for Robert.

In this thread, Robert is shitting on the Marines, hoping it will get under someone’s skin. Which is stupid, because, for last 5 years, once of the consistent pieces of advice this board says is that you should NOT join the Marines. It used to be apart of the thread template.
>>
>>64878125
The Marine Corps actively pisses me off because my dumbass got tricked by their "we're the best" BS. I broke my leg in 2011 and I disclosed it to them and they just kicked me out of their office (I guess they didn't want to grant a waiver for that) and I just figured that was the end of that and no military for me
Fucking could have got half my retirement done before the vax, used the GI bill during the mandate years, then got commissioned in 2024 if I wasn't a dumbass as a teen. Would have likely even seen the sandbox a bit.

Instead of retiring at 41 as an O-4 I'll potentially be retiring at 52 and have to make the O-5 cut. Sucks to suck, but Covid's lockdowns killed my business and I didn't have resources to start from scratch again and have mouths to feed. >Could've should've would've
Bad mindset to have honestly. I could have gotten a full contract done before COVID too, doesn't mean I would have foreseen the vax mandate soon enough to not reenlist.
Pre and mid pandemic were some of the worst times to find a job and a place to live as well. So you would have been most likely out on your ass with no promise of employment for the foreseeable future (5 months - 1 year+).
I was going to school during the pandemic instead and it was dogshit. I ended up NEETing for a good 6 months and put off signing up for classes.
Almost anything you could have done, would have been soiled by the pandemic hysteria. It was for me and a lot of people I knew.
Had you not already been established into a professional career, it was pretty much a forced vacation come around pandemic time. Anyone who was still working was only "make working" because it was so fucking slow and there was nothing to do except door dash and deliver packages.
That being said, you made it out ok, even if you have to fight for O-5 in the future.

So help me get this straight Rodger, the recruiters are not here to recruit, not contacting anyone from 4chan, but they are running a thread on 4chan to troll and give bad advice about joining the military.
I thought their job was to recruit?
Doesnt that dissuade people from joining the military, the opposite of their job and isn't that against some sort of code?

Yes, but under the guise of it being good advice. (That's if anyone here is even a real recruiter, anyway.)
>I thought their job was to recruit?
Yes, but that tells you how good they are at their job.
>Doesnt that dissuade people from joining the military, the opposite of their job
Probably.
>and isn't that against some sort of code?
If being bad at your job is actually and explicitly "against code", then I guess so.

ETN1(SW) Shitass back at it. If you ask me about life in other branches, Imma blow your mind with this: I haven't been in other branches. How does AF enlisted compare to Navy Officer? My brother, what's crazy is I have been neither. Use your head, bozo. Answering Navy/Nuke questions.

Lightning round:
>Is being a nuke that bad
Only if you're 2 of these 3: Dumb, Lazy, weird. You can be one of those, though
>Do you get big bonuses
Uncle Sam gave me $40k to drop out, $68 to reenlist, and $120K to do it again
>What is the work like
Dogwater, long, miserable, boring watches where you must maintain 100% focus at numbers that don't change for 5-8 hours at a clip. You go to the boat a day before underway to startup and you leave a day after pull in to shut down. You never have a liberty rotation greater than 5 section (every 5th day is a 24hr workday. Typical is 3 section, though I've seen port/stbd)
>Are nukes weird
Yes, but if you're posting on /k/ asking for advice, you are throwing glass at stone homes here buddy
>I got a XX on my ASVAB...
I know nuke waste with 99 ASVABS, I know the best nukes I've ever met with 78s, It's kinda a gamble. The biggest indicator of success is if it interests you. If you don't care about nuclear power, don't be a nuke, simple 'as.
>I have a degree, should I enlist?
No.
>Surface or subs
I qualified on a Sub and then went surface. Subs are EXTREMELY tight knit, demanding, and small. Surface is more like a city. I liken it to civilization. on a sub, there aren't enough people, so everyone is a hunter gatherer. Everyone knows something about everything, but at the cost of few genuine SME. On the surface, there are so many people, an individual can specialize in having AUTISTIC knowledge of a single system as there are a dozen other people to do the surface level knowledge. My Power Ranger ability was Reactor Theory and the Computer Network.

Why does the Navy (well I don't know anything about the Coast Guard, so maybe them too) use their rate/MOS/AFSC/job/whatever as their rank? Every time I've asked a Sailor their rank (which has been very few times to be fair) the conversation is like
>Hey Sailor, I'm not sure what rank that is, I apologize, that's my bad

Yeah that's not good enough for fact checking because LLM based AI hallucinates information and can draw false conclusions.
Google AI is horrible because it takes your search terms into account as well as the search results. So if you are asking it loaded questions and the results positively answer them, it will scrape that and tell you what you want to hear even if it's not fully true.
It would be better if you had a link, but linking stuff in 2015+11 is effort posting and you dont do that.

Because of your babbling you led me to searching about Genesis and MEPS.
I found a related plebbit link that was actually very interesting.
MHS Genesis uses a cohort of interconnected medical databases that bypass hippa.
Good thing you can just avoid it through opting out.
Genesis is supposed to roadblock you from joining the military and it's not even good at that. If you are slightly not lazy and determined to get in, you can avoid it entirely.

Not sure why my recruiters are saying I can get a waiver, despite what this says. But I'd rather take their word and hold it against them until it gets to the point where they lock me out of the building if they're lying, just so I can complain to everyone how terrible they were. Ahh, the glory of free-speech... They're supposed to know more than me, so what do I know if this source (and half the internet) is wrong?...

If my first recruiter had filled this out correctly, I was told MEPS would've disqualified me before ever scheduling a physical anyway:

>Good thing you can just avoid it through opting out.
Damn, that's probably not possible for me to do now since MEPS has already DQ'd me...

Question:
If I try again at a different MEPS, would they take me seriously there instead? Like, let's say a MEPS had royally fucked up, slandered me, y'know, whatever. (I'm not saying this is or isn't what happened in my case.) But would another MEPS reconsider me despite whatever is already in their computer system about me?

Is the Navy still styled after English nobility culture where the aristocrat officers live and dine away from the enlisted peasants? Do they still not do team activities to foster a sense of brotherhood and inclusion? First time in a USMC galley chow hall I saw a full bird Colonel standing in the same line for food. Made me understand why the Marines try so hard to be considered independent from the Navy, talking with Marines it's pretty much to preserve their much more American command culture.

The rating/NEC system is a little complicated but genuinely very utilitarian. For us, our rate (MOS) and Rank (paygrade) are linked. For example, I'm ETN1 shitass, thats Electronics Technician Nuclear (Rate) First Class (PO1/E6). This is useful, as when I speak to somebody, it immediately tells me their job and relative expertise. On top of that, we have Navy Enlisted Codes (NECs) which delineate within a rating/division. For example, my primary NEC is N23S, meaning it's Nuclear (N), I'm a surface sailor (2), I'm an ET (3), and I'm a supervisor (S). NECs are only backend, nobody calls somebody by their NEC. All surface Nuke ETs are N23O or N23S based on seniority. In order to be eligible for E7, I need the N33Z NEC, which is based on a qualification. Because I have that qual and an EP eval, I'm eligible to make E7 at 6 years, but another ETN1 without it at 19 years is not.

Once you understand it it's a very good system. Every marine is a rifleman, but not every sailor is a SAILOR. I have no need to know how to tie 20 knots off the top of my head, but BM3 does. This allows BM3 and ETN1 to immediately know the other person's skillsets.

Hi fellas. I'm a scientist, and a friend i have in the military asked if i wanted to join a non listed military laboratory position. Naturally that sounded fucking fascinating, so i said yes. I have been to 3 rounds of interviews from non formal to formal. The last round, and interview with the colonel is coming up soon. It really seems like i'm getting the job.
I'm going to have to do basic training and officers training, i'll start as a liutenant.
Though it is a lab job, we do have to be combat ready (or whatever it's called, i know fuck all about the terminology), i'll have to do some kind of physical exam and shooting exam once every few months, as well as some specialized shit i'd rather not say.
My question is... what should i expect? I'm not a fat fuck, but i have not been doing any sports for like 2 years since my kid was born. How fucked am i? Also, how much am i going to get fucked with in basic for not being just some average joe but starting as a liutenant and being a scientist?

I'm in the background check stage of Border Patrol, but i'm concerned about the political establishment changing in the US back to Biden era "hand out water bottles to any cartel rapist who crosses the border mode" So I'm thinking of abandoning that and just joining the Coast Guard instead. Would this be ill advised?

No, but you would never believe so.

Yes, if for no other reason than specifically to spite you and make you cringe.

>Do you have any ide the kinds of shit i have saved from /k/?
I do now.

>This isn't random gore, it's just medical stuff.
Attention grabbing medical stuff, I'll give you that.

>/sci/ is also a blue board, and no one ever complains about this kind of thing there. I honestly never expected /k/ to be bothered.
I think they're supposed to, but /k/ is just retarded enough to not care. I always thought this board had the worst community anyway.
>and then everyone rages at this

>To think there would be more pussies here than /sci/... and that's a low bar to begin with.
If we wanna talk about low, try posting gore on /mlp/. I can't decide if it would be worse if we had a furry board and someone posted gore there.

I'm currently an EMT and I've been looking at the military as an option to pay for further schooling. I'm young and I want to frontload my education as quickly as possible. I want to get my paramedic next and nursing right after that, all the way up to a doctorate if possible. I know I'm going to be away from family and shit, and I don't care if I don't get to do anything cool or see the world etc. However, I am a religious pacifist (Desmond Doss is my hero), and I know you don't get complete control over what you do in the military, so I'm a bit worried about being forced into a combat role or something if WW3 breaks out or some shit. I'm not against treating anyone or anything like that, I just don't want to hurt people. So my questions are:
Is joining the military solely to pay for schooling a good idea?
What branch would be the best for someone like me?
Am I right to worry about being given a combat role/Is there any way to guarantee it doesn't happen?
Will the military pay for both paramedic and nursing?
How much schooling will the military pay for, and how much will they pay?
And of course, if there's anything else I should know, I'm happy to hear it.

Yeah, gore gets posted everywhere by shitposters and occasionally, in this case, a guy posting stuff presumably related to his job being that he works in labs and all. But what other board on this entire site would react to it like satanic panic grandmas and DnD in the 80s? You know how every other board would react to it? They'd ignore it. It wouldn't get a single (You) involving the pic outside of people curious about what it is, or people just replying to the content of the message. I genuinely wonder about what kind of person you could be, what kind of life you've lived that you're taking literal basic everyday shit like that this far.
>>

Cyber Warfare Officer (17A) here. I have the inside scoop on all things Cyber.
First off you got your Cyber Operations Specialists (17C). They handle stuff like hacking into Russian FSB databases in "Capture the Flag" missions. This usually involves hacking the mainframe, copy+pasting proof of hosted CP before deleting it from Russian servers and getting out before Ivan notices his collection is gone.
Sometimes things get really dicey when they're hacking the mainframe though and inbetween bathroom breaks their computer chairs get stained with a sticky white substance. Crucially, this always seems to happen right before the cyber soldier leaves his chair. Cause yet to be discovered. Higher ups suspect this is an undiscovered North Korean superweapon used as a countermeasure when we step too far into the eastern cyberhemisphere.
Second, we have Cyber Operations Technicians (170A) on the Warrant side of things. These are the finest subject experts on everything Cyber. When we're conducting Penetration Testing (Pen Testing) on Iranian schools you better believe cyberchief is catching those IRGC "script kiddies" with their pants down. When we're conducting special missions beyond the Great Firewall, our cyber Warrant is the first man in the cyberspace to "inject" his "code" where it can reach as many Chinese children working for the CCP as possible.
Third. You have me. Cyber Operations Officer (17A). There is not a single "Man in The Middle" between me and the enemy. I am in charge of every 10th "Birthday Attack" by our Platoon. I am the Platoon's eyes, ears, dick, and balls. When our Platoon conducts a successful cyberraid "Eavesdropping Attack" on cyberal-quaida, thats me. I am the Epstein of this operation if you catch my drift.
Lastly pic rel. Highly classified. We do not ever talk about pic rel.

Man, one of my teachers kept a catalog of gore photos of his patients and somehow no one told him off for it. He literally admitted to telling them "Oh, it's for the doctor" when taking the photos, but would show them off to coworkers and my other teacher. Showing them to us was fine, it doesn't get more "for educational purposes" than that, but he was lying to his patients about it. I almost reported him but the other teacher was the owner of the service we did clinicals at and didn't care, so I figured it wouldn't do any good.

I gotta say, my career has felt super rewarding since I became a mid-level NCO. Enough authority, experience, and connections to get stuff done and make opportunities and awards happen for my soldiers, still too low ranking to be pulled into the senior NCO admin grind or battalion and above staff nonsense. I know it can't last but I almost wish it could.

E-5 is one of the best ranks. The enlisted promotions become quickly less worthwhile after that. E-6 is still kinda coolio. Kind of a toss-up whether E-7 is worth it. E-8/E-9 are the dark ages. They taint your very soul.

E-5/E-6 is a great time to commission/go warrant though. Start over, like prestiging in COD. Hit retirement before you approach the shitty ranks again.

Whats stopping the military from fully merging the missle commands, geospatial, etc, of other branches into space force?
The whole purpose of the Space Force was to create a supporting command structure to the rest of the military that was economically viable.
Space Force has 0 reason not to expand as more theaters open up.
