>Nailed bat
Damages integrity and makes the bat easy to break.
>Razor wire / Barbed Wire
Cushions the bats impact, reducing power
>Bolt studded baseball bat
Probably concentrates the focre on smaller points increasing crushing power? May damage the bats integrity? Can't slide hands to the upper half of the bat.
>Plain bat
May be better than bolt studded possibly?
ARe there versions I missed?

>ARe there versions I missed?
The corked bat, which is drilled out and filled with a less dense material so you can swing it faster.
You could also put a hollow tube down the center of the bat containing a weight or liquid, that way it can slide out to the end of the bat, changing its center of mass as it swings.
You've got metal bats, which may or may not be filled with cement.

I like the Spike bat
similar to the nail bat but with less crit chance and higher crit damage

If you make one with rusty rail spikes you can find nearby train tracks, it'll do additional poison damage over time, in exchange for reduced item durability.
>>
>>64878079
Rust doesn't cause tetanus, sharp things being buried in anaerobic conditions does. You might get an infection from a rusty blade out in the air, but it won't be tetanus
>>
>>64878170
crits and "poison damage" aren't real. Therefore the "ackshually" part doesn't matter.
>>
I'm going with aluminum bat covered with a sock

But did you do it with a wiffle ball bat?

Crits are real.

Anon, we're making role playing game jokes. "Acksually" doesn't matter because everything is automatically understood to be fantasy from the beginning. I can't believe this needs to be explained to you.

nah he's right you're retarded
if crits are real in real life and video games then they are obviously real

Cons

The increased capture rate can be useful, especially if you’re up against people without guns so the extra bullet damage you take won’t matter.

OP here.
I am not actually planning to build a weapon and I know a purpose built weapon like a mace is better than a bat, but I am genuinelly interested in what would be the most effective baseball bat modification version in real life if I ever get into a situation where I need to quickly improv a weapon.

I have some of these bats from Cold Steel.

Bow down baseball bat faggots.

The wrecking bar having one flat end and one nail-claw end. It is forged and hardened to 45 HRc.Overall Length 710 mm

does a lot of damage but it's awkward to swing

Seems like the ergos, weight distribution, and recoil would be worse than any bat.

It also stabs in a thrust from one end and works close in via a punch from the hooked end. It is an incomparibly better weapon.

the stab is its best attack
the swing is telegraphed and you stab yourself in the wrist with the flat end
a rolling head pry bar is the best combat crowbar
>>
>>64878463
It can be used close in and in a space with no room to swing as well. It wins. If that hook hits you are swinging your opponent around by their skull or ribcage. The points are sharp. Let's upgrade.

"Solid Ash Timber
Solid Forged Steel blade
Sharpened blade for effective use
Ring & Bolt construction
Solid Ash timber handle
The Darby slasher is manufactured from high quality forged steel giving greater strength and durability. It's secured to a solid, hi-grade ash timber handle by a single support ring and solid steel nut and bolt. This slash hook has a 36cm long steel blade for great reach and efficiency."

What about covering the bat in lubricant, other than where you're holding it of course, so they can keep trying to grab it when you hit them but it will keep slipping away

>Razor wire / Barbed Wire
>Cushions the bats impact, reducing power
the idea behind the wire (even a plain wire) is the opposite - the wire needs to be wound up tight, so there is obviously no cushioning in this way. and a target hit with one or few strands of a wire gets a higher damage over a smaller area. plus adding metal to the end of a bat makes it more end-heavy, increasing power

I would more concerned about gaining weight than swinging this solid polypropylene monster.
The Crusher and the Basher are my favorites. Even the shorty would do some damage in a small area if needed.
Check some of the youtube videos if interested.
>>
>>64878843
I will probably get the smasher once my current bat breaks. I am quite tall but the whopper is probably more for gigachad bodybuilder types than me.

>The Crusher and the Basher are my favorites.

>>
>>64878413
Put nylons under the sock. They are slick enough the sock shouldn't grab them but a hand would. Extra use without adding extra padding.

I'm not tall but pretty stout.
around 5'5" and currently about 180 lbs.

Got a spare bedroom full of melee weapons like bats, machetes, etc.
The all steel practice bat is dangerous.
Same as regular bat handle but straight all steel construction.
Like a steel pipe with good grip.

this is the right idea. Shorten it to be used with one hand, add some lead at the tip, and you have a medieval archer's maul. You can use your free hand to hold a shield or wield a knife in case you get dissarmed.

Anyone who's ever used a crowbar for serious work would tell you they'd fucking suck as weapons. Literally worse in every way than a sledgehammer, which already sucks.
>>
>>64878205
Came here to mention this.

>>64878513
Might technically work but would need constant reapplication due to the lubes drying out.
The only big advantage is that the attacker might suffer psychological distress realizing that his opponents is a degenerate sex offender and might do god knows what to him.
>>
The weight balance of the crowbar is too poor to swing. It is probably meant to be used statically as a lever.
>>
>>64882970
Crowbar is fucking terrible for a weapon for several reasons.
-the balance sucks, they are much too front-heavy.
-the ones which are light enough to actually swing are too small to grip effectively, the ones that are made of a large enough diameter material that you can get a good grip on them are much too heavy to try and swing.
-they're entirely metal so all the shock is transferred straight into your hands.

>>64880193
Something like that is much better. A wood handled mace that's about the length of your forearm with a weight of maybe 8-16 oz at the end is excellent. A very easy way to DIY one would be to start with a hammer handle and then affix a large nut to the end.
>>
>>64883072
>A very easy way to DIY one would be to start with a hammer handle and then affix a large nut to the end.
what if I affix a hammer to the end of it?
>>
>>64883144
then you'd have a hammer rather than a mace. duh.
>>
>>64878387
This is a good suggestion. A lot of people have no awareness of the spike mace, but that's exactly why they were made, ease of construction.

But personally, what makes the baseball bat work is that it can be used one handed. As soon as it's too heavy to swing with one hand, you've got a real issue. Most thugs prefer a shortened bat and will fight with some kind of buckler, be that a backpack, bike chain, car seat headrest, whatever.
>>
Also, issue with aluminum is that its too light for a one handed club. As you get longer, that's when you want a lighter weapon, a hockey club etc. But a short club really has to be heavy and i don't care what all those rattan fags say. Real fights aren't weight matched, people wear heavy clothing, you don't get points.

>>64878498
But that's a two handed weapon with no point, only one edge, too short to be used as a spear.
>>
>>64883163
>then you'd have a hammer rather than a mace. duh.
Maces were way lighter than tools. I guess you could buy a smaller hammer and put it in a long hande by carving the wood.
>>
>>64883445
>Maces were way lighter than tools
Yes. That's why I recommended something much lighter than a typical hammer head.
What does that have to do with anon's silly question about attaching a hammer to a handle?
>>
>>64878385
I dunno I need to see a grainy 240p video of a boomer smashing sides of meat or using one to jack up a 18 wheeler before I buy one.

>>64878170
I may have been trolled, but I was told that the rusting lead to anaerobic conditions underneath the rust flakes since most of the oxygen in the vicinity was bound to the iron in the form of rust, thus allowing tetanus to survive in the cracks and crevices of the rust surface.
