Were there any cases where the concept of the 28cm gun, that it had little disadvantage compared to larger caliber guns at realistic naval battle distances and even had advantages in terms of rate of fire, was put to good use?

The long-range hits on Glorious also appear to have deviated from the gun's concept, which was that the disadvantage would be mitigated in close-range combat, which would be forced by the bad weather in the North Sea.

She was a commerce raider, so probably doesn't make a difference. She's still going to fight cruisers (where 11 inch is fine) and run from battleships.

Whatever happened, Germany was likely to be significantly outstripped by its main rival.
