Would it be worth sending my 92 slide to be optics cut, or should I get like a 92x slide instead? Would rather have something specially built to take a red dot but of course having it cut would be cheaper
>>
>>64878176
Well, an LTT cut is going to be much lower than Beretta's offering. I'd go with sending it out to be cut.
>>
>>64878176
Get a 92FS slide cut means that for RMR and other tall optics you won’t have a BUIS. If you use the EPS or other rmsc low optics you will have a BUIS sight picture but the front sight is way too low but good enough for a back up.

Spare beretta slides are retardedly expensive, more cost effective to just wait for a super cheap 92X. Like right now Battlehawk has 92Xis for 500 (600-100 dollar rebate)
>>
I'd like to apologize to the P320 for slandering it in ignorance. Its so peak.

As for the safety concerns for pusses, its basically a 1911 trigger in a modular platform make of that what you will

is the p365 just as good?

>Glock triggers
I'm talking about the pull weight and physical position of the trigger. Glock 5.5 lb pull is less safe for a beginner than a far-traveling 10+ lb. DA pull
>it has three-safeties
those are all just drop safeties, including the trigger safety, mechanical safeties which prevent the gun from going off on its own, there is nothing to keep the user safe from an accidental pull in presenting, drawing, or re-holstering compared to e.g. a heavy trigger or being able the thumb the hammer

I bought a 92x slide maybe like four/five years ago for 250 im pretty sure. Buying a plate puts it OVER just sending it to langosteen kikensteintical in terms of price, but having a whole ass new slide was more value for me since i had to also convert it from 40sw.
Pic unrelated i took the slide back from my old gun and put it on my current gun.

>I don't think I'll let it get that bad again
Try soaking it (just the barrel) in Hoppes. Pour it into a small zip-lock bag with the barrel. Use a flexible cable pull through 'rod' for brushing. I have a short Otis pistol cable that makes brushing the shit out of a pistol barrel fast. I just keep pulling it from breech to muzzle. I prefer good nylon brushes and a mild solvent. Getting all of the fouling out of a pistol barrel does take a while, so let the chemicals do the work through soaking. Most old guns are just covered in oil soaked dust bunnies and pocket lint.

should've spent more time stroking the copper bore brush. bore patches are just to clean out the suspension of cleaning fluid and carbon. You can honestly rinse it out in the sink if it's really bad, otherwise you are just spreading the dirt around.

>I definitely need to work smarter rather than harder so thank you.
NP. You can also create a plug for the chamber, stand it vertically, and fill the barrel with solvent for a long term soak. Precision rifle shooters have chamber plugs, and bore rods (to fill up space), to do long term soaking rather than endless brushing. The owner of Bartlein Barrels says that he will leave a rifle in his shop for days/week(s) while occasionally running another Hoppes soaked patch down the barrel. The idea being that the chemical doe the work, and it needs time, and larger volume to work as a solvent on the carbon. You could also try solvent in a baggie and drop it in an ultrasonic cleaner. Never tried that, but it might speed things up.

why can't you just put a drop of super glue in it. My 340 has no lock, but my 929 has never had issues locking up. I do not even own a key, but it has no recoil. Honestly the lock would be a useful feature if it counted at a "locked gun" but the law doesnt see it that way.
>>
>>64878462

I agree with this anon >>64878630

Either the P22 or G44 are low $300 pistols that shoot incredibly accurate. If you need a tie breaker, I give it to the P22.
>>
>>64878855
I am that anon and yea the p22 > g44. The g44 is a glock trainer, not a competitive standalone 22lr. Its a lot of fun tho because its like a g19 with recoil turned off. I think a good g17 22lr conversion is probably a better 22.

Also, the P225/239 have been discontinued for years because nobody bought them. Why must you insist on being a weird hipster? The P229 is already an unusual choice in this day and age, why must you go one step weirder?

NTA but 229 is 30% heavier and too large for peak deep concealment

Also it’s 9 shots for parabelum and the size of of a colt 1908/Makarov so perfect for a run and gun. I’m genuinely looking for guns I could do a trail marathon with and swap ammo with a partner so that’s why small, DA/SA capable 9 gun looks good

The 229 has great ergonomics while the modern 320 blows odd dicks. Not hard to look at the da/sa line of guns that was still good.

No it isn't
>weird 320 out of nowhere
literally nobody said he should get a 320, very bizarre that you would bring it up

Trying to concealed carry a very thick DA/SA gun is already pushing it in the year of our lord 2026, trying to carry a thick eight (8) round DA/SA gun that's been discontinued for nearly a decade is actually fucking beyond the pale. At least get a PX4 or a P229 or 92 if you're going to carry a DA/SA.

The only person who would suggest going through with this retarded plan of buying and carrying a P225 is the retard twink (whom I presume to be you), and if that's the case, I'd like to remind you that you shilled shooting one handed for years and got BTFOed by a dozen other anons in last month's challenge.

I eventually settled on Da/SA as ideal
A PPK isn’t ideal for that contest because ammo compatibility and not being meant for long range. The beretta 90 clone made by Mauser is also not great since too heavy and no red dot which seems to be a cheat

Also after testing I found any trigger heavier than 5lbs or too long worsens my performance
Which is why buying a 239 seems good

Is there any carry over from training optic to irons or vice versa?
>>
>>64879482
Get a Px4 Compact, or a P2000, or a P30SK
>those are all more than 450
no shit, they're better guns
You're also going to be paying more for P225/P239 magazines that aren't beat to shit, and if you actually shoot this gun, whatever slight price advantage is there will be erased by ammo expenditure.

You seem to like being obtuse, though, so enjoy trying to carry your Sig from 20 years ago lol.
>>
>>64879504
Depends on how much you train but if you spend hours drawing and dryfiring in front of a mirror, you'll be relying on the same muscle memory. It's not like pro shooters spent more than .2 looking for sight acquisition
>>
>>64879504
You'll learn trigger control and recoil control faster with optics, and that translates to irons. Essentially the only skill that you might develop on irons that doesn't translate to optics shooting is vision related, because with an optic you only ever have to look at the target plane, whereas with irons you need to be able to switch your plane of focus around from target to front sight.

Here's Doug Koenig on that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lfr5QZogWJg
>>
>>64879487
I genuinely considered it. I called it a modernized Makarov and meant that in the best way possible but it’s a little thicc and the sig 239 is cheap because their scandals, weighs an ounce less and is only 1.2 inches wide so it’s closer to a modernized Makarov.
I know on other stats beretta might be better but I’d pay more, and get a slightly less compact gun
If you could just get a parabellum makarov and put a red dot on like you can in stalker I’d do it.
>>
>>64879460
they are nicer than any 226 tho.
>>64879459
you aren't running a 2700, its a self defense gun. The trigger doesnt have to be a glass rod, and even a striker is better than the DA on a the first shot of a da/sa. I guarantee you would get better times on a IDPA course with a canuk than a 226
>>
I haven’t come back to reply to this thread yet since >>64879315
so any other people under are not me
Those are good points about the mags being rare
I was asking about those models because they are pretty similar, with one model replacing the other
I am also not yet looking for the absolute best niche guns for carry yet, but instead ones I can practice with and just get started on
But yeah they are also very niche, I was happy to hear that at first they were apparently slim and simple, and relatively cheap
if they’re still bulky compared to what they could be, I will also still keep looking around
Also I thought that the PX4 compact is also wide for its size?
the slightly more bulky of that and other Sigs might be better for much bigger capacity, however
At the end of the day I will just have to eventually pick something to start shooting and then decide on what I will need
Here just gives me some more ideas to look into
>>
>>64879525
Believe me I’ve rented a striker or two and my accuracy suffers from a +5lb long trigger. I’d be better carrying an SA gun then but I love how you can da safety off and set the trigger lighter by cocking. I’m a revolver guy too so that’s not hard. I shoot my DA/SA on SA when I want accuracy
>>
>>64879525
Also it’s to the point I’m considering buying an m1 carbine replica since I hear those get 1moa, and it’s only 5lbs but still has a better envelope than a pcc

300$ for mine and it’s the most accurate gun in my arsenal.
It’s light, it’s great, it can handle ammo with a power range from 45acp to +p 45 and the recoil isn’t bad if you have rubber grips.
In fact the jolt and snap derivatives of acceleration are forgiving so it’s less snap than 9 and much a shove like 45

First of all, fuck the law. If the law told you to worship Moloch, would you? This is AMERICA, not some third world shithole such as Britain. There is nothing wrong with teaching (white) children safe gun handling at a young age.

>but how do you hide the shotgun
You fucking hide the shotgun. You can hide a handgun in a hollowed out book. You could put it in your toolbox and lock it. You could hide it in your walls or under your floor. You could even program some crazy batman style contraption where you hit a button on your smartwatch and a painting on the wall opens up a vault. You could also keep it in your vehicle or something. If your kid is fat and doesn't do any work, you could keep your shotgun in your shed next to your tools. You could have a gun safe. Or hell, you could store your guns in a hollowed out tree trunk out in Crackhead Forest, provided aliens don't kick your ass on the way.

I don't know what it is about 9x18 Makarov, but I'm obsessed with the caliber recently. The CZ82 is super comfortable to hold and not too bad to shoot. I haven't tried the Hungarian ammo yet, but the reviews I see don't inspire confidence. The polish stuff was fine for me though, only two failures the first time I took it shooting and didn't lubricate it.

>LCR is similar size to Sig P365 XL (according to handgun hero, haven’t compared them side by side) which I’ve carried IWB for the past couple of years
You're missing the forest for the trees. Yes, it's basically the same size, but it has half of the capacity in that same size. It's effectively no easier to conceal IWB, but has a massive handicap in that it has half the capacity and no optic capability. Where snubs ARE easier to conceal is in a pocket where the shape is less gunlike and they can be fired from within a coat pocket without risk of jamming on the first shot unlike an auto. This is the meta the snub is for. It is objectively worse for IWB primary carry since concealment of a blocky auto is easy there, it is superior for pocket carry.

Saying it's interchangeable for IWB carry because it's the same size is like saying a toyota sienna is just as good as a 4x4 SUV for off-roading because it's the same size. They have distinct relative advantages and drawbacks that their characteristics confer, it doesn't make them 1:1 interchangeable.

IWB seemed like the best place to carry for me since I don’t often have any extra pockets for pocket carry and it’s the carry method that I’m most familiar with.

I do understand that there are disadvantages when carrying a revolver vs a semi-automatic. Given your explanation, if I want to carry a revolver IWB, it seems like I should pick a revolver that is more appropriate for IWB carry.

I'm not. I took both my HK USP 45 (I have the Elite version admittedly) and my Springfield Echelon, and the Echelon definitely felt less comfortable to shoot, having less backwards recoil, but more muzzle flip than the USP.
Heres a quick and shitty pic of it.
>>
>>64880942
I don’t think it’s bullshit. I HAD a 1911 and I currently own a USP 45.
I think the USP recoils softer. Even the 1911, perhaps due to its grip geometry, will leave a very slight sting through your hands that the USP just doesn’t at all.

I don’t know man, I think there’s a lot more to a 1911 than functioning. Like I’ve had multiple 10mm 1911s but one stands out as having the lowest recoil despite a weaker recoil spring. I’m thinking there’s something about tighter barrel lockups that reduce recoil. Or the wafered bull barrel really does cut down recoil. Flat bottomed firing pin stops too.

I don’t have any video of it but my custom Colt 1911 I have shoots extremely flat. 5 inch 1911s have more slide stroke than most guns so they should shoot softer.
>>
>>64880921
Well, G21 is a good gun, too. Wasn't in a videogame, so less people like it, but apparently saw some police use since there are trade ins. It might indeed have lower bore axis and less upward flip.
>>

I thought it was >>64872127 from last thread, someone about to buy their first gun, but already hates strikers, no doubt after reading these generals and maybe watching some competition tubers clinging to hammers.
>>
>>64881007
Hammers have better triggers than strikers, generally, no reason to have to buy a striker if you don’t want one. But the insistence on da/sa (I used to be like this) and some sort of spec sheet about needing to be an obscure piece of crap single stack and NOT the actual thinnest 9mm single stack da/sa (3914).

A redpill you're all not ready to swallow is that SIG USA makes the best, most reliable 1911 (series 80 btw) at the under $2k price point.

Everything else under $2k is literal junk. The sig is optics ready too. Watch the sage dynamics vid on it
>>
>>64881017
>better triggers than strikers, generally
I honestly do not have a lot of experience with that many different triggers there are, but imo, from few I tried, there is at least a large overlap, not even taking the rare DA pull into account.
>>
>>64881074
I think it's what he meant when he brought up Wilson Combat. It's an internal extractor, because of course it is. I'm going to have my hands on it soon here, hopefully I'll be able to address any glaring issues.
>>
>>64881086
A depends on brand but a Wilson extractor would probably make him happy as he’s upgrading it from stock. Some manufacturers use soft metal extractors while Wilson and other aftermarket are hard spring steel that are a bitch to bend.

Series 80 is not a serious 1911, no one actually cares about the drop safety angle. I literally carry appendix carry a 1911 and the idea that if I drop the gun exactly muzzle down it will go off doesn’t bother me or has it bothered anyone one else actually carrying a 1911 or 2011.

Kimber’s new next gen 1911 (optic cut, external extractor) is better priced and better looking.

While efforts like that are good, behind the hood there is untold trillions of dollars spent on impossible “climate” and “environmental” projects that do nothing. Pushes to renewable energy that are impossible. Billions of dollars spent of trying to make everyone drive electric cars. My state has banned the construction of any new home using natural gas, forcing people to use electric which there isn’t enough electricity. Any sort of resource extraction in the U.S. has to wade through millions of dollars in environmental impact studies. Things like the UN where the U.S. has to give a bunch of third world counties grants for “green projects”. A lot of it was just ways to steal money from the U.S. tax payer and give it away with zero gain to the U.S. citizen.

Like I said, nuclear energy. The US seems like the perfect place for it if we ask S. Korea and France for help since they've had their nuclear shit together for a long time but I'm really worried that we'll halfass it because a bunch of people can't be bothered to put any thought into it or we need to save a dollar at every turn.
>>
>>64881828
Umm I think we’re ahead considering we just unveiled mobile nuclear reactors for military and possible FEMA use, the French’s civilian power does something very close to uranium enrichment to get the extra efficiency that we don’t do per nuclear rearmament treaties IIRC. If we gave civilian reactors the same fuel as the ones we give military ones they would produce vastly more power per a navy nuke I talked to who works in nuclear energy after getting out.
>>
>>64881839
I'm sure we're technically capable but the devil is in the implementation. We have like 100 nuclear plants here in the US but it's clearly not enough and IIRC Georgia or Kentucky or thereabouts recently had one hell of a time getting one online even though they basically just copied a Worst Korean design.

All of this kind of has me wondering what sort of gear the DoE uses. They advertise their force projection capabilities even less than the Post Office but they also super duper definitely have spooks who do dirt.

Shooting through a coat pocket is a meme. What really makes a snub great is in an entangled situation. It's much harder to disarm and much harder to prevent from firing since there's less barrel and no out-of-battery malfunctions to worry about.
