I’m interested in buying a nice piston rifle in 5.56. What is the best piston rifle on the market right now?

I’m interested in the MCX, but I’m open to other options if there is anything better. I’ll probably go 11.5 because it will permanently have a suppressor

if you're that stupid in the first place, yeah, go ahead & get filtered

SG550/1/3 or the XCR.

Or the Bren 2 :-)
>>
>>64882313
What’s the superior option then?

>>64882319
SG550 is cool, but I already have my somewhat antiquated autistic guns. I don’t need another

What does the XCR do better it’s competitors that it demands a $2,500 price tag?
>>
>>64882305
Used to be Adams Arms. Now probably POF or LWRC International.
>>
>>64882350
Adams Arms still exists under Alexandria Profab. No idea if their guns are still the same quality though.
>>
yeah

Probably a dumb question, but short-stroke gas piston or long-stroke gas piston?
>>
>>64882409
Doesn’t matter to me, although I think the majority of options are short stroke.

I just don’t want DI or buffer tubes
>>
>>64882417
>or buffer tubes
You could buy an AK in 5.56 right now, buy a SCAR-16 (I'd wait until the new ones come out with adjustable gas settings and an improved bolt), buy a BREN 3, or wait until Daewoo releases guns to the US market like they've been promising for over a year.
>>
>>64882313
MCX is fine if you keep it short (and thus avoid the shitty handguard mounting). Functionally, it's still superior to other piston systems.

Still Sig though...
>>
>>64882334
Actual caliber conversion kits. Monolithic upper. Superb controls.

XCRs are good.

>>64882334
Quality control which Sig does not have anymore. Also like he said, there's caliber conversion options if you're interested in that.

Robinson XCR. I don't have the MCX but I've got a SG550 and a SCAR 16 and the XCR beats both pretty handily.
>>64882334
Superb controls
Outstanding trigger out of the box
Wide variety of caliber conversion kits
Monolithic upper
Slim design. Most other piston rifles feel like a 2x4.
It's basically an FNC with the optics mounting and trigger sorted out, and with caliber conversions as a bonus. I've had a number of FNCs over the years and the XCR is everything I tried to make my FNCs, but everything is fixed out of the box. And for all Alex Robinson's well deserved reputation as an asshole, you can get all the spare parts you want. FN cut off the spare part supply for the FNC the instant they stopped importing it, and the FNC needed those spare parts because it's got several fairly fragile components (looking at you firing pin). The XCR is much more robust, I've never actually needed any of my spare parts, but it feels good to have them.
>>
Have they done a threefiddy legund kit for the XCR yet btw?

The MCX probably has the strongest aftermarket of any piston gun that you can buy at the moment.
The 5.56 11.5" is excellent suppressed, smooth and soft, and unsuppressed I find it very balanced.
The advantage of the Cal-X kits as well as caliber change is that you can change your barrel and gas block in like 2 minutes if/when you shoot it out.
The gun is absolutely marooned because it showed up, won multiple contracts, replaced numerous SOCOM weapons, and then had I think like 2 problems that have long since been fixed.
If you're worried about zero retention on lasers, Arisaka makes a $45 part that completely negates any handguard shift.
Ask me questions if you're interested, I almost never see anybody on here with one of these guns because they bought the instagram nigger/spic babble about how it's bad/broken.

Arisaka Zero Retention Clamp
You can get it for standard handguards as well as the MWI ones that are pretty nice, I used one for awhile.

Here is a list of all 5.56 piston rifles new-in-the-box I have personally found currently for sale both online and in person at stores.
Stand-alone: CZ Bren 2, XCR, FN SCAR-L, MCX, PSA Jackal.
AR-15 derivatives: POF, LWRC, LMT, Adams Arms, SIG 516.
AK derivatives: Galil, Galil ACE, Arsenal, PSA AK-101/102/Krink, custom built AK in 5.56.

Good rifle, but I'm too pissed at Israel to recommend it right now.
>>
>>64882643
It’s just light diffraction thru a slit. Looks worse than it is. I gauged the 3 MCXs I have and they were fine. This image has been regurgitated to the point that I know it’s anecdotal BS.

Unlike the handguard thing.
>>
Get the Galil. It’s just so fucking comfy.

Is it worth hunting down a MCX Virtus instead of a Spear? The new M7 gives me the ick so I’m not sure if I want to get a downsized version in 5.56
>>
>>64884948
I'd avoid Sig entirely.

But enough about African poacher AKs.
>>
>>64885173
Out of curiosity, have you fired one of these guns or tested the accuracy yourself or are you just going off of what Garand Thumb or someone you shoot guns vicariously through said?
Because I haven't the slightest idea where you are pulling 6 MOA from. The gun shoots 2 on a bad day with worse ammo.

That's awesome, you literally just picked the first negative video you could find about it, skimmed through until you found the accuracy test, and posted the first number where they got a bad batch of training ammo (113gr nonetheless) and closed it before they said the next batch they tested gave them 2 MOA.
The fact you are allowed to buy a gun let alone vote is frightening
