Why do gun owners need a gun safe? It's not like the gun's gonna jump up and bite someone.

>It's not like the gun's gonna jump up and bite someone.
You'd be surprised.
>>
I don't. I keep all my handguns loose in my desk and rifles in cases or bags under my bed or in the closet
>>
>>64887215
Mine are just strewn around my apartment willy nilly. I forget which ones are loaded. I used to get black out drunk and pull the triggers back to the point right before it breaks but I stopped drinking so I don't do that anymore.
>>
>>64887205
>>64887215
I keep all my rifles and my shotgun in gun socks
>>64887205
It's so your child doesn't shoot him or herself. In theory it also stops burglars but that would depend on both the burglar and the quality of the safe. you would need a pretty expensive safe to stop anything other than the most opportune crack addict. Like I wouldn't be shocked if the type of criminal who was defeated by a safe was the same criminal who wouldn't bother stealing a gun due to the enhanced charges. Like if you're a crackhead you're better off taking the PS6 or laptop and not getting the extra felony charges gun theft has
>>
>>64887228
my only loaded gun is my shotgun and that's cruiser ready I think. I don't remember if I have the safety on but I know the hammer is down on an empty chamber. I got a new optic for my AR, when I zero it I'll probably change to keeping the AR loaded instead
>>
>>64887205
some people have families and people in their life they care about
>>
>>64887233
So are ars drop safe/ safe to store cocked and locked? I've heard differing opinions.
>>
>>64887205
its just there to keep them from being stolen, more than anything else
>>
>>64887229
>Like if you're a crackhead you're better off taking the PS6 or laptop and not getting the extra felony charges gun theft has

This is logical but we're talking about junkie niggers here, they aren't logical. If they see a gun they'll take it without any consideration to the charges. but yeah they may not bother trying to get through a safe.
>>
>>64887205
An armory is a home for guns. Homeless guns aint right.
>>
>>64887247
idk, I'd just store it with the bolt closed and the mag downloaded to the point I can insert it on a closed bolt
>>
>>64887205

>Why do gun owners need a gun safe?

My shit has a dehumidifier, it's to protect the ones I value. The rest I just throw into the garage closet.
>>
>>64887278
Do they pay rent?
>>
>>64887205

Gun safes are so criminals don't steal them, not so your guns don't shoot someone randomly.

I keep a loaded gun in every room in my house but I keep my extras in the gun safe so if someone breaks into my house they won't be able to get all of them.

I guess if you have kids or idiot friends you might keep them there so they don't accidentally make a non-reversible mistake.
>>
>>64887205
i dont know man, why put tens of thousands of dollars in a safe
>>
concealability > physical locks

Safes scream HEAR I AM HERE'S WHERE ALL THE EXPENSIVE STUFF'S HIDDEN. But a closet hidden by a bookcase on small casters, like some actual scooby doo shit, would never be found without dogs or a forensics team
>>
>>64887237
couldn't be me
>>
>>64887286
>garage closet.
Just say sex dungeon, anon.
>>
>>64887205

In my country, with strict gun laws, criminals constantly target collectors.
>>
Kinda suprised no one has mentioned this guy having what appears to be roughly five to six million dollars of gold bullion in his safe.
>>
>>64887205
You can be held liable for a crime committed by someone who did the act with a firearm you own, if they steal it from you in the United States, ofc every state has different laws and we're not talking about criminal liability, that is something different, but in civil cases a court can absolutely hold you somewhat responsible for a crime committed with one of your stolen firearms if they find that you did not take reasonable steps to protect it from an intruder, family member, ie someone who isnt you
Again, with criminal cases the standard for guilt is way too high, but in cases like this
>>64887215
>>64887228
Ofc assuming these arent larping teenagers who have never fired a weapon let alone own one
I've spoken with law school grads, not judges but guys who actually may sit on a bench one day about this very topic, these arent far left lunatics btw, who would jump at the chance to make an example out of people who are this careless with their firearm storage after someone breaks into their house, steals a gun or two, and then holds up a liquor store with them
>>
>>64887299
>why put tens of thousands of dollars in a safe
how many guns do you have? I only have maybe $5,000 worth of guns if you include the scopes

This makes sense but you're still using too much healthy human mind. I was a horrible drunk and ended up around a lot of criminals and addicts in life and in rehab, once someone take the ghoul path, they don't have those human thoughts, at least not in the moment.
It is to be a creature of pure opportunity, such are the cords that bind them.

That's where I put my cheap guns and guns that are impossible to get ammo for. And just for fun, some Rohm revolvers, because I'm a twat.

>It's so your child doesn't shoot him or herself. In theory it also stops burglars
You forgot the third reason: a nice safe is sometimes water resistant and/or fire resistant. If you have a really nice gun, it'd be nice to protect it from a fire or flood.

>>64887233
>my only loaded gun is my shotgun
>I'll probably change to keeping the AR loaded
Keep them both loaded; once the shotgun runs dry, you grab the AR and continue fighting without having to reload. LOL
>>
>>64887205
>It's not like the gun's gonna jump up and bite someone.
I'm sure Sig is working on fixing that

>>64887445
>Skinner sights
And they ship to Europe, hell yeah. Thanks, i'm buying this. That's cool af and will sit nice alongside my suits.
>>
>>64888344
Why wouldn't they? there's no way that's a restricted item and I wouldn't think their sights are restricted. maybe their red dots and scope mounts for some retarded reason
>>
>>64887205
So they don't get stolen you fucking retard.
>>
After seeing how shittily literally all fire safes actually handle a fire, I just stash my ammo in a set of lockers that I snagged when a local office closed.

I already had a cheap Cannon so I keep my guns in it
>>
>>64887205
>not like the gun's gonna jump up and bite someone.
According to some legislators that is exactly what would happen.
They make sense in a context of a shooting range or similar but for the needs of the average joe they are overpriced garbage imo.
>>
>>64887205
NDs happen, its just part of gun ownership you have to accept. Having them in a SAFE is the SAFEst way to store them, then if they ND at least only the wall of the safe gets damaged and not someones brain
>>
>>64887205
I dropped an SKS on my foot and it was bruised for like 2 or 3 weeks. I limped a little too.
Go fuck yourself, I went and got an 8 gun safe and put 9 in it. Tell Putin I don't give a fuck.
>>
>>64887228
All my guns are loaded so nobody fucks around with the safety rules. You ain't gotta "treat them" as anything. Chambered and safed too in case you want to TRY being a retard. With a sign on the wall to that effect.
And if anyone breaks in I can anticipate they would be armed so while they struggle with the fucking gun sock, BANG BANG FAGGOT LOOK WHO'S BLEEDING OUT WITH A COCK IN EM.
>>
>>64887286
fucking lame, I have a dehumidifier and humidifier fighting like mad all day to keep it perfect.
>>
>>64887319
A properly installed safe also isn't something that can be easily carried away or opened unless the thief is expecting it. And even then it takes additional time, tools, and noise to break open a safe. Unless the thieves come prepared and planned the theft in such a way that affords them ability to hang around (in which case you have much larger concerns), the point of a safe is to make it more appealing for them to take lesser value items at a lower risk. Security through obscurity is the thinnest veneer of security possible.

The correct answer is you have a decoy safe in the open with an actual safe hidden elsewhere.
>>
>>64888455
I have never had an ND and I've only had an "AD" when aiming down range while doing shooting matches where I accidently shot slightly before I wanted to or like double tapped by accident
>>
>>64887205
I keep one of my subs in my gunsafe.

I tried that, but she nearly suffocated. The gunsafe permits just enough airflow that it's safe, if somewhat stuffy.
>>
>>64887550

I just don't have expensive guns. The only gun I have that's more than $1,000 is my NM AR which was like $2,000 and that's with me overpaying for the lower. I only have 4 guns
>>
I enjoy the tidiness because I am not a nigger or niggerbrained, and I enjoy being able to keep my range toys safe in case someone tries to steal my shit while I'm not there.
>>
>>64887205
The primary reason to use a gun safe is legal CYA.
