Recently picked up this Type 38 for pretty cheap, all matching # and has a dust cover and bore is still in shoot-able condition, what should I begin to learn about Arisakas, I know I'm going to have to learn loading for this caliber but any tips would be helpful
>>64921347Very nice. Are you wanting to do more Arisaka research cause you want to buy more? One of the biggest Arisaka knowledge things you can have going to a show or when buying is to be able to ID the difference between a purpose built mil-issue rifle and a school/training rifle.Otherwise, learn to reload 6.5 although there is still plenty of Bannerman and Norma online.
>>64921382It's pretty simple to ID the actual military rifles. They always (well, 99."9%) have their model designation marked on the receiver ring.
>>64921347You don't really have to trim 6.5 brass because of the chamber design.
>>64921382The gun shows here rarely have Japanese rifles, the only two I've seen were a sporterized arisaka, and a Type 18 rifle. I think what I should've written was the reload quirks as >>64921890 explains, as this would be my first rifle (among my 8mm) I would like to learn handloading, but I was seeing that some 38's on r*ddit had messed with the brass. How is Bannerman and Norma 6.5 with the 38 other then the price being high?
Going through some old pics to contribute to a slow thread. Grandad's IBM carbine. Not happy about the sanded stock, but it was his.I also have his surplus colt 1911 and the associated paperwork from when he got it. He paid $17 shipped.Do you guys have things left over from your grandparents?
>>64922890>have things left over from your grandparents?Beard genetics and his WW2 medals. No guns unfortunately
>>64922890>Do you guys have things left over from your grandparents?I have dad's dad's dogtags, discharge papers and his uniform from the USAAF, and mom's dad's copy of the Bluejacket's Manual from the USN. No fireams however.
>>64922890From my one grandfather I have his officer's commissioning papers, flight log, and the navigational clock from his plane.
>>64922890>Do you guys have things left over from your grandparents? No, because in typical boomer fashion, they either sold it all to make a quick buck or moved to the other side of the country and refuse to talk to their kids and grandkids. Idc about valuables, but I'd love to have my great grandfathers ww2 medals. He was one of the survivors of the USS Indianapolis
>>64920022Does anyone know?

>>64927309Are you talking about the Beretta M1934?
>>64933448Yup
>>64933448Generally, guns are considered to be dangerous and should be handled responsibly. I would assume the Beretta M1934 would be no different. So its probably safe as long as you do not do anything dangerous with it.

Post surp pistols you're looking to pic up since OP couldn't make an engaging thread theme. I want a 1945 dated P.38 or an Imperial Luger.>>64936872I don't have any experience with them personally but they should be perfectly safe. They were produced for Germany once Italy switched sides and 1943 and continued to be made after the war. It's hard to fuck up a .380 blowback unless you're loading up Bubba's Pissin' Hot handloads in there.

>>64939803I'm hoping to finally get a Webley self loader. Dunno why people say it looks ugly, plus it has autistic features like single round loading.
>>64939803Sorry I meant is it safe to carry with one in chamber since it doesn't have drop safety or firing pin block and it ain't like makarov

>>64941497The whole board is slow these days, the US is fighting a war with Iran right now and there’s still threads up from two weeks ago.
>>64943298The 4 years of war shilling drove away the gun folks. I made /o/ my home board for the last 3 years. Now you've got tons of Iran war posts. Of which I can assume is Israel shilling the board since the American approval for the Iran conflict is so low.
>>64943003I want one of those but they only come in either a piddly shit caliber or unobtainium

Is 400 a decent price for Yugo M24/47? I'm debating on picking up a matching one and selling my mix masterson 24/47.
>>64943298As the other Anon said, it's not worth browsing the catalog with half the board is just gonna be war shilling or drone snuff films. Why endless snuff films and bait threads are allowed but threads discussing gun laws are banished to /pol/ is anyone's guess.
>>64943003IMO the WSL looks exactly how a 1900s automatic pistol would be expected to look. Rectangle on a rectangle with a tube sticking out.>>64944895$400 is fine for a matching one in good condition.

>>64949447>then why did they put it there?God grants his greatest challenges to his strongest retards.
>>64949520I dont think the mods give a shit about anything other than their home boards. there are a bunch of smaller boards that are complete ass due to the jannies. this has also allegedly been a problem for over a decade. there's some whole thing about dbz or toonami being on a specific boards because the /a/ janny refused to let people post about it on /a/ and m00t was fine with a janny refusing to allow specific content on his own board. hell, the /sp/ janny was a total fag for a while before he got fired back then
>>64950850You used to get banned for posting about Naruto, one of the most popular anime, on /a/ We used to be able to discuss firearm legislation/politics on this board, it changed about the time that /pol/ overtook /b/ as the flagship board for 4chan. I get why they want to avoid /pol/ style discourse outside their containment board, but you’d think we should be able to discuss things that are pertinent to our hobby. Especially since the mods allow anime and video game threads here as long as they are gun/military related.

Back in the day it was simply an unspoken rule that we support the people that aren't going to grab our guns, now that every retarded normie gets slop politics thrown at them they can't handle realpolitik and demand you change your political views if a current event makes your views look bad momentarily or because you voted for a guy who isn't pro gun control you have to support everything else he does.

Lee Metford (or .303 autists) bros. Are there any special considerations on ammo for a Lee Metford or are they fine with modern commercial .303 brit?
>>64952213Need a low temperature propellant. High NG double base powders have higher temps and will erode the fuck out of the rifling.
Question:en blocs/stripper clips is there a difference or an other term in English depending if it goes into the gun or not?en bloc clips like the m95/garand/g88 style things that go into the mag are the one thingbut how would you call the swiss brown paper things which help to get the ammo quickly into the mag but stay outside?in German there is Laderahmen (literally loading frame) or Munitionspacket (from older literature, which would translate literally into ammo box but it means ammo bundle like in an en bloc). both go into the gun.the swiss call their loading thing simply Lader (loader).
>>64952796Clips and en-blocs go in the gun.Stripper clips and chargers stay outside.

>>64952681Thats what I figured. A part of me wants to find a Lee-Metford but also reading about how shit the rifling durability was, its no wonder they switched to Enfield fairly quickly. I already have a CLLE so its kinda eh really.
>>64955928If you reload it's easier. IMR3031 was specifically made to replace the Cordite and be gentler on the bore.Nice that there's someone else with a CLLE. Mine was sporterised by a gunsmithing firm in London then spent most of its life shooting seals and moose in Newfoundland.

I was gifted a Chilean Mauser by a family friend, and while I appreciate it, I really don't know shit about it. He said that it was German and used by Israelis, but that's pretty obviously not the case. He said that he shot a .308 out of it once, but when I tried loading a .308 into it, it didn't fit. It's marked with 7.62 N, so I'm assuming it should take a 7.62, do y'all have any recs on cartridges?

Anyone have experience with S&B .303 British? LCS has a bunch of both 180gr FMJ/SP and 150gr SP for $40 a box plus tax. I have seen poorer performance with S&B .30-06 compared to PPU .30-06 before so that is why I ask.
>>64959007The Chilean M95 conversion was done with a soldered-in chamber insert. Sometimes propellant gasses can erode the solder and cause the joint to open up and the inser to back out, causing headspace to shrink. There was a great cross section of a rifle suffering from this symptom on the old Dutchman Swede Mauser website, but the link seems dead now. Proceed with caution: wear your eyepro.>>64959692Looks nice. >>64960163Last S&B 303 I shot popped a primer in my SMLE Mk.III*. IDK if that’s still the case.
