You live in Hoboken NJ
rent 6th floor apartment
the outbreak just reached your state
your arsenal is not impressive so just 2 long guns and 2 hand guns with 1k rounds
you are living alone and have no friends of family in the area
you got lucky and own a 2006 4runner
What is your move?

Do you
A. Run to corner store and buy/rob food and get back and board up?
B.Load up 4runner and drive somewhere? remember its 6 flights each trip to car so you risk getting popped by random person.
C.Decide to knock on doors and come up with a rag tag militia meant to beat back zombies who will arrive in 2 hours
D.eez nuts

Nothing ever happens
Go to sleep and fast until it's all over
>>
I honestly dont think the government would keep roads open to the public
it would be martial law kill on sight anything that moves

>What is your move?
Shoot myself for living in Hoboken
>>
>>64886107
>Go to sleep and fast until it's all over
its been 3 weeks and you can not go outside because there are 10k zombies in the streets
people in your building start kicking in your door
they break it open and you shoot them and kill them

do
A. Leave the bodies in the hallway
B. throw them out the window
C cook them up and eat
>>
>>64886116
you shoot yourself underneath the chin and blow out your face and your eye socket
you wake up 5 minutes later all fucked up in agony, blind
its too painful to move

your door was never boarded up and the zombies find you on the floor and start eating you alive

should have thought that one out better buddy

I'd barricade my door, cover my windows in something to keep light in, take stock of my food supplies and cook anything perishable before the electricity cuts out, and then fill any and all containers including sinks and bathtubs with drinkable water before the water cuts out. I'd probably hunker down for a few weeks listening to my crank radio and observing out the windows before daring to go outside.

People will be way too panicked to be thinking clearly enough to try and coordinate something, going out looting stores is a great way to get shot by the aforementioned panicked people, and trying to leave a dense urban area after the outbreak has already hit without a headstart is a recipe for dieing in a traffic jam.

>>64886110
Assuming it's a real apocalypse l4d style then the ability for the government to enforce martial laws going to go down the shitter in a week or two at most.
>>
>>64886140
I'd say that if it was anywhere but the USA post 2010ish or so you'd be right but at this point we've normalized defensive carry so much that I think any actual apocalypse would turn more into a shitty WROL situation in areas as the feds have to pull back and instead of hordes of zombies its groups of looters with guns taking advantage of the infrastructural breakdown of a local area.
>>
>>64886143
>actual apocalypse would turn more into a shitty WROL situation
That's fair. I suppose it depends on the type of apocalypse. When I think of zombies I usually think of something like left for dead, where the zombies are super lethal and the horde was preceded by a deadly pandemic, so like 80% of the population is dead within a matter of days of it arriving in an area. Whereas for something like Walking Dead, it'll probably be more about dealing with people than with the zombies.
>>
>>64886140
>take stock of my food supplies and cook anything perishable before the electricity cuts out,
your neighbors smell you cooking on the first day
by day 6 you hear a knock
its dudes wanting some food because they are non whites who live paycheck to paycheck
they tell you if you give them food they will be able to risk going out for more
you open your door to give them food
they barge in to rape you
you shoot them but are also shot in the bicep
no fracture but you now have one useful arm
4 days later your hear another knock
3 17 year old spanish girls are asking if you know what happened to their family
do you
A Tell them the truth
B lie to them and invite them in
C remain silent
>>
>>64886170
Its either going to be super rabies which will burn out quickly as sick victims will die within 2-3 days since if its super rabies even if they have desires to drink water they won't be able to, or its going to be something fantastical and up to your personal taste.
>>
>>64886099
I miss when movies used to make little bits like this as bonus' for the DVD release. Adds so much lore.
>>
>>64886099
Option A is the only viable option.
Try driving anywhere in a timely manner in New York during a regular day, now try escaping during a zombie apocalypse. There goes option B unless you want to fight your way out of a chaotic traffic jam.
Option C is retarded because unless I can trust my neighbors I wouldn't trust any of them with my guns. Likewise they probably aren't as prepared as I am and would consume resources. Maybe this is a good time to ask out the cute girl across the hall tho and then she can help out with Option D.

But yeah, if no more room in hell taught me anything, it's to hunker down with my SKS and just wait for FEMA supply drops.

Roads are already going to be cooked, even if you somehow make it through you'll end up turned around at a choke point by LE or disarmed and interned in some national guard "safe point". Both of which are a death sentence. Only answer is to bug in to the best of your abilities. Note anybody bugging out, particularly in your building and ideally on your floor. You're going to need their shit in the near future, particularly containers and the water in their plumbing and hot water heater. If the sixth floor is the top floor of the building you're in a pretty good position. Access the attic through your unit and secure any other points of access ASAP, this will be your fallback position and potential point of access for abandoned units. Coordinating with at least a couple of other non dead weight people is a great idea If you can find any, how important that is will depend a lot on how many people stay or leave the apartment complex. Ideally you're going to barricade entryways and stairwells in the complex and take advantage of your shoddy construction and paper thin walls to gather enough water and food to survive for an extended period while staying hidden on the top floor with the attic as your fall back position.

Apartments are terrible for realistic SHTF but VERY good for zombie apocalypse BS as long as most occupants bug out. Lots of easily accessible supplies in small clearable spaces that you don't even have to go outside for as long as you have some basic hand tools.

This concept is interesting to me. I wonder if suburbia is dense enough for this to be as big a concern.

In general I think a WROL story based in cookie cutter burbs would be interesting.

Good point about noting who is leaving, this is why is pertinent to do an area study of where you live

you cook up the puerto rican and make jerky out of the nigger and indian
the whole building smells the cooked flesh
more knocks
you fire through the door and kill 3 people
then
someone throws a molotov at your door
the building is catching on fire
your choices are
A use the fire escape and make a run to your vehicle that has its rear and passenger window busted
B. Die like a man
C. put out the fire with your only extinguisher but your apartment isnt secure anymore

Try to get another food/water for at least 3 months. Wait until the zombies starve to death or winter, then go out to random houses to find drugs and vidya.

Eh, I'm aware of the phenomena, I'm not aware of any good info on firestorm likelihood in the advent of isolated but uncontained fires in urban areas. For instance your example required massive firebombing that was specifically intended to start a firestorm. More naturally occurring ones always involve large quantities of rather flammable materials that can catch easily. Ex the Minnesota one, Tokyo one, and several wildfires. Based on what ive seen, and in my completely unqualified opinion, you'd be really unlikely to see firestorms in typical urban environments even if nobody is putting them out.

Fire is definitely the massive danger and downside to apartment buildings for any realistic SHTF situation. You can almost guarantee it'll be a problem if the weather's could and power is out for more than a few days. Just don't think city destroying firestorms would be likely.

>>
>>64886099
Anon the zombies killing the cities is a GOOD THING.

Zombies are zero threat to those outside the cities (otherwise known as "people"). Giant hordes would spread out because of gait difference, or trample each other to mulch. Hordes aren't even hard to deal with when you've got space even if they could stay together.

Romero Zombies ARE NOT A THREAT, and even zombie movies admit this by coping and having a disease or other disaster do 99% of the killing to try to help the fuckers along.
>>
>>64886099
1 find the women in the building and rape them. especially the cuties who ignore you.
2. profit ?
>>
>>64887665
Your rape level is so low that you fail to rape even the children and pets. You retreat back to your apartment, having made enemies of everyone else in the building. What's your next move?
>>
>>64886099
Load up all the booze and snacks I can scrounge, book it to the car and head south to hang out with the redneck zombie extermination squads. I think a few bottles of Jack and some beer would convince them to let me join the party.
>>
>>64886099
If I haven't gone innawoods by the time it actually reached my area then it's already too late to leave. I've never lived in the city so I don't know a lot, but I'll go out on a limb and assume the roads are gonna be fucking unusable even if the national guard hasn't locked everything down.
If I know in advance shit's headed my way but can't leave for whatever reason, I don't know why I'm not already stocked up on nonperishables but whatever. The only realistic strategy is to bug in for a week or two until everything quiets down, then leave via either car or foot depending on what the roads are like at this point (probably foot) and whether I can figure out a better location. The apartment itself might be alright since it only has two exits; if I can secure the stairs to the ground floor I can potentially clear out the entire building.
As long as they're a common caliber, 2 long guns and 2 handguns is more than enough for me. If I'm at least acquainted with my neighbors and they don't seem like assholes, I may check up on them and see if we can cooperate, but we're not doing any "elite zombie hunter" militia bullshit.

>>64886099
check the other appartements to see if any of them are abandoned. get someone else to help me carry furniture from those appartements to clog up the stairwell.
you still have a food/water problem but at least you aren't getting eaten in your sleep.
>>
>>64886099
Staying is a death sentence. You'll be trapped in a high population urban area, that means a shit-ton of zombies. You'll run out of food eventually, and the area will become picked clean by looters soon as well.

I think the best option would be to try to leave, though there'll probably be traffic jams. Maybe try to offroad it, head north. Hopefully the cold will freeze the zombies, making them less mobile due to muscle injuries.
>>
>>64886099
>your arsenal is not impressive so just 2 long guns and 2 hand guns with 1k rounds
You're actually insane if you think that's "not impressive" because that's more than what 99% of your fellow Americans own.

Anyway the answer is definitely B as you are very close to the PA border and I think you'd fare a hell of a lot better in Scranton than Hoboken tbqh.
I don't think you'd have to worry much about getting shot by your neighbor if you're leaving just as the zombies make it into the state (assuming they're coming from NY?) but you might get caught up on the highway so I hope you know your way around the back roads.

There are shit tons of hillbillies up in them mountains who'd be delighted to use some zombies as target practice. Lots of small towns would fare just fine.

What about the fires? Over 60 structural fires occur daily in New York. You will burn in your holed up apartment.
