Interesting video from a guy doing actual work in Ukraine explaining his rifle setup, some of the interesting highlights towards the end of the vid he explains that zigger body armor regularly fails to stop 5.56 and 5.45 rounds. I also know from another channel on YouTube that dives into Russian gear that a lot of Russians are now running Chinese plates so there could be a correlation there: Some Chinese plates rated to level III+ and IV may not be all they are cracked up to be.
>>64885259Fucking forgot the vid while fighting with the shitty fucking captacha system on this site: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYk-yUcpyu8
>>64885259Depends what they mean by 5.56, and what plates are in question. Idk what Ukraine uses as standard in their units using 5.56 weapons, probably a wide range from countless different countries, but M855 and better should go right through most steel plates; which are used in the module monolith vest that was widely issued to mobiks for a while. Thing is that both ukraine and russia are such shitshows of widely different equipment that its difficult to make any conclusions.
>>64885273it's not that 5.56 are so good, it's just that ruslims use shitty borderline bootleg plates
>>64885273According to valgear most 5.56 in Ukraine is M855. The UAR-15 has a 14.5” barrel, with the average engagements of this war being so close we can probably say that the guy he dropped was in sub 100m. The I think the newer monolith vest doesn’t have spawl protector around the neck and the armor is lighter and “made of a composite material” (or at least that’s what the gargled YouTube translation of the Russian video said) I know a handful by aftermarket plate carriers with Chinese plates, be believing them to be superior to issued gear. Only a handful of professional units can afford the good shit made in Moscow. I’ll try to find the video where the guy reviewed the new generation monolith vest but it’s kind of hard to find because it’s all in Russian. But here’s valgear’s video where he explains that 55g is more expensive in Ukraine than 62g green tip because it’s non-standard issue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYex5D0PBK0
>>64885273>>64885276>>64885285Found the vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0pI7qKD-D4Looks like newer issued Russian plates are aramid and ceramic.
>>64885297This is old info, they now use PE backers versus aramid. Many Russians now use all-PE plates which are advanced enough for 7N10 but are sketchy against M855. Yes, also Chinese plates that don't get the extra "youtube QC" too.Green tip beats PE, speedy 55gr beats steel, ceramic needs heavier duty.
>>64885273>but M855 and better should go right through most steel platesDeliver me, O LORD, from evil men; Preserve me from violent men, Who plan evil things in their hearts; They continually gather together for war. They sharpen their tongues like a serpent; The poison of asps is under their lips.
>>64885273>but M855 and better should go right through most steel platesthat's the opposite of how it works you retarded faggot, steel plates easily defeat m855 but are often penetrated by M193.
>>64885259he echoes a lot of gwot guys>556 takes multiple rounds to stop a target, dude can take a 556 through his torso, through his plates, out the other side and keep running>7.62 drops dudes on their ass after 1 shot>both need follow up shots to make sure your target is really deadit's really less about armour and more about putting guys into the dirt, similarly the guys that rock .308 really like it because it puts guys down in 1 shot which is important
>>64885357This is just cosmetics flex like in the vidya
>>64885399>.308 puts guys down in 1 shotNo experience with human targets but it does knock down steel poppers in 1 shot with supreme authority and it's highly satisfying.
>>64885430>This is just cosmetics flex like in the vidyaIt would be except that they get the gold leaf artwork and Orthodox Wizard blessing only AFTER they save someone's life.
>>64885357>>64885453Ukraine did that first
>>64885399There's a place for both rounds in most modern arsenals, the 5.56 was mostly what we had going into Afghanistan is generally pretty effective in a lot of situations like semi-open rural areas, built up cities and its a really easy round to teach people how to use. Plus you can carry a fair bit of it often in lighter weight, fairly good quality weapons. In terms of effectiveness against armour, we never came across much of it worn by the enemy so its fairly much lethal to any upper-torso hits more or less out to whatever distance you think you can actually hit anyone at.>Which for most of us in combat conditions isn't actually that far!Where 7.62x51 came into its own was pretty early on though, mostly mountain warfare and setting up static defense kill zones it was just by far the superior round, its big, its loud, goes through walls, doors, cars, people and just doesn't give a shit. In terms of ballistics its really not hugely different to 5.56 when it comes to setting up your ranges, what it does do though is carry so much more energy over distance that it really does eclipse the intermediate rounds. From memory at about 400m is delivering about as much energy as 5.56 M885 does at 50metres.In terms of actually hitting people past about 200m, it absolutely can be done but not by everyone all the time and under pressure. So if you've got a real dead-eye, steely nerved mean motherfucker in your company that can consistently get connections at that 3-400m range its absolutely worth getting some kind of 7.62 into their hands. For the rest of us fumble fingered, wall-eyed cunts its more or less just more noise most of the time
>>648852597N39 and M995 will penetrate almost all Level IV plates. So "5.56/5.45" can get through, but it requires the top shelf ammo
I’m surprised the US hasn’t sent over some M7s and a bunch of ammo for Ukraine to try and evaluate.
>>64885545Because Kegsbreath and Trump are retards.
>>64885546careful, you'll stir up the miggers
>>64885545The Ukies want good weapons, though.
>>64885297This doesn't matter, since IRL russians have no rhyme or reason regarding the stuff they give to soldiers. Remember the airsoft gear? The soviet gear? They get what they can get.
>>64885545We need to stop getting involved in pointless wars over matters that don't concern us, unless those wars distract from the epstein files, please our master netanyahu, or distract from the epstein files

Does this fag have a video out that's actually him engaged in fighting or is it his "friends" footage like usual?
>>64885436I'm just going by guys in ukraine land I've never shot a dude but guys are super positive about their scars and what not in .308>>64885505yea that's fair again I'm mostly just parroting what I've heard from other people I have no practical experience to fall back onthat being said I really want a AK
>>64885525Uh, no. They will defeat Level IV plates that use pure boron carbide strike faces, which takes advantage of an "amorphization" weakness virtually unique to B4C, and they need to be going at high velocity to do so. To crack an early REV. A ESAPI, M995 needs to be going about 3,350ft/s +-50 - in other words out of a 20" or above. Boron carbide plates are top dollar and are the minority. The US has switched to B4C-SiC hybrid ceramics with ESAPI REV. G onward which stop M995. XSAPIs use pure SiC. Emerging new plates use SiC doped with TiB2 or specially doped Alumina. Russia has new 7N37-rated BR5+ granits that use the latter with a PE backer which stop 6x 7N37, a threat far more potent than M993, for example. Do these actually get issued in real numbers? Fuck no.Otherwise, rounds like 7N39 will actually lose to B-32 API rated plates like pic related, plate on the left, provided said plates use Alumina or preferably SiC ceramics, which are the majority.>>64885399Terminal ballistics of M855 out of a short barrel through a BR3+ all-PE plate are probably shit, hence the issue you describe.A benefit of .308 is that it is SUPREMELY better at punching armor with the correct ammunition. M993 vastly outperforms M995. 7N37 (7.62x54) vastly outperforms 7N39. This keeps going too. 8.6x70 (.338LM) 7N49 allegedly beats 7N37's ass. Are these common threats? No. Definitely not, but they exist.
>>64885259whats the meaning of the patch on his chest?
>>64886427>Terminal ballistics of M855 out of a short barrel through a BR3+ all-PE plate are probably shit, hence the issue you describe.makes senseinteresting stuff though, thanks

>>64885927Which is why you parrot leftie talking points
>>64886432Glad to help. Pic related is the current "state of the art" for Russian body armor. Note that this does not reflect the state of play for their regular dudes (not even remotely, they've often got cardboard and sheet metal you can bend with your hands) and is more an indication of what the very best units are running in terms of plates.
>>64885463Those pictures are Ukrainian, yes.
